I worked in aviation in Saudi and Oman back in the 80's, worked a night shift as daytime we couldn't touch the aircraft or our tools..

You're correct. And two years ago was even worse, with 40 and 41 readings at my house in western Bangkok during April and May. So far, this really hasn't been all that bad. Maybe the prolonged cool weather from December through March is making people feel comparatively distressed.

Yes! It's been very hot the last several days up here near Phetabun. I play golf twice a week, and yesterday it was a very, very hot walk. Even the Thai women caddies kept remarking on how hot it was! (Wanted higher tips? 😄 )

Rubbish ! Heat Index ! Temperatures have always been measured in Celsius and Fahrenheit, nothing else ! Climate activist invented "heat index" because they are higher and people get more worried ! Hey, it's April and the hottest month during the year ! Stop this panic !

Sorry but two years ago wasn't worse. Last year was relentless. Everyday scorching hot. I didn't see any articles about it being the hottest April on record but my guess is it was.

After the exceptionally mild Songkran days (can't remember such lows) we are now back to "normal". 40 = 104 in the shack.

For the dogs I have a "mobile AC" (evaporater)

Daughter got mad when I let them in the house.

We had a terrible heat wave in May 2024.

Unbearable, every day 40+ and mornings with 30.

A mate comes to Pattaya next month.

I asked him if he is mad!

Inside: 21.0C

Outside: 47.6C (The outside sensor was positioned in the shade).

I've seen temps reported as high as 54C for Kuwait.

Yes. I worked in Saudi as an aircraft engineer. Outside temperature would get up to over 50C.

 

After flight inspection was crazy! The aircraft would build up heat when flying, through friction. It was impossible to stand still to inspect suspected leaks or loose panels. I did it once, and my shoe soles melted!

 

110% humidity also! Too hot for it to form into rain. 

 

Had to change overalls 6 times a day!

 

Here in Pattaya, the car OAT shows 39C.

yeah last year under the influence of El Nino but this year La Nina though reports that La nina is slowly fading and the "expertss" don't know what that means for the upcoming rainy season.  But, this Hot season has seen a large increase in Summer Storms which replensished low dam waters already, downed a lot of BIG trees and damaged a lot of the flimsy chonabot houses.

Sorry folks, I got a laugh.  I lived in Phoenix Arizona from 2006 to 2014. I was working on the Light Rail project at that time. You can't build a Rail system without going outside, obviously.  So see the link here. It's a chart that shows temps over 100F/37.7C with number of days over. Many of those years were over 100 for 100 consecutive days.  I understand how some feel, being from cold places, but in my 70 years I've onlying lived where it snowed and stuck to the ground  for about 3 years. So, I'm fine. Stay cool. It helps if you can "identify " as a cool person such, as myself.  😎

Quite.  I was stationed at Sharjah in 1970 for a year, rained once for about 5 minutes in August.

Used to do compass swings at 6am before the heat got too high.

Which itself can get too warm to cool off in , especially with the lower volume of water they hold compared to say the  25 metre hotel pool I use.

My first rotation out of Oman I had to leave for the airport at 01:00 in the morning for my flight. Around midnight I checked the outside temperature and it was 40C

40+ is not unusual in summer in the Middle East as you well know. Then you go to the other extremes in other countries. When I was in Kazakhstan, early morning the temperature was around -35C. That is just as hard to accept for sure.
