Senator Porntip asked to leave restaurant in Iceland

A Thai man, claiming to be the owner of a sushi restaurant in Iceland, told Senator Porntip Rojanasunan to leave the restaurant because she was not welcome there.

 

The senator was visiting Iceland’s capital Reykjavik with a group of friends, including Bhumjaithai party MP Mallika Jirapunvanit. She posted stories and photos about her trip, which started on September 21. Her mission for going is to see the Aurora Borealis (northern lights).

 

 

The man in the restaurant, whose name is not known, has a Facebook account called “Ari Alexander”. He did not give a reason why he wanted Porntip to leave the place, saying only what she has damaged Thailand tremendously.

 

The incident came to light as “Ari” Facebooked lived from his car as he was driving to the restaurant. He said he heard that “that person” he hated was there. He was also heard saying that, if he could, he would hit that person with his car.

Thai Owner Of Shop In Iceland Shows Senator Pornthip The Door

SENATOR Khunying Pornthip Rojanasunan is in the eye of social media storm today (Sep. 30) after a TikTok video went viral showing a Thai man telling a woman with colourful hair to leave his shop in Reykjavík, Iceland, because he does not like what she did to Thailand, and it was later confirmed that it was the senator who was kicked out, Sanook.com said.

 

This video attracted a lot of comments with some agreeing with the shop owner’s action while others disagreed yet others asked about Dr. Pornthip taking leave from her parliamentary duties to go on this trip.

 

The unidentified Thai man spoke in both Thai and English and in one part said in English: “Get the h*** out of here. You are corrupt. Go, you get out of here. You not belong here, we don’t welcome you.”

Vote Against Pita Led To Pornthip Being Turned Away From Iceland Restaurant: Chaithawat

MOVE FORWARD leader Chaithawat Tulathon today (Oct. 1) said the root cause of Senator Khunying Pornthip Rojanasunan being told to leave a restaurant in Reykjavík, Iceland, by its Thai owner is the anger felt by many people over senators blocking the party’s former leader and current advisory chairman Pita Limjaroenrat from becoming prime minister, Naewna newspaper said.

 

At a joint House/Senate meeting on July 13 the total of votes in support of Pita came out 51 votes short of a minimum of 375 as a combined force of 199 MPs and senators abstained from voting only to deny Pita’s attempted rise to power in addition to 182 others who cast nay votes against him.

 

That compared to 324 lawmakers, mostly being MPs attached to the Move Forward-led coalition partners, who cast yea votes for him.

Heated divisions in Thai politics go viral online from a Sushi restaurant in Reykjavik Iceland

Senator Pornthip Rojanasunan was on holiday last week in Iceland when she entered a sushi restaurant in the capital Reykjavik only to be confronted by a visibly irate Thai expat, identified as Mr Ari Alexander, the chef at the establishment, who pointed and urged her to leave saying she was not welcome. The incident was streamed live on Facebook and other social media channels.

The online spat appears to have been disappearing from the internet with the Facebook account linked to Mr Ari Alexander closed. It follows more coverage of Thailand last week in New York where the Thai Lawyers for Human Rights (TLHR) were feted for their work defending those prosecuted under the Criminal Code for their political activism since street protests broke out in Bangkok in 2020.

 

The new government, seeking to boost inward investment, is anxious to promote Thailand as a fully functioning democracy supported by the rule of law and respect for human rights at its core. However, international news coverage continues to focus on the failure to elect a Move Forward-led government after the May 14th General Election, an issue which is also evidenced in public opinion polls which shows voters do not support the compromise government that took up office in  September led by Srettha Thavisin.

Well-known Thai Senator Pornthip Rojanasunan, on Sunday, appeared to rule out legal action over an incident which occurred in the Icelandic capital of Reykjavik this week when she was verbally abused and refused service at a sushi restaurant while on holiday with friends by a Thai expat living in the northern Atlantic country because of her politics. The controversy was linked, on Sunday, by newly elected Move Forward Party leader Chaitawat Tulathon to the failure of Mr Pita Limjaroenrat to be elected Prime Minister in July this year because of opposition and lack of support from within the unelected Thai Senate although Mr Chaitawat decried discriminating against any person because of their politics.

 

Controversial Thai Senator, Khunying Pornthip Rojanasunan, has returned to Thailand after being involved in an incident during the week at a restaurant in the Icelandic capital Reykjavik.

All these supporters in the Thai parliament of the dictatorship should be red flagged, and not be able to leave Thailand. 

 

At the same time, all western countries needs to block Thailand for getting any commodities from a western country or from Japan.

I thought her name sounded familiar.

"Khun Ying Pornthip Rojanasunand, also spelled Porntip Rojanasunan (Thai: พรทิพย์ โรจนสุนันท์; RTGS: Phonthip Rotchanasunan; born 21 December 1954[1]) is a Thai forensic pathologist, a currently member of the Senate of Thailand and medical doctor.

First appearing in the media in 1998, her work and outlandish hairstyles quickly granted her celebrity status, and she became the best known of Thailand's forensic scientists. An author of several best-selling memoirs, her work introduced the Thai public to the role of DNA evidence, among other forensic methods, in crime investigations.

High-profile cases Pornthip was involved in include the murder of Jenjira Ploy-angunsri in 1998, her controversial re-examination of the death of Hangthong Thammawattana in 2003 (which was later disputed by other forensic physicians), and the identification of victims in the 2004 Indian Ocean tsunami (for which she was both commended and criticised).

In June 2009, she was one of the pathologists investigating the death of actor David Carradine.

She frequently criticised the Royal Thai Police over their handling of forensic evidence, and was influential in the establishment of the Central Institute of Forensic Science, which works independently of the police and reports directly to the Ministry of Justice, and of which she served as director."

"Pornthip was a vocal and sustained supporter of the GT200, a "remote substance detector" that Pornthip and the UK manufacturer claimed could detect from a distance various substances including explosives and dead bodies. Several nations have found the devices to be fraudulent.

When news of the fraudulent nature of the GT200 devices became public in 2010, Pornthip defended the use of the devices, even if they were proven ineffective. She noted, "I do not feel embarrassed if the bomb detector is proven ineffective. Personally, I have never handled the device myself. But my people have used it and it is accurate every time."

Note that during the Koh Tao murder investigation, she and the Central Institute of Forensic Science were not involved.

"Thailand's best-known forensic scientist, Dr Pornthip Rojanasunand, whose institute was not allowed any involvement in the investigation, testified at the trial that the crime scene had been poorly managed and evidence improperly collected."

I found it - odd - as well that it seems there were 199 MPs and Senators that abstained from the vote for Pita to become the next PM.

If you started off in politics with the idea to do things the right way you either find out there is no hope of that happening as the game is completely fixed or you jump in bed with the snakes and sell your soul.

Consumer or discrimination law as well no doubt . 

Demanding a customer to leave the restuarant for political reasons may not comply with  law in Iceland .
