Trump supporters do not deal in facts, only in the lies spouting forth from his mouth!

If Trump would have just returned all of the documents to the US GOV when requested, we wouldn't be here.  It's as simple as that.

Not just "when requested," but as he was clearly obligated to do under federal law.... something Trump has consistently shown he cares not a whit about.

A "decrepit old man" who managed to get major legislation passed during his first 2 years. And while I didn't approve of his negotiating over the debt limit. he clearly out-negotiated McCarthy. If that's your idea of decrepit, then it should be considered a compliment.

His handlers did that, Biden is too out of it to do this himself. He is quite clearly being handled every step of the way - they just can't control him enough to hide his mental state though.

"Nauta texted another Trump staffer a picture of documents containing classified information that were spewed all over a bathroom floor.

'I opened the door and found this,' he wrote, according to the indictment - and included two photographs of the spilled documents, at least one of which contained classified documents.

The indictment states that the specific documents were related to intelligence between the 'Five Eyes' countries."

The Daily Mail is hardly a reliable source. The Beano is more reliable.

So what is your recommended "reliable" UK Daily Newspaper?

Thank you for the lack of evidence. The only thing that your comment makes clear is your belief.

Surely in a country with a population in excess of 300 million people there would be at least a few candidates under 70???

I think it's quite likely that a lot of qualified candidates are discouraged by the current extremely polarized electorate.  Don't overlook the threat posed by the violence prone extreme right wing folks.

More denialism. It's one thing when the Daily Mail engages in gossip mongering. This isn't that.

Walt Nauta, Trump's personal aide who now faces charges as well, at one point discovered that some of the boxes of classified files stored there had toppled over, revealing one document labeled, “SECRET/REL TO USA, FVEY,” which denoted that the information in the document was releasable only to the Five Eyes intelligence alliance: Australia, Canada, New Zealand, the United Kingdom and the United States.

According to the indictment, Nauta texted another Mar-a-Lago employee two photos of the toppled documents, writing: “I opened the door and found this…”

They had potentially been rifled and photographed. I think the "securely stored and under special services guard" excuse has sailed.

'This vicious persecution is a travesty of justice,' Trump insisted. 'You're watching Joe Biden [try] to jail his leading political opponent – an opponent that is beating him by a lot in the polls – just like they do in Stalin-ist Russia, or communist China. No different.'

'Our country has gone very bad. Just think of it – in three years.'

Seems I am an odd one out. I am about the only forum user here that just cannot comprehend how an ex President having some classified documents in safe storage while negotiating their return is the worst crime ever, while the senator and career politician that is persecuting his political opponent with a weaponized DOJ can have classified docs strewn around several unsecure locations including a house rented by his chummy with multiple foreign adversaries drug addict son and it is the GOLD STANDARD of good storage and certainly not a crime. I just don't buy it, sorry.

How can a President not have the power to see classified docs? How can a senator have more legal ability than a President to have classified documents at home? Why was Trump's classified document scandal dealt with by dozens of hysterical threads yet when it was known biden did the same an urgent message appeared stating it's absolutely normal for govt people to have classified docs at home no big deal? Is a vindictive 3rd world justice system used to attack political opponents really in the left's best interest after the euphoria wears off?

Seeing America hurtle toward civil war thanks to a broken justice system is heartbreaking but not in the least surprising.

Because, as even a number of Republican luminaries, including Trump's own Attorney General Bill Barr have pointed out, Trump didn't just inadvertently retain the documents, he deliberately held on to them and refused to hand them back, unlawfully concealing and withholding over a hundred documents with classified markings even in the face of a subpoena requesting their return.

In complete contrast, both Biden (and Pence) actually invited the FBI to come and look for any documents that might be classified, and any such documents (about a dozen or less in each case) were immediately turned over to the authorities without any prevarication whatsoever.

As Barr states in the article below:

Quote

“The problem is what did he do after the government asked for them back and subpoenaed them.

... This would have gone nowhere had the president just returned the documents, but he jerked them around for a year and a half. … There is no excuse for what he did here.”

I used to read the Beano in the 1950s as a young boy, and I agree that the Beano is much more fun to read than the Daily Wail, even nowadays.

President Biden does not have handlers.

What he and every other POTUS had/have are advisors who are specialists within their own skills.

Just about every POTUS, with the exception of Trump, rely on their advisors for information and suggestions and mostly follow their advice.

OTOH, Trump, who claims that he knows more about every single subject than anybody else, went his own way and simply cannot comprehend why he was so wrong.

but the advisor's best advice is for nothing, if a senil president forgets this advice two minutes after it was given to him.

Sorry, I need to amend part of that as I had mis-remembered it. It was Pence and Biden's attorneys who first did a search and discovered that they still had some classified documents in their possession.

In Pence's case, the documents found were immediately returned and that was the end of the matter.

In Biden's case, a further search was conducted by the FBI with the full cooperation of Biden and his lawyers and (as with Pence) any classified documents found were immediately turned over.

Unlike Trump, neither Biden nor Pence tried to conceal or withhold documents after they were discovered nor did they make false statements about what documents they had and obstruct attempts to recover them,

It means nothing.

Not necessarily.

Prsident Biden seems to me to be doing a good job clearing up the shambles that Trump left behind.

I don't know if the verb "jail" in the topic heading is to be taken literally or just another word for "hobbled".

If literally, there is little or no chance that, even if convicted in federal or state criminal cases, Trump could physically be put under a corrections order before the Republican nominating Convention in July 2024 or even before the November 2024 election.

Double standards indeed.

It's incredible, you're not the only one, but most here are very biased.

Ironically, it's Biden who will end up in jail, if the recent allegations of accepting a $5 million bribe are true.

Even James Comer, who is the main person pushing the allegations against Biden, has admitted that they have no actual evidence of anything illegal having happened.

Asked if he has evidence directly linking Joe Biden to alleged malfeasance, Comer indicates he does not.

I've no idea who Comer is.

It shouldn't be up to the Republicans to arrest Biden if he has taken bribes.

And if Biden hasn't been arrested yet, ever thought that it could well be that there is no evidence to support what you suggest?? Strange that.

Influence peddling is illegal, even for a VP.

"Biden Family and Associates’ Activities in Romania Indicate Influence Peddling Scheme:  The Biden family and associates’ activities in Romania bear clear indicia of a scheme to peddle influence from 2015 to 2017. While Vice President Biden lectured Romania on corruption and ethics, the Bidens received over a million dollars from a company controlled by a Romanian individual accused of corruption, Gabriel Popoviciu, through a Biden family associate"

When Comer comes up with evidence, let us know.
