The results of his trial have been publicized for weeks. Heres another spoiler, OJ got off!

Well I and I expect a lot of others haven't seen it as it's just been released.

People usually give a spoiler warning.

This wasn't a movie, it's real life and broadcast on media everywhere.

Gabriel Book, proprietor of an antiquarian bookshop, relies on his vast collection to unravel baffling cases.

He nurtures a group of lovable yet troubled individuals, providing informal protection and guidance.

I downloaded and watched a movie called "The Order" starring Jude Law and Nicholas Hoult and although I'd seen it before I can't remember too much about it, so I'm pleased that I watched it again.

Watching it again made me realise it's significance with regards to what's going on in the US at the moment, and also the mention of the "Turner Diaries" was intriguing in the same way.

If you haven't watched it, then I can recommend it.

Star Trek Strange New Worlds S03 e01 and e02 have dropped.

I thought I would start to watch the second series of the BBC iPlayer "Rogue Heroes" and a major part of this first episode was about the Allied landings in Sicily, and IMO it played fast and loose with the actual events, most probably to appease the US??

My father was with Montgomery in the North African campaign and fought with him at El Alamein, before being shipped to Sicily and then marching up through Italy and although we didn't speak much at all about the war, he did mention that he had no time for "the Americans" and he told me why.......apparently many American pilots were tasked with towing gliders containing British soldiers, across the water to land on the shores of Sicily to start the invasion.

In his account, the American pilots ditched the gliders far too early when they came under Italian fire, resulting in the drowning of a huge number of British soldiers who were weighed down with their heavy backpacks and armaments, however in the series I mentioned above, it was stated that the gliders were "American-made" and were too flimsy for the job, thereby breaking up and falling into the water.

I will not be watching any more of this series.

I binged all six eps, essentially three separate two-part mysteries along with the overall narrative, and greatly enjoyed it. Love the period pieces, filmed on location in Belgium, so it has a slightly different 'feel'. Great cast.

I think I read it has been renewed for a second series.

8.5/10

Some Nights I Feel Like Walking

Philippines movie

I won't post the trailer as it's a tad too graphic, but this indie/art film/festival type film will find more of a niche audience (gay, interest in the Philippines) even though it's quite excellent and addresses universal themes (poverty, prostitution, death and grieving, found family). Interestingly it touches on the dark Duterte style side of Filipino politics regarding police corruption and extrajudicial violence towards suspected druggies.

The project had international backing and was worked on for several years. I haven't looked at the budget but it looks higher budget and features absolutely beautiful and magical cinematography so worth watching just for that. While depicting street hustlers it's not particularly lurid or pornographic. The non explicit sex scenes are needed to tell the story. The director has had previous mass market commercial success, but this was more of an offshoot arty passion project for him.

Strange Darling

Don't read too much about it first, the best thriller movie I have watched this year

I agree it's good. Try Speak No Evil, the US version, that's a bit of a thrill ride as well.

Murder in a Small Town, easy watch quite enjoyable.

Watched This City Is Ours Over a few days, starts well enough then around episode five it starts to get quite silly with long winded meaningless conversations leading up to a melodramatic ending where nothing is resolved leaving it wide open to,  I suppose a series two......

Could have been better with six episodes instead of eight

I could apply these exact words to the Ballard series.  Ten episodes where 6 would have been more than sufficient.

Round about 2020, Michael Connolly initiated the slow death of Bosch by introducing this young female police officer in what at first was a passable novel.

Alas, Connolly was selling out to the wokest of the woke.  Disappointing conclusion to what was an excellent career as a writer.  All the woke boxes on gender, diversity, equity and inclusivity are ticked in this slooooowww series.  There were so many scenes that were excruciatingly long  and did nothing to move the narrative on.

With his latest novel  "Nightshade"  he introduces another person "Detective Stilwel"  who I think will replace Bosch---then again we have his Daughter getting more involved with crime, she is also involved with Ballard ------Joining her cold crimes unit in last but 1 novel..... Pity but then I guess Bosch had to go--a tunnel rat in the 70s would have put him near to 80 now. Pity--great author .......

Thanks for your post.  Connelly is one of my favorite authors and I didn't realize he had a new book out.  Appreciate the heads up!
