Heatwave and Climate Change Puts Pressure on Thailand
This post seems more misguided than what I normally expect from you. When you know the planet is going to get warmer... it's not much of stretch to realize that any area that regularly suffers heatwaves will very likely experience them more frequently and/or more intensely. The specific geography determines an area's climate tendencies. It will be rare that the changes in the climate will alter those tendencies. Additional energy added to the atmosphere in the form of heat will make the extreme heat events more common. Is that not obvious to you? -

What’s the best area in Thailand for expats to settle for long-term living?
It sounds and looks like the dream in many ways. But if you like spa massages, Central Festival shopping and a large choice of restaurants then it's not ideal. Unless you can have a place like this within 30 or 40 minutes of Chiang Mai, which you could I guess. -

90-day report without physical passport book
That is saying your 1st 90 day report after (re)entering Thailand must be done in person/via mail so I'm guessing you've been outside of Thailand since you last did a report online. Lots of people (including myself) have experienced the same thing this year despite successfully doing online reports after re-entering Thailand in the past (last year) -

Smart Home automations - anybody using?
I use Google Nest and Alexa , and both are incable of playing a specific Youtube video on the TV. Though they can switch it off. So much for AI taking over.- 1

Is the Tax compliance going to be linked to Visa issuance ?
It is the government, they can link their visas and their taxes to whatever they want. This is a really dumb question. -

What’s the best area in Thailand for expats to settle for long-term living?
Ya know. I've been social all my life. Parties, friends, more parties, get togethers, social events - been there, done that. At 72+, I'm just fine to be like one of two farang within about a 15 kilometer radius, and there aren't many outside of that range either. I had an ample social life in the past. Now I'm quite happy with quiet and solitude and living life in a Buddhist slow-lane. I have my pack of nine dogs and some other critters and a garden. "Needing a social life?" Good memories and water under the bridge. I'm good.- 1

Do you want President Harris to pardon Trump?
In general, yes, but you are not entitled to "alternative facts". Trumps entire political life is based on lies and convincing the public that the lies are facts. The founders never considered anyone as dishonorable and dishonest as Trump.- 1

Revisiting History: The Unlikely Campaign to Vilify Winston Churchill
It's not that I want to blame Churchill. I rather like Churchill, a very intelligent, interesting, flawed and morally complex character. However, one can't look at WWII and absolve Churchill of all involvement. He did play a role which was not always sensible or above reproach. Some of his decisions were mistakes in hindsight. -

Its Happening - Law to Tax Overseas Income Now in Progress
This is all 100% correct... The most funny thing about their freaking stupid tax ideas is they will get virtually ZERO farangs to pay any tax .....Farangs will do any thing and every thing to avoid paying......Every last one of them.......Even the sad farang who will be putting a confused emoji face on this post will be looking to pay zero taxes....lol.......I guarantee it.......lol -

EV Owners … Real life experience & help thread
Upgraded from a Ora GoodCat 500 to a Tesla Model 3 AWD. 580 km real range (629 km WTP) from Isaan to Sattahip via Bangkok (450 km, partially motorway), keeping A/C on during two stops. One charging stop would suffice from Sattahip to Chiang Rai. The longer range of the Tesla is convenient but not a necessity at least on weekdays. The Ora GoodCat's range is 400 km at 90 km/h but only 280 km at 120 km/h. The Tesla is more comfortable and has better software, but the Ora is still good value and we will keep it. -
