Trump wins Iowa caucuses, cementing frontrunner status in 2024 race

You are (unsurprisingly) conflating two things: Trump being popular with Republican voters and Trump being popular overall.

All this proves is he has a lock on the Republican party (something we all knew) and will (legal issues aside), get the Repuublican nomination. This is of no surprise to anyone.

The test of course will be in November when the nation votes. Then we will see.

You appear to have missed the point (again) which is of no surpise.

Allow me to explain the obvious. The fact that Trump is so popular with Republican voters is a good sign for the Republicans chances of winning in November. You see, if a large proportion of them wanted to vote Republican but hated Trump they might be tempted to abstain or even worse, vote Democrat. If the majority of Republican voters think Trump is "Da Man" then there is very little chance they will abstain or vote Democrat.

I did read it all but that's irrelevant. You claimed that "It won't make comfortable reading for some." What was there about the nature of Trump's support that wasn't already widely known?

Well, when he went, he doesn’t whine too much the last election he lost. It’s been proven over and over. He lost all his legal battles about it but he still whining about it if he becomes president once again, America America will be in deep trouble. TIT.

Move to where ? Any state that is not democrat blue - democrat states are going to be high tax - just look at the ridiculous laws coming in in California where you will be punished for selling your house !! LOL. You want to lose your money - go ahead move there, all the blue states are losing populace - surely that must give even the deluded a clue !

Blue states crime ridden and third world politics. Why is that I wonder…⬇️

…maybe due to the voters in blue states low IQ levels and being unable to weed through the media propaganda.

I'm not American, like most Europeans I look at what is happening in America with dismay and at Trump with disgust. Are these two candidates the best that the USA can do? One belongs in a care home and the other in prison.

I've talked to a few of them and they say he's the lesser of two evils or some other Jnonsense like I'm not voting for the man I'm voting for the issues, and he represents my issues more than the Democrats. It's a total compromise and it's a "sell your soul to back the issues" kind of deal but nonetheless that's the way they think.

And of course the other issue is that the Democrats just made a huge mistake by supporting Biden for a second term, having Harris close to the presidency is a nightmare, she's a nightmare. And Joe is ancient.

Joes support of for Israel will cause him to loose in 24

There were 6 candidates. He was 16% of the people standing and still got 51% of the vote. More than all the others combined. He had well over double the nearest contender. Even the BBC acknowledged it was a landslide. Comprende?

Neither registered Republicans nor Democrats will decide who is the winner. It's the Independent voters who will de facto decide.

Trump is popular with 50.9% of Republican voters in a Republican state. That means 49% of Republicans preferred someone else.

IMO the chances of Republican voters abstaining are quite good.

Anyone else - Haley, DeSantis or even Christie could win against Biden. Trump will lose even worse than he did in 2020, with the stench of 91 indictments still on trial.

Nevertheless, 49% chose not to vote for Trump.

Which has bearing on your statement:

You see, if a large proportion of them wanted to vote Republican but hated Trump they might be tempted to abstain or even worse, vote Democrat.”

No - it doesn't have any bearing.

My statement stands. A large proportion clearly do not hate Trump. 51% of them clearly like him. There is no evidence that the other 49% hate him. My statement is accurate, maybe you should re-read it.

Biden on the other hand....

Surely the candidate with the most diehard followers wins the vote anyway.

You appear to be clutching at straws. The Democrats are clearly worried. And they should be.

I think he'll focus on the message that they weren't killing the heck out of each other last time he was Prez.

The beauty is he gets a 2-fer with that message, given that neither were the Russkies and the Ukes, when he was in office.

The born again evangelical hypocrites leading the way to a Trump dictatorship. How can anyone who claims to be a christian even consider voting for Trump? It beggars belief.

So a gang of bible beaters that have bought the entire christian religious fairy tales hook line and sinker also believe that trump is ordained by god to be president.  Doesn't surprise me at all that delusional bible beaters line up for trump.  Most likely trump will build them a nice ark, part the seas, turn the water to wine and then come back from the dead...meantime ok to lie repeatedly sexually assault women, fantasize openly about having sex with your daughter, screw hookers, cheat on various wives over and over, constantly brag about everything, say u never have to ask forgiveness as u have never done anything wrong, guilty of fraud for decades of financial lies, run fraudulent university programs to cheat people, cozy up to cold killers like putin and his romance buddy in north korea, encourage violence, encourage hate your opponents, encourage hate any and all who are not white americans, try and foment a coup, lie about election fraud over and over and over with zero proof...yeah boy sure reminds me of the jesus that they tried to shove down my throat when i was a kid...it's called a cult.

Anyone who has ever even remotely studied the bible and Christianity knows that trumps actions and words are about as far from christian as possible.

I’ll grant you someone is clutching at straws.

I don’t see Democrats being overly concerned about Republicans choosing the candidate they hope the Republicans are dumb enough to put up at the election.

Not necessarily .

The candidate with the most supporters showing up , not the most diehard supporters wins.

Just one in a long line of empty trolling comments from that party. Funny considering how the crybabies who supported Trump have been whining about a stolen election for the past 3 years.

Remember the seven deadly sins? I’m sure Trump is guilty of them all, repeatedly.

Pride: he constantly brags about his achievements and makes everything about himself

Greed: self explanatory

Wrath: can you think of someone more vengeful and thin-skinned than Trump?

Envy: again, self explanatory

Lust: he cheated on all his wives, many, many times.

Gluttony: he’s kind of fat, to say the least. Claims he weighs 220, when we all know that’s a big fat lie.

Sloth: Trump spent 285 days playing golf during his presidency. That’s almost a whole year.
