Surveillance footage showed the bus from route 558 speeding down Rama II Road

No vehicle should be speeding in a built up area, ever. In most countries they understand that.

The CCTV did not appear to show it "speeding".

Yes, it's as close as they'll ever get!

Not a brake failure. More like the bus not allowing adequate space for braking. Some idiot bus drivers think they’re driving a racing car.

Make from 'some' but many.

I think that the bus causing this mess, is one of the new Bangkok electric busses.

You are correct, in the latest news the driver now admits pressing the accelerator by mistake. I wonder if he had any training on an electric bus.

This country needs an annual inspection like Britain's MOT. I ask sick of sharing roads with old pick ups and lorries belching out black smoke, looking like they have never ever been washed and with faulty brakes.

Brake failure, Micro Naps, Wet Roads all may be part of the cause of an accident, but they are not an excuse ... negligence should be prosecuted.  Saying you had brake failure does not excuse you from the results of your negligence.

The driver of a public electric bus admitted to dozing off at the wheel and accidentally pressing the accelerator, which resulted in a massive car accident in Bangkok on September 26th. The man initially told Thai media that the accident was caused by a brake failure.

Modern technology same old excuse.

bus with faulty brakes

It's a new bus, I've seen the old 50 year old buses stop.

Incompetence (driver or mechanic).

Too many reports of accidents blaming 'faulty brakes'

We never hear the truth ????

Problem is the fines and compensation payouts here are very low compared to other countries, A relative of mine in the UK got run over by a speeding bus, and got paid out 250,000 GBP.

Twice?

OK, I just heard on the local radio station that the bus driver fell asleep.

As I said, nothing to do with faulty brakes.

Posting should be edited.

How about changing the article headline to 'Incompetant bus driver falls asleep blaming brake fault' ????

Did you read the linked article? What you've written has no connection to what happened, none at all.

This is video of it and it clearly shows that bus was not slowing down which it should from hitting others. So finding out it wasn't brake failure isn't much of a surprise...
