yes Jatuporn,  it is all orchestrated ... it's Thaksins plan,   and you are wrong as he won't be going back to jail,  he's done a deal.

Isnt Jatuporn the fruitcake who got up on tv and prompted protesters to collect fuel as to burn Bangkok?  The guy who should have been jailed but ended up showing up staying at some holiday camp in Sattahip?  Wouldnt believe a word this criminal says.

However I do think he will go back to jail and back to hospital again, and maybe again, while those in charge ascertain what the public and the international think about it all.  Thaksin I think has indeed done a deal, possibly paid back what he stole plus interest, maybe even a pledge to stay out of politics.  But it cant be made too obviuous.  Those in charge will take their time, maybe even set up a few diversions of attention, until he is allowed free through fabricated ill health, royal pardon, or government sanction.  He will go free.

Color me shocked if he actually serves one-third of his sentence before he's pardoned.

Will he have to do a 90-day report?

Hes still got financial clout, that means one way or the other he'll walk.

Musing on this.

Thaksin is sure he's got a cast iron deal. He wouldn't come back otherwise. In his hand he holds 141 MPs. They've done what they've been told, they've joined the junta backers.

So is there any reason the deal could fall through?

Well, in the past, high profile prisoners like Kamnan Poh spent his/ their jail term in a very nice private hospital, but it was kept quiet. It wasn't a public issue. Unlike Toni's case where every heartbeat is big news.

The point being the double standards on display are obvious to the entire Thai population.

Plus you've got those petitioning against double standards and others insisting Thaksin should be prosecuted for less majeste in 2015.

Not so good for public unity, or indeed the image of the 'good people' when blatant favouritism is on display.

Maybe the elite don't care, but they might, and it would do no harm to keep Toni confined, just to make sure his MPs do what they're told, plus it would satisfy those protesting at double standards.

I think he said it was to spend time with his grandchildren.

I'm not sure how much time he could spend with then if he's in prison. Unless he didn't think he would be in prison for long.

they can visit the prison on Sundays? bring some tin biscuits

Why else would he fly in on his gulfstream….definitely NOT to be incarcerated.

And I wonder if he's paying daily epensive parking fees for his private jet at DM airport?

He mentioned that Thaksin's stay at the police hospital pointed to his inability to withstand pressure...

How can a person with "inability to withstand pressure" be a businessman, politician and primeminister...????

Jatuporn has done time at least twice. Since his disillusion with Thaksin and Pheu Thai, he's become a popular pundit in Thai media.

When you've been rich beyond belief, had the freedom to fly anywhere in the world anytime you want (bar Covid), buy anything you want, etc, then to wake up in a room and realize you can't just walk out the door might create a kind of pressure on oneself.

'What in God's name have I done?

Just imagine, they let him in jail for the next few years ....... out of sight. They could do what they wanted, plunder more troughs and the electorate would not really care. His party is toast anyhow .........

Isn't it a total of 8 years on a number of charges. So, I think they are taking the lowest prison sentence and basing it on that.

Thanks.....  ,That's a good idea for plan Z if all the other ABCDEFGHIJKLMNOPQRSTUVWXY.... Did not give satisfaction ......????

Whilst on the face of it I concur that a deal has been made, if I were him I still wouldn't be 100% sure it's going to go as planned.

He's dealing with some of the most corrupt greedy people on the planet and at times must be thinking, "what if these bastards, have me over, take my money and I suddenly die!"

Because that thought would cross my mind.

I think his money will be kept safely out of Thailand.

his inability to withstand pressure

Not a good trait for a future dictator Prime Minister.

Also, would not handle a trip to visit the Titanic very well.

According to Reuters:

"BANGKOK (Reuters) - Former Thai prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra is preparing documentation to draft a request for a royal pardon, but when it would be submitted was at his discretion, his lawyer said on Wednesday."

So now we wait?????????

Stressed? What a joke and weak minded he is. Welcome to real life loser ????????????

It's turning into Tony's Clown World just as expected.

It is a fact that Taksin, came voluntary back to Thailand and know what the deal was that he made when he comes back.

when ask, it is that one can presume that Taksin never would make any deal that made him to return to Thailand without knowing about the situation and wellbeing of the other Billionaires have in Thai Prisons.

Former PM Thaksin Shinawatra has applied for a royal pardon, as confirmed by Wissanu Krea-ngam, the caretaker justice minister.

I think the pardoner needs to think carefully on this. I don't think it will improve his popularity rating.

This could have a more potent impact than the original legal sentencing, as suspicions have lingered from the time he entered prison until his recent relocation to the police hospital. All of this seems to be part of a meticulously orchestrated process," stated Jatuporn.

Yep

Update he has now submitted the request! Again from Reuters:

"BANGKOK (Reuters) - Thailand's former premier Thaksin Shinawatra has submitted a request for a royal pardon, outgoing Justice Minister Wissanu Krea-ngam said on Thursday, his latest move in a long-running power struggle with the country's establishment."

"If a royal pardon is not granted, Thaksin will have to wait two years to submit another request."
