A former US soldier sought help from locals in Pattaya after a Thai man punched him in the face. The victim was unaware of the motive for the attack.

Mueang Pattaya Police Station officers and rescue team rushed to the Pattaya Sai Song Road near Soi Pattaya 13 after a Thai woman, 44 year old Nattanan, notified them about the injured foreign man, who was later identified as a former US soldier, Demetri.

According to the officers, the 53 year old’s face and shirt were covered in blood. He was using tissue paper to absorb the blood that kept coming out of his nose. Rescuers gave him first aid before taking him to Mueang Pattaya Hospital. The doctor later revealed that Demetri had a broken nose.

The Thai woman, Nattanan, recounted the situation she witnessed to the police. She explained that she was in her massage shop in front of Soi Pattaya 13, and her employees asked her to check on the foreign man who came to the shop for help.

Nattanan stated that she saw the man lose a lot of blood and immediately reported the matter to the police and rescue team. While waiting, she talked to the foreigner and learned that he had been attacked by a Thai man.

I’m sure if it was a Thai guy punched in the face and sustained a broken nose the police would have checked CCTV and had someone in custody now !

As always, need the other side to this story. It's a worrying precedent if guys are just lashing out for no reason (however meagre that

reason might be). It's something I've witnessed in the UK, but not here.

Something I have witnessed also in the US ( NYC) and in Germany but not here in Thailand unless alcohol involved

Yes I recall a spate of people randomly being punched real hard as they walked the streets in the USA, some form of entertainment. Needs to be stopped before they take it to another level.

Once referred to as a king hit, now widely called the "coward punch!"

He should try to see the funny side of it....he got to see the 'Land of Smiles' from a new perspective and got to meet new people.

I feel the same way about the US but against the regime not their individuals.

The original article does say police are checking security cameras.

Also at the end it mentions that a similar thing happened to a Russian woman about a month ago.

I think if the world next December and January nobody goes to pattaya, and that is the only way to teach them. And I mean nobody goes there. Readers, airlines, taxis, hotels and bar girls will all suffer until they clean up their act.

3 cheers to the massage girls crying out "No one left behind"!  bwahahaha!

Personally not seen this in the UK unprovoked but I have here. Local males can be incredibly jealous of farangs (or he may have been slighted previously or just nuts) and Pattaya is not the most convivial of places.

Read the link.

Mueang Pattaya Police Station would review the security cameras along the road to see where the attack took place and who the assailant was.

It seems to me lots of Americans don't realize that their ghetto language might work at home but is not suitable for more civilized parts of the world.

You usually make such good posts, but I guess everyone can have a bad day.

They tried that during the pandemic. Didn't have any long term effect, it seems. Same with Phuket after the tsunami. The scum always rises back to the top.

ONE Thai takes on a US (ex) marine albeit with a cowardly blow?  This is startling news.  The Thai equivalent to Billee No-Mates.

more to this story than being told.   Was he chatting up the Thai guy's gf ...

Whenever I feel like going back to Pattaya, all I need to do is read another story like this.

Probably, there WAS a motive.

It would be interesting to listen to the Thai man who punched him.
