White House Revamps COVID-19 Website to Promote Lab Leak Theory

The White House has relaunched its official COVID-19 website with a dramatic shift in tone and focus, now highlighting the controversial theory that the virus originated from a Chinese laboratory. The updated version of Covid.gov includes a prominent image of President Donald Trump and asserts that the virus’s “true origins” lie in a lab leak, distancing itself from earlier narratives supported during President Joe Biden’s administration.

Previously a hub for public health guidance, vaccine resources, and testing information, the Covid.gov website now takes aim at policies introduced under Biden and criticizes Dr. Anthony Fauci, the former chief medical advisor, for endorsing what it describes as a “preferred narrative that COVID-19 originated naturally.” The site lays out five arguments to support the lab leak theory, drawing attention to Wuhan, where the first known cases of COVID-19 were reported, and its proximity to China’s leading SARS research facility. It also alleges that the lab operated under “inadequate biosafety levels,” contributing to the possibility of an accidental release.

“By nearly all measures of science, if there was evidence of a natural origin it would have already surfaced. But it hasn’t,” the site states, underscoring the administration’s current position on the matter.

The lab leak theory, once dismissed as fringe or conspiratorial, has gained renewed legitimacy within parts of the U.S. government and scientific community in recent years. While no definitive conclusion has been reached, both the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Department of Energy have indicated support for the theory, though with differing levels of certainty.

Adding further weight to the shift in consensus, the Central Intelligence Agency revised its assessment earlier this year, stating that it was “more likely” COVID-19 emerged from a Chinese laboratory rather than through animal-to-human transmission. This new stance prompted a strong rebuke from China, which continues to insist that a lab leak is “extremely unlikely” and has urged the U.S. to “stop politicizing and instrumentalizing the issue of origin-tracing.”

The revamped COVID-19 website emerges at a time of escalating tensions between the United States and China. Washington recently announced new port fees targeting Chinese-affiliated vessels and raised tariffs on a range of goods from China, signaling a deepening trade war between the two economic superpowers.

As the debate over the virus’s origin remains unresolved, both scientifically and politically, the White House’s decision to spotlight the lab leak theory signals a stark departure from previous messaging. It also reflects a broader shift in how the pandemic’s early days are being interpreted and framed in light of ongoing geopolitical struggles.

  • Well what do you know yet another "conspiracy theory"   turning out to be fact not fiction !

  • This is no longer "controversial" or a "conspiracy theory". It is the consensus viewpoint. "Controversial" now would be to insist it came from zoonic transfer from a wet market.

Not only that, but you need to take a close look at any organisations that tried to cover it up.  I can't believe the WHO is still allowed to exist.

Nothing controversial about it.

If you can't acept the truth you cannot prevent it happening again. Let China have "their truth", the rest of the world knows what happened and needs to prepare for the next one.

This coming from the same administration that appoints a cosplayer plastic nut job for HS director this Kennedy nut job for our health director a black out drunk with no experience to run the pentagon……yup folks get your bleach and horse wormer pills at the ready!!im going to take ANYTHING this administration says with a large grain of salt until I’m shown proof not iunendo. It reeks of a ploy  to provide cover for trumps failing trade war.

It's only controversial because people tried to stop people from repeating it, due to the immense power that China wields.

No, it's not the consensus viewpoint. It is and has always been an option.

Consensus means generally accepted/agreed upon and it is now generally accepted/agreed upon that the most likely cause of Covid-19 pandemic was from a leak from the Wuhan Lab not zoonic transfer at the wet market. Zoonic transfer is the least likely option.

The lab was funded by the US. It's those on the left otherwise known as the sheep that believed the WHO, governments, Fauci/CDC and the MSN that would deny this and still hang on to the belief that it didn't leak from the lab.

Why do world leaders want to supress the Chineese Wynan leak that infected the world ?? . In reality the Chineese should be liable for compensation to the millions they infected.

