Drop all processed foods and go on a raw vegetable/fruit diet for as long as possible, at least 2 weeks or even longer. Walk and or swim. Within the first week you’ll notice big changes, after 2 weeks you’ll be running like an firehose again.

Well the anti inflammatory effects of the tumeric combo helps my diagnosed BPH. Stop it for 2 weeks then have the reduced flow again.  Whatever.. it works thanks kindly Sheryl.

MORCH... The hullabaloo about lead-adulterated tumeric (from some countries) poisioning people may have been unfounded propaganda and fake backup by self proclaimed experts. Hasn't killed me in my 120 years.

The strict food analysts world wide dont seem to have warned about it.

The heading that Turmeric is the culprit is misleading.

Take that probable B.S. with a "grain of salt".

I had a double serving of Bacon this morning....not worried much about any of this diet stuff.

Make changes when I have to, enjoy while I can.

Frankly, don't put much stock in all this eat this herb, this spice and so on.

If you do a search on the forum for the following: BPH, Rezum, prostate, TURP, iTind, Urolift, you will find many, many posts about your "problem" and the steps taken to resolve it using the above procedures and info on them.

 

I had a TURP in Epworth Hospital, Melbourne, back in 2010 or thereabouts and although it seemed to go smoothly at first, it wasn't all plain sailing. Prior to this I had tried various drugs like doxazosin, tamsulosin, finasteride and so on, and also put my misguided faith in things like saw palmetto, stinging nettle root and other witchcraft, none of which worked.

 

There should be enough information on those threads for you to get an answer to anything you are enquiring about.

 

And just to pass on some words of wisdom from my urologist in NZ; if you are going to have a TURP or anything of that ilk, find a urologist surgeon who has done many of them.

None of that, in my case - but there was an odd side-effect when started on medication. Brain gets aroused, equipment sort of gets the message later. As in 5-15 minutes later. Had a stupid situation with the ECG nurse - pretty as they come, almost cut from a manga cartoon, and hovering all over. No reaction. 10 minutes later an older model comes in, and starts with the blushing and giggling. Dosage was cut and issue resolved.

Apparently you are one of the lucky ones.

 

My urologist is also a highly experienced surgeon. When I pointed out his advice was against his best interests in terms of income, he said he would rather give sound advice.

Consulted two doctors here, two back home (both familiar with me and family). None had reservations on the level you describe.

I'm not an expert, and not saying what you posted is not true, incorrect or anything like that. Just giving my experience.

As someone with some insight (MD) I can agree that you can have a preference for a certain technique, but if you run into a condition for which it is not suitable you would refer. And also some conditions can adequately be dealt with in different ways. And finally, you can always go for a second opinion. But my main point is not to seek advice here.

Had to look up topic, thought your last line was about not seeking advice in Thailand, which sounded at odds with your post.

I think such forums aren't too bad for getting some sort of initial info, or maybe references. But even the few posters who seem to know what they are talking about are still posters on an internet forum - think most doctors, even not the top ones, could do better through examination.

I eat 1/2pack of bacon everyday and a minimum of 4 eggs (sometimes 6 -8)   along with a stick of butter

and usually 500grams of beef or lamb

ps,  if you're still worried .   Sloane's make great bacon   no nitrates

 

and then go watch some updated info...

Sometimes it's comforting hearing from other blokes with a similar problem.

It kinda expands your knowledge of the problem a little and makes you more aware of the options so that when the Urologist does advise either medication or operation, you've been somewhat pre informed (so to speak).

If a hospital only does one method and it's suitable the Dr will recommend it, where a better treatment available at another hospital won't be recommended

Is the surgical route for BPH - complete removal of the prostate?

 

I was offered a Radical Prostatectomy for advanced prostate cancer.  I understand that the illness is totally different but if the surgical route is the same, you may need to consider whether or not you wish to remain active between the sheets.  I was told that they would do their best to spare the nerves that control your ability but there was no guarantee.

 

I went for Radio Therapy for that very reason - still no guarantees but a little less chance of damage and I was lucky. I don't think External Beam RT is an option for BPH but I believe some places are now using Transurethal Brachytherapy (a form of radio therapy) to treat it. Maybe worth discussing with your doctor?

My experience is that doctors in a government hospital would be more likely to provide details about procedures and treatments not provided by the hospital, but may be available at private hospitals (more likely, such that they are aware of). Doctors in private hospitals, maybe less so.

In my experience if there is a better method you will also want to use it. That's what continuous education is for.

No, it is not.

Alternative treatments also reduce some tissue to shrink size, through various methods.

 

Brachytherapy and other forms of radiation are nto used for BPH

I had a similar problem 4 years ago and my doctor prescribed medication. I'm not good at taking tablets and so a Google search indicated, diet and exercise. 

I started a Keto and Mediterranean style diet and started walking most days.
