Fashion, status, and the health benefits of imbibing one's own recirculated saliva.

Wearing masks when the PM2.5 levels are dangerously high (like now) is sensible.  However, I suspect most don't wear the most effective ones.

Probably because of high PM2.5 and/or there is a bit of flu going around.

Yep, they were always worn by many in BKK especially, long before covid.

I see the re-emergence of masks in my area by locals, especially noticeable is all my local 7-11 outlet staff  at 3 different shops are now wearing them.

And inhale/exhale through your nose?

Regimentation of the populace, beginning at preschool level, has produced a citizenry of unquestioning, non- curious sheeples. When I witness motorcycle riders in the rural areas wearing masks, I shake my head in disbelief.

I travelled by yellow songtel yesterday to Hangdong in Chaingmai full to capaclty both ways and i was the only person not wearing a mask

Plenty of people wearing masks in urban areas too, both on and off motorbikes.  But, as has already been pointed out, this was common pre-Covid and is currently recommended because of the pollution.

AQI over swathes of Thailand, urban and rural, has been in the red for several days. Your natural nasal filters can't filter out the ultrafine particles that cause long term lung damage (which is why miners, flour millers, woodworkers, quarrymen,  anyone working in dusty atmospheres used to die young of lung disease).

Why wouldn't you wear a mask? Even if you think COVID is a hoax, 'flu isn't, nor is COPD.

Face Mask has not gone away where I live, everyone wears a face mask, even in the Village all ages, last Friday went to Central Westgate shocked to see about 25% of people not wearing them, mostly white people and young Thais.

I go every day 5 houses up the Village to a retired Nurse to get my dressing changed would not think of not wearing a mask

Met my Cousin visiting Thailand at Westgate, he is 72 next month, had the Jab + all boosters in the UK, yet still got Covid twice..

In Pattaya all the staff in the large Lotus's have to wear a mask. I give a silent laugh when I see them.

At least your cousin had the jab and therefore survived Covid, twice.

No, I believe that the number of people wearing masks are continuing to decline despite the government's efforts to whip people back up into a panic, and this is a very good thing.

Tell me. I have COPD and it is a buggerrr.

Or as one young lady said 'with a mask I do not need makeup'. :whistling:

the young doctor that died from lung cancer for just being in Chiang Mai probably raise awareness of the danger from the dust

So everyone in Chiang Mai is going to die from the dust?

Chiang Mai has horrendous air quality at certain times of the year - it's not too bad at the moment.  But Bangkok, Pattaya, Hua Hin and pretty much everywhere in the North/East all have it as well.

We're all going to die!

It's your imagination.

Perhaps get a hobby and stop fretting about what other people do to protect themselves against deadly viruses.