Don't forget the pillow-guy, heard his business really suffered after Trump lost in 2020.  Trump will probably appoint him to some agency so he can "feather" up his pillow industry again!

Trump is all in on China.

However, China controls much of the world's antimony. A critical mineral in producing bullets. I can't imagine how he is going to push China into a war.

Trump: you want a war, you got it. But please may we buy antimony to make bullets to shoot you with?

  • Popular Post

Well it's very typical of Trump to politicize everything and we'll probably never know what the true facts are.

What we do know is that Trump's Covid Czar, Dr. Fauci, was a military scientist for about 40 years, and we do know that the US government invested heavily and the Wuhan lab, and Fauci had some involvement with a variety of different viral development programs. Some say the leak happened in the US. If so, would we ever find out those facts?

You can post it over and over but it won't make it true.

The currently most likely origin is zoonotic, according to scientific papers!

Instead of promoting a theory, why not promote facts?

Theories are simply opinions, and opinions are like a$$holes, everybody has one, and they can be changed to suit the circumstances.

Facts are what they are, and not subject to the political whims of the day.

However facts can also be inconvenient, according to whoever is in power at the time.

It might be true or not but IMHO since the first to contract the disease were Chinese from the Wuhan area, that is the location that I would circle first.  And we already know that the Chinese have come up with some really dangerous new diseases.  They like to publicize that like the Russians due with a new more powerful missile.   But, unless this latest Trump plan to de regulate everything for the current manufacturers, we will most likely have another Chernobyl anyway that might just wipe us all off the map for good.  Turn the world over to those things living in the deep deep ocean.

In the run up to the 2008 collapse in the market/banks was deregulation by the Bush administration - they were all warned but failed to heed that.  Then the biggest banks collapsed totally and millions lost everything, their houses, their savings, their jobs...oh yeah the same horror stories we see in the news today.  Again, not the party that I hate their policies, but the Republicans the party that I quit after Nixon - Independents haven't helped good or bad as I as a member have seen - guess it definitely is time for another political party, not owing s@@t to the superpacs for them to choose as a candidate.  Since I have been able to vote, including during my years as a civil servent with access to high level people, I have failed to find what I consider to be honest and working for the good of the citizens and the nation!  That is my opinion of course of politicians and from living around the world too, seems like most are from the same mold, no matter the country!

Not at all, some of the best theories are built upon facts and evidence. The problem is that there are differing facts on both options, hence why there was always 2 theories.

That said I'm all for it being the Chinese lab leak

Well no vaccine , but an mRNA shot.

  • Popular Post

Republican strategist Rick Wilson nailed it with his book “Everything Trump touches dies.” That includes truth, public trust—and, during COVID, quite possibly hundreds of thousands of American lives were needlessly lost.

Trump dismantled the pandemic response team, shelved the playbook, botched PCR testing—and now wants to rewrite history to dodge the consequences.

Trump’s pandemic strategy was political, not medical. He downplayed the virus, mocked the experts, pushed unproven cures, and turned public health into a culture war. The result? One of the worst death tolls in the developed world.

Biden had the power and the numbers to launch a full Congressional inquiry into Trump’s COVID response—as Trump is doing now in reverse—but he chose not to, saying he didn’t want to divide the country further than Trump already had. Trump’s hell-bent on doing the opposite.

Now Trump’s clinging to the lab leak narrative like a life raft—not because it’s proven, but because it helps him:

  • Deflect from his own failures,
  • Resurrect the debunked gain-of-function panic, and
  • Cast Fauci as the villain in his MAGA redemption arc.

Whether COVID came from a lab or a market is a legitimate scientific question—but politically, it’s relevant only to Trump, who needs it to whitewash his record and scapegoat Fauci.

If rewriting history is the price for burying the scale of his pandemic failure, Trump’s ready—pen in one hand, Fauci’s head in the other.

I was just highlighting the incoherence of your conspiracy theory. If the Chinese (or whoever) had planned and made the virus, they would have had a vaccine ready.

BTW  the mRNA vaccine originates from Germany.
