Phang Nga – A British tourist called for help after a boat captain fell unconscious while they were in the sea together in Phang Nga.

The Phuket Tourist Police told the Phuket Express on Friday (August 11th) that they were notified of the incident by the Tourist Police hotline 1155. A male British tourist, who wasn’t identified by name, had called for help and told Phuket tourist police that he had rented a long-tail boat with a boat captain from the An Pao Pier on the Yao Noi Island to visit other islands nearby.

The boat captain suddenly fell unconscious and was unable to steer the boat back onto the land. The British tourist was not trained or confident enough to steer the boat on his own.

  • It sounds like like Thailand at the moment. A ship without a captain.

  • It is quite the opposite!  Driving a car, anybody could do it.  A boat has an amazing amount of inertia, and the precise calculations necessary to dock it, takes some skill, and some training.

  • I think its left to go left right to go right and turn off to to stop son or visit confused .com ????

Yeah, but some people seem to be too dumb to figure that one out.

He could have Googled for driving instructions, or better yet, watch some YouTube videos.

Captain-less and rudder-less.

That photo is not a long tail boat.

I think that on a long tail, it is push right to go left and push left to go right. ????

Was the unconscious captain drunk by any chance? Or maybe it was the devil's weed.

Why were they in the sea and not on a boat? Where can I buy one of those water-resistant phones? Are they both gay? So many questions; so fewcanswers. ????

Have you ever driven a long-tailed boat?  You familiar with how they are steered?

Not very likely.

Indeed, but sometimes you do seem to be too critical of yourself.

Wow, all the long-tail boat 'experts' are out in force today and not one of them has ever driven/piloted one.

Perhaps the tourist didn't feel confident enough to guarantee the safety of his fellow passengers.

Can't you read?...

"The boat captain was rushed to the Koh Yao Hospital with an undisclosed medical emergency"

Is it?  On a long tail?

So many experts on here and bizarre posts. The tourist did the right thing full stop!!! Some people on here have just shown how thick they really are.

A tourist doing something responsible for a change! They remembered tourist police contact details, and instead of trying to do something they couldn't, they asked for help. Well done.

Do not believe many tourists would have a clue how to operate a long tail boat.

Have you ever tried steering a boat? It's so simple?

usually it is quite simple, but then I also would expect Thai boats to have some quirks that could potentially make it difficult.
