It seems that most on here have forgotten the 0.2% thing. Fortunately the medical only nonsense was passed right on by and profits made from crime boses, generals and the BIB was taken away. I'm all for young kids not being able to buy it but what is the harm to society? I've seen increased crime stated but this is nonsense. Crime and meth, sure but not dope. I would love to see evidence to dispute this. Crime associated with dope is only from it being illegal. Smuggling, growing, dealing and smoking. Recriminalisation hence will increase crime.

Just wait till he gets more foothold on the government. If you recall he is not just anti-drug.. He is also the worst for anti-foreigners. I regret when that day will come. But as seen there is already anti-foreigner sentiment being driven out of proportion. 

I do not think protests will help. Protests recently have had no effect on the decisions made by the ruling party.

But it seems the new Thai government has now labeled cannabis as a 'bad foreign influence.' And without any scientific justification or proven medical malfeasance, treating cannabis like all unauthorized drugs coming into Thailand illegally as an attack on the Thai people.

It's like the new government feels it must show it is even more nationalistic (and xenophobic?) than the military-led government to remain in power, ie., through the next election against growing populism towards more individual freedom.

"Pothead". Well it's clear what you think. Having a joint or two doesn't make a person a "pothead" just like having a beer or three doesn't make a person an alcoholic. I for one would be happy to buy from a shop rather than sneaking around corners to buy some knowing the BIB would want a backhander to turn a blind eye. Still if you think supporting corruption and crime bosses is the way to go then that's your oppinion and you're entitled to it. Dope has always been availble here and always will be. How it can be obtained is the question.

Better the youngers take yaba then I guess. Legal or illegal dope will still be here like yaba just yaba will become a cheap and readily available alternative. Dope goes underground and harder to get then meth problem is very likely to increase along with all the accociated problems not found with dope. IMO this is also a valid point.

The whole decriminalization fiasco was almost certainly the product of complete incompetence

and utter lack forthought. Of course they will eventually get back around to fixing

such a mistake and they will make it a criminal offense again.

I can't imagine you can have a Thaksin government without a drug war

Just look at what the criminalization of drugs has resulted in, in the US. Millions have been locked up, and billions have been spent. And we ended up with the cartels and huge problems in Mexico. 

 

Legalize everything except Fentanyl. Take out the Chinese producers of it. Somehow. A death penalty for those involved in the distribution of it. Otherwise, let people do what they want. Demand will likely  drop.

Before anyone goes on the attack, I can’t vouch for the truth in it nor whether it is related to this? All I can say is that I was just told by a local tourist restaurant owner.
