A 25-year-old Belgian tourist sparked outrage and online debate after a series of chaotic incidents in a Pattaya convenience store went viral on social media. The man, identified only as Mr Mustafa, was captured on video destroying merchandise and behaving erratically before being detained by police. He later agreed to pay 35,000 baht in compensation, and the matter was resolved without further legal action.

The initial incident took place around 04:00 on 27 April at a store on Soi Naklua 16. In footage posted by TikTok and Instagram user @Mrbochkarev, Mr Mustafa is seen pouring a bottle of soft drink over his head at the checkout counter. Moments later, he proceeds to a wine display and violently sweeps more than ten bottles off the shelf, shattering them across the floor. Store staff were left in shock and contacted police and management.

Officers from Banglamung Police Station responded and detained Mr Mustafa, who was intoxicated at the time. He was taken into custody to sober up and questioned about the damages. The viral video, narrated in Russian and captioned “Visa-free, crazy Pattaya tourist,” drew widespread criticism online and reignited concerns over tourist behaviour in the city.

Staff confirmed the events but said that the chain’s head office declined to comment or disclose the store’s name. The damage was confirmed to be extensive, primarily involving broken wine bottles and associated cleanup costs.

Further police intervention occurred at 01.05 on 30 April when officers were called to another convenience store on Soi South Pattaya 17. Mr Mustafa was spotted attempting to repeat his earlier behaviour. Alert officers recognised him from the viral clips and intervened swiftly, preventing further damage or harm. According to staff, the tourist had tried to access restricted areas behind the counter and threatened employees with a liquor bottle, even blocking customers from leaving the store.

Thanks to the prompt police response, the situation was contained without injury. Mr Mustafa was once again taken into custody and later transferred to a hospital for observation and care.

Well this guy was likely visa exempt but what you suggest would have some benefit. A one strike and you are out approach would have prevented the repeat occurrences. In the cells to sober up, and start the deportation proceedings!

Aggressor's name: Mustafa.

Sounds like Muslim.

Perfect example of their lack of alcohol immunity.

Hypocritic Islamic precept: Liquor Ban(at home).

It is meant to be broken abroad at someone else's expense.

So do you have a clear specific definition of 'look shady'?

What about if their tattoos are all hidden under a shirt / blouse on arrival?

Just a simple assumption/profiling; knowing it is the common name in Islamic nations.

My handling name is just for convenience.

Appalling behaviour. Mustafa ? Hardly a typical European/Belgian name. He looks like somebody from the middle east. Anyway, locate him, fine him and jail him, and then deport him with a permanent ban ensuring he never returns to Thailand again.
