No chance that they'll accept that but can't blame him for trying it on.

Agree, no chance Thai Imm. will agree. They shouldn't agree it would set an unwise precedent.

Sounds like he's genuine but quite naive. Best he gets back to India.

He has funds but does he have a ticket to return home? Payment for his return ticket (unless he already has one) should be the main priority right now.

The foreign man reportedly asked to extend his stay to travel to Pattaya as he still had money left over for the trip.

At least the lad has money to spend...not like some tourist overstaying farangs who think themselves superior but are totally broke.

True, this is the first time I heard that somebody had set his budget too high and overstayed because of wealth, LOL

Thai Immigration Police arrested an Indian man in the southern province of Phattalung for overstaying his visa by over five months. The foreign man reportedly asked to extend his stay to travel to Pattaya as he still had money left over for the trip.

Must've been thrifty...

Pity he didn't make it to the airport with his remaining cash. 20000 would have enabled him to return and evade being banned and jailed before departing.

"      Thailand, renowned for its scenic beauty. His Thai journey encompassed visits to Pattaya, Bangkok, and Narathiwat,...."

You have to laugh don't you? Scenic beauty? Pattaya? Bangkok?, and Narathiwat which is very close to the areas that UK citizens are advised to stay away from because of possible violence (Yala/Pattani).

And he's just been "busted" for overstay, and wants an extension so he can spend his money? I don't beleeeeve it!
