Popular Post snoop1130 Posted August 31, 2023 Popular Post Posted August 31, 2023 Convicted former prime minister Ex-PM Thaksin Shinawatra, who recently began serving an 8-year prison term and is currently receiving medical treatment in the Police General Hospital in Bangkok, has already submitted a petition for royal clemency. Deputy Prime Minister Wissanu Krea-ngam said today (Thursday) that he has already received the request and will examine the details before forwarding it to the prime minister. Wissanu added that he does not know if it will be handled by this administration or the next. Procedurally, a prime minister will forward such petitions to the King. Popular Post OneMoreFarang Posted August 31, 2023 Popular Post Posted August 31, 2023 Does he have to provide reasons why he should get the royal clemency? Good behavior - fail. He is really sorry for his crimes - fail. He compensated the damaged parties - fail. He will never do it again - fail. He was already a substantial time in jail - fail. I am sure we could add 100 other reasons why he doesn't deserve what he asks for. 15 3 4 4 10 9 10

Popular Post billd766 Posted August 31, 2023 Popular Post Posted August 31, 2023 It has nothing at all to do with Deputy Prime Minister Wissanu Krea-ngam. The sooner he learns that the better. He doesn't seem to understand that he is not important and he never was. The application has been sent to someone way above his pay grade and position. It seems to me that he cannot let go of the tiny bit of power he had. His actual position, and has been since the election in May, is only a Deputy Prime Minister in a caretaker government. Somewhat akin to an office boy or a gofer. 7 2 3 7

That officer looks first at the documents, and if there is something he doesn't like, then he won't accept it. And if the initial guy thinks all is fine, then he gives it to his supervisor to check. And the list goes on. Coming back to this case. Any such application will not be presented to the highest instance right away. There is a path to follow. 4 1 2

Popular Post webfact Posted August 31, 2023 Popular Post Posted August 31, 2023 ‘Sickly’ Thaksin Has Petitioned For Royal Pardon By Thai Newsroom Reporters A PETITION FOR ROYAL pardon over an eight-year jail term earlier sentenced for “sickly” de facto Pheu Thai boss Thaksin Shinawatra has already been filed barely a week after his return from self-exile abroad. Caretaker deputy prime minister Wissanu Krea-ngam confirmed today (Aug.31) the deposed prime minister has recently had his family file the petition through the Ministry of Justice for His Majesty King Maha Vajiralongkorn to grant him royal pardon after he had been sentenced by court to eight years in prison due to a few separate lawsuits over misconduct of which he had been convicted during his premiership nearly two decades earlier. Nevertheless, an inmate is legally bound to have served a minimum of one-third of his or her convicted jail term before being officially considered whether to deserve royal pardon for which a time-consuming process will be taken.
