Ah. Silver and gold. The thing that bitcoin can do better and thus why it is so very obviously outperforming it

Only because it is a Ponzi scheme.

Crypto is like a religion, belief in something that can't be seen. Outside a computer screen, it's nothing.

Gold and silver are real. They have industrial applications. The computer screen or smartphone you look at to track bitcoin contains gold and silver, as does 99% of them worldwide.

Governments don't like fungibles beyond their control. Why do you think the US government banned Americans from owning gold bullion for 40 years?

As bitcoin continues to succeed, banks will become less reliable. People will prefer to trust their money to themselves. Its already happening

Careful what you wish for.

Your statement is just a naiv hope with serious consequences you do not fully understand, the other is just pure speculations and hopefully predictions by people who promote the real hoax.

BTC will never be government backed!

I have some bitcoin someplace.  It was given to me in Bangkok some years ago when I had an iphone 4 (gives an idea how long ago).   I was given $5.00.   Within a years time it went up to $20.00 then down to about $15.00.

Then I lost the password to access the wallet (I think that was what it was).   I'm not sure where the iphone 4 is either.   It's around the house someplace.

I wonder how much that bitcoin is now?

You got that right about BTC being an illusion.  At least many major currencies have some form of backup, however, the questionable the backup.

If the internet goes down how accessible will BTC be?

I wonder about the U.S. dollar.  I read today that 80% of the printed U.S. dollar, has been printed since 2020!!!

IIRC when bitcoin started, they were worth about 10 cents. As more were mined, the scarcity value of what was left increased. There may be also a cost factor, they are gluttons for electrical energy.

I know enough about them to realize I would get burnt if I ventured into that market.

I've never lost money on gold, silver and platinum. I stick with what I know.

You sound like my wife.   Sticking with gold at least and diamonds.   She has a thing about diamonds.    But mostly gold.

I don't know, but what do you think the billionaires supporting Komala were expecting in pay back for their support.?

What they were already getting. They didn't want any major changes to the status quo. And most importantly, they didn't want Trump, a wild card that they couldn't control.

Politically, Trump is a creature of the billionaire class. His major backers are  billionaire technocrats (Musk, Peter Thiel), Israeli supporters (Madeline Adelson), old money (Peter Mellon), and Paypal exec David Sacks -- all of whom have extensive ties with the "Deep State," the military, the financial class. What do you think these people want for their money?

How about you get to the point ?

snipped for brevity. As you know trump clearly called for bribes in return for which he would provide extra support for the mega donors industries e.g. one billion dollars from oil industry execs. Just shows how corrupt politics is in the US and no doubt elsewhere.

He's not a populist and he doesn't care about the working man. In a way, he's like Thaksin, a rich elite who sets himself up as an alternative to the existing power structure by appealing to the working class. The people backing him are also outside that structure. They're using Trump to achieve their own agendas, which looks to be a neo-conservative libertarian society with few restrictions on their activities.

I agree.

But Dems are even worse.

An interesting book, by the way, with an insightful explanation of what is occuring in the political sphere right now is "Elites, Counter-Elites, and the Path to Political Disintegration" by Peter Turchin.

"The lessons of world history are clear, Turchin argues: When the equilibrium between ruling elites and the majority tips too far in favor of elites, political instability is all but inevitable. As income inequality surges and prosperity flows disproportionately into the hands of the elites, the common people suffer, and society-wide efforts to become an elite grow ever more frenzied. He calls this process the wealth pump; it’s a world of the damned and the saved. And since the number of such positions remains relatively fixed, the overproduction of elites inevitably leads to frustrated elite aspirants, who harness popular resentment to turn against the established order."

It means, loosening whatever restrictions remain on the rich elite controlling society. If "the people" happen to benefit from their policies but it will be accidental not intentional. These guys see the lower classes as serfs to do their bidding.

Here, watch this.

Maybe it will soothe your paranoia about Musk and company.
