I decided to watch the movie, "The Sting" again, this especially after the sad demise of Robert Redford (so the movies, Jeremiah Johnson and All The Presidents Men are also on the agenda) and I enjoyed it.

I remember watching it at the movies when it first came out and what was a first for me, the audience in the cinema actually stood up and applauded at the end of the movie!

I also watched another odd movie which I couldn't remember anything about, called "The Ballad of Buster Scruggs" by the Coen brothers and trying to explain what it was all about would be a bit pointless so I will add this from the Internet: –

"The primary purpose of The Ballad of Buster Scruggs is to explore themes of meaninglessness, the absurdity of human existence, and the omnipresence of death within the context of the American Old West. The film, presented as an anthology of six short stories, uses the genre's iconic imagery to deliver a commentary on human nature and the often-arbitrary nature of life, survival, and justice, frequently characterized by black humor and ironic twists of fate".

So there you have it!!!!

HBO has released a final episode of  The Case Against Adnan Syed. The first 4 were broadcast in 2019. Some locations have it as s01e05 and some as s01e00.

When the matriarch Brita Nelihanka, long-time ruler of the northern wastelands, dies, the relatives gather to distribute the inheritance.
However, the testament offers big surprises, and soon the family is embroiled in a power struggle.

A Remarkable Place to Die is a New Zealand-Australian crime drama series created by Philly de Lacey and written by Lacey and John Banas. It follows Detective Anais Mallory (Chelsie Preston Crayford) on the homicide beat in Queenstown and as she also uncovers more about her sister's mysterious death

Only watched episode one but very promising.

"Chernobyl" is a multi-layered masterpiece. Six years old, and even more scary in view of current events in Ukraine.

IMO this is the best scene from the series.

New series of Alan Partridge starts in a couple of weeks 😊

It's been confirmed the new Alan Partridge series will launch on TV early next month.

How Are You? It's Alan (Partridge) will air on BBC One and iPlayer on Friday 3rd October at 9:30pm, with all six episodes of the series available as a boxset on iPlayer that day.

Originally announced in 2024 under the title And Did Those Feet... With Alan Partridge, the show stars Steve Coogan as the broadcaster character takes a look at mental health.

The blurb explains: "We follow the beloved and, to be fair, revered broadcaster Alan Partridge as he reintegrates into life in Britain after a year working in Saudi Arabia.

Well you have done better than me, as I haven't seen any of those listed!!

I now take to looking at older movies and last night I watched, "Jeremiah Johnson" starring Robert Redford and IMO it is one of the 'great" movies of all time.

Same, #1, and a lot a FF to a very disappointing end.   The others, didn't make it past the trailers, if even watching.

Coldwater

6 episode Brit mini series. Highly entertaining.

Enjoyed this one & “The Guest”…

A cleaner becomes captivated by her wealthy employer's charismatic influence. As their intense friendship grows and secrets emerge, their relationship spirals into a dangerous psychological game where nothing is quite what it seems

The Guardian's choice of 50 best upcoming TV shows. Should see you through the rest of the year.

Had high hopes for Mitchell And Webb Are Not Helping but gave up halfway through the first episode because it was so incredibly cringe. Shame as the rest of their stuff has been gold.

Some good stuff on there.

Looking forward to McKenzie Crooks Small Prophets and Frauds.

Stranger Things seems like years since the last season, probably have to watch it all again.

No, they just keep pestering you for donations every time you go to the site. Just close the pop-up (twice) 🙂

The Girlfriend...

Laura's idyllic life is shattered when her son's new girlfriend seems suspicious. Determined to protect him, Laura's actions spiral out of control, raising the question: Is she justifiably cautious or consumed by paranoia?

https://www.imdb.com/title/tt32267726/

A bit of a slow start but plenty of twists and turns...

Three Kilometers to the End of the World

I guess this one from Romania is more of a film festival film.

What was interesting was that it's a story of a violent assault but director chose to not show the violent assault or show us much of the story of the experience of the assault victim. The story is told showing mostly about everyone else involved.

Apologies, next time I’ll try to include the channel it’s shown on (Which I think if we all did, would help us all).

Glad you enjoyed it 👍🏻
