Why I didn't have or raise kids (full time) until I retired.  Then I had, have the time & money, to enjoy both.  For me, that did mean retiring early, as starting a family (just 1 kid) at normal retirement age, 60+, wouldn't really be fare to any kid, since most life expectancy of us born in the '50s', is less than 70 yrs old.

Who is to blame for the cost of education?  I  Aggree, education has become outrageuously expensive and a difficult obstacle to overcome. 

 

Many young are killing it in this new brave world while others are floundering because society can now afford to support their non-productive lifes.  Young now have a choice to do nothing and survive and many do this and live misserable lifes.

Why is education expensive?   Because it's heavily subsidized by the federal government.  I've been calling it the educational industrial complex for years.

My education was paid for by scholarships.

 

I owed nothing when I finished my degree.

 

I usually had a new job lined up before I quit the previous one.

Supply and demand at work.  Odd how some don't grasp that increasing money available for education wouldn't be correlated to the cost of education.  Great for colleges but not so much for students.

Yes. Musk, Bezos and Zuckerberg. It's easy enough to look up their individual net worth.

 

People face struggles because current taxation structures favor such people, whereas low and middle income earners are hit more heavily.

 

For example, Trump paid $750 tax in 2016 and 2017. Someone on $50,000 pa pays $5900.
