Captain Arnon Mahakitassawakun of the Pattaya City Police was notified of the incident around midnight on Friday (August 18th) on a small road behind the Tai He Temple in Nongprue. They and the Pattaya News arrived at the scene to find the damaged SUV and a damaged power pole.

Very understandable that she needed to drive, as she could not walk anymore... she should sue the city for placing that power pole in her way

Ok go ahead with all the anti Chinese bs. This was a very standard drunk driving fender bender. Hardly a news story

A little girl goes up to her dad and asks:

"Daddy, what does it feel like being drunk?"

"Well," the father replies "You see those 2 telephone poles over there in the distance?" he says, pointing in the direction of the poles.

"A drunk person would see 4 telephone poles there."

The little girl, confused, replies "But daddy, there is only one telephone pole over there"

Miss Wang bang... good enough?

Is the damage to the power pole likely to cost 2 million baht as was the recent rear bump to a Chinese owned Roller?

Totaling* a car by driving into a concrete pole is pretty standard where you come from, eh?

*car isn't repairable, or it costs more to repair than what it's worth Note: Of course this doesn't happen here due to the inexpensive cost of bodywork they slap some Bondo on it sand it down paint it then sell it at a "car tent" to some sucker who can't see the damage

Yeah but surrounded by tons of ads. That's how the game works.

You must want to play then otherwise you would take simple steps and never see them.........

Are you OK to drive?

I can drive, just can't get pulled over>

They have a strange system here, I had a car that was, to all intents and purpose, a write off, the only piece of body work that wasn't damaged was the boot lid.  I had the repair quote from Honda and contacted the insurance of the man who had caused the accident and said I would be happy if they paid me the market worth of the car, they would save themselves 30k. They refused and insisted that the car was repaired. The repair job was magnificent.

How did she get a licence?  Are Chinese allowed to use their own country's licence in Thailand?

IDP ???? or perhaps she lives here and has a Thai license.

It’s extremely fortunate she didn’t kill an innocent party.

The general degree of apathy towards the severity of drink driving here, not only by authorities but society on. A whole us utterly despicable.

I very much doubt this lady would dare drive drunk in Europe or the Middle East etc…

Ads don't bother me. Of course I know how to deal with them if I don't want to "play". But as a former publisher of a magazine, I fully understand the need for ads. I was merely pointing out to the original poster why this article was there even though he/she didn't find it newsworthy.

Hammer out the fender and jump on the hood. Good to go

Of course they are. You think only white mans licenses count in Thailand ?

I didn't think anything - I asked a simple question.  So are licences from India and Africa acceptable?  Are there any countries which are on Thailand's forbidden list of drivers?

No Idea, but many thai drivers should be on that list.

Why wouldn't they be allowed, you can use your licence here, can't you?
