Crackdown on Foreigners Breaking Law: Thai Authorities Shut Down Car Rental Company

Phuket Provincial Police Region 8, along with spokespersons, convened to monitor measures against foreigners' misconduct. Since October 1st, there have been 614 cases of foreign nationals violating laws.

 

Those failing to meet criteria face immediate visa revocation. Today, authorities raided and shut down a car rental company in Thalang District, discovering Thai nationals involved in money laundering, reported Thai Rath.

On March 19th, Pol. Lt. Gen. Suksawat Sukwimol, Phuket Provincial Police Commander, ordered Pol. Col. Surapong Thanajit, Chief of Phuket Provincial Police Region 8, and Pol. Col. Achayon Kraithong, Police Spokesperson, to convene and oversee preventive measures against foreign nationals' misconduct.

 

Pol. Lt. Col. Sineleat Sukhum, Deputy Chief of Phuket Provincial Police Region 8, reported 32,207 foreign residents in Phuket, primarily engaged in business (27.94%), private education (25.04%), and retirement (15.19%).

Among the 614 arrests, charges include working without permits, illegal entry, overstaying visas, drunk driving, drug offenses, robbery, prostitution, assaulting officers, property crimes, and sexual offenses.

 

Cases are referred to Immigration for visa review. Notably, 98 visas have been revoked. Measures discussed include crackdowns on foreign criminal syndicates to enhance tourist safety and maintain lawfulness.

I wish they did the same for the Thai people.. Than it is justified because everybody has to follow the laws.. But now it are only the foreigners are being checked.. How many Thais are driving drunk, with no helmets or drivers licenses or under influence of drugs or smoke e cigarettes.. It surely seems that the Thais are superior and can do as they please, while others have to follow  the laws.. More Catholic than than the pope?

It's a good point we'll put. 

 

Also while we doing this what about if this tax law wants foreigners to pay tax on money in why they kids not have free education, reduced medical treatment and halt the dual pricing in places like national parks.

Things are getting dark for shady farangs. Even with the new tax legislation, those who have "bought" their visa with the help of so-called agents due to lack of their own financial resources will run into big problems! Recipients of old-age pensions must present a confirmation from the respective consulate for the exact amount! I think there will be an exodus of farangs from this group alone!

So you are comparing the number of offences committed by foreigners overall, including tourists and illegal entries, with the number of residents - and that's incorrect.

of course they can do what they want, this is thailand and they are thai.

 

tbh, not all thais have this attitude, as with every country there is the xenophobic minority that have a loud voice.

 

i also suspect the government is happy that people are distracted from more pressing domestic issues such as the economy...
