The prospect of a second Trump presidency has the intelligence community on edge

Understandable that Trump and his ilk attack anything attached to the idea of intelligence. It really is quite sad how they laud up ignorance as a virtue.

  • It's ironic how when one retires his prior employment becomes so much more exciting than what reality really was. I'll bet you're a hero in all your afternoon naps.

  • As a former case officer, I know first hand what it takes to do the job and what sort of intelligence COs gain access to. One such thing is terrorist threats, most of which are rolled up and prevented

  • It is a weak person who makes a comment such as yours, as well as being made out of ignorance.   It says much about your own inadequacies and need to project. Your life is likely quite near

Never thought I'd read the words Trump and intelligence in the same sentence.

The prospect of a second trump presidency has the former Australia PM Malcolm Turnbull on edge too.

'Trump's 'creepy' embrace of Putin is a threat to Australian security' says Turnbull.

Mr Turnbull served as prime minister for part of Mr Trump's first term in office and says he observed his "awe" for Putin.

"When you see Trump with Putin, as I have on a few occasions, he's like the 12-year-old boy who goes to high school and meets the captain of the football team. My hero!

"It is really creepy … the creepiness was palpable," he said.

Turnbull  has little cause to worry because trump has a snowman's chance in hell of getting elected again.  This is the Primer, during the General election all   Biden has to do is play parts of trump's inarticulate and frankly bizarre speeches.

Unfortunately, Trump could win, especially is there are third party candidates. Being smug about this increases the chances that he will.

I see a similarity to the Maoist cultural revolution where the most idiotic and unskilled cultists ruled and the elites that knew stuff and could actually do stuff were made into villains. Instead of little red book, they have their big red hat, fitting as they don't read.

Ye have little faith in Trump's chance of a second term. Everyday I start the day with US news expecting to see Biden has stepped down.

Not bloody likely but either one is subject to health crisis risks and in Trump's case incarceration risk.

Every time biden climbs the shortened stairs into Air Force 1, there's a chance.

A similar phenomenon was observed in Pol Pot's Cambodia where anyone considered an intellectual was targeted for special treatment. This included teachers, lawyers, doctors, clergy, and even people wearing glasses, as it suggested literacy.

It’s a grim reminder of the dangers of extreme ideologies.

I hear what you are saying , and I thought the same.

But  as you might have realised by now , I love to analyze things. IMO it is not being smug.

First and more importantly , who  a third party candidate hurts depends on which side of the political spectrum such candidate is.

IMO it is more likely to be to the right rather than the left. There are many on the right that hate trump, and as I see none on the left that hate Biden so much , to insure a trump win. Anyone on the left that insures a trump win does not have a future in left politics, or right politics , so no future in politics,

IMO it would be politicas suicide.

Noe lts take trump himself. When he got elected, he lost the popular vote by what? 3 million votes?

at which time he was an unknown entity and many thought that maybe the successful billionaire could change things.

Now we know better, we had for years of being tired of winning:laugh:, then another 4 of indictments, an insurrection, and and inarticulate and bizarre speeches.

When he won  he had more of the woman vote, more of the independent vote, and all of the republican vote.

Where are we now, Less of the woman vote. less of the independent vote and less of the republican vote

He IMO have a very small chance and only do to unforeseen consequences.

But I was wrong that he had no chance when he got elected, and as such there is a mall chance that I could be wrong again. , but very small

Look dude the vast majority of democrats want to put up someone other than Biden mostly because of the optics of his age, but he's made his decision, and when push comes to shove there is that binary choice and he will probably win against trump the traitor, but there are so many variables in what could happen between now and election day that it's ridiculous to be overconfident either way.

Good to know, you might like to know that every morning I check the obituaries to see if the fat boy ate his last Big Mack

but I fail to see how either of this events  increase or decrease trump's  chances,

I thought this was hilarious: "...with concerns mounting over the potential for unprecedented politicization of intelligence agencies."

Your link featured quotes from Turnbull, who trashes Trump but was an even more unpopular leader than him.

Can you see how stupid that is?

Frankly, if the people vote T into office again they deserve everything that happens after that.

That's because he was a Liberal (conservative) PM. They're always unpopular. Gillard's problem was that she advocated a carbon tax but then the fossil fuel propaganda machine spent huge money on a disinformation campaign opposing it and the yobbos swallowed it. She backtracked on it as a result which was a huge mistake, ruining her credibility. Now the taxpayers foot the bill for the climate change disaster.
