What have you achieved this week?

Featured Replies

I went and bought a 2.2 metre satellite dish...

Had to screw all the bits together, took an hour but quite easy.  Mounted on my garden wall.  Connected up the feedhorn and cables to my laptop.  Then tried to find the satellite signal by slowly moving the dish left/right and up/down in the general direction of the satellite. Couldn't find the damn thing and it was too hot to continue...

Came back at 6am the next day to try again.  No sun, but no signal...

Came back this morning at 6am and finally found the satellite signal.  Adjusted everything and locked all the nuts and bolts so that it can't move in the wind.

Why such a big satellite dish for satellite TV?  It's not to receive satellite TV, but to receive images from a South Korean weather satellite 35,000 km out in space🙂  (Yes I know that I can just look up at the sky to see what the weather is like, but I like to make things more challenging!  That round feedhorn in the middle is actually a metal ice bucket that I bought in Laos ...)

Got my 12 month extension done, just paid up my Ultra Mobile account in the US, had french toast for breakfast. Yesterday cut grass and hedge. Walked the beach and had beers on the beach. Painted a bathroom. Take kid to school and pick her up. Watched Mobland with Tom Hardy. Just about time for some morning beers. Cheers

The wards are full of oncology patients who used to smoke marijuana

Eeh! ??? You are telling people that they will probably get cancer in the next few years. After that, they should not take it the wrong way???? Really???

you need a special lens for insects? never tried photographing an insect.

A zoom lens, as most won't stay put when approached.  I have 18-105mm & 200-600mm, on a crop body, so 1.5X that.  Not much I can't get a snap of.  I've gotten lucky with the phone camera also, if there and that's all I have.

My usual 'go to' (200-600mm), unless I need a wider angle.

I quit smoking cannabis after 30 years of extremely heavy daily use.

And next week ?

Quitting smoking anything needs to me measured over years, not a week.  :coffee1:

But you do need to start at some point. good luck.

Cannabis only temporarily affects your lungs. Unlike cigs which kill the bronchi. They do recover after smoking cannabis. Add to it the anti carcinogenic properties of thc.

Sounds like you should get on the cannabis again

TODAY:

Decanted 10 litres of Sauvignon Blanc into a new demi-john, ready next month or so.

Put the new woofer in my Paradigm Studio 20s, came from USA via DHL so had to pay Bht 400 duty. What a sound!

Had my pedicure in town. She only asked for Bht 100, but gave her 200!

Bangkok Bank changed the old address in my banking app.

Yep, cut my lawn so 7000 steps yesterday.

Changed strings on my Variax, installed Cakewalk and had a blast on it.

Baked a loaf in my breadmaker, cookies and burger buns in my oven.

Had a few Tappers later.

Now, what about tomorrow?

Like when I quit smoking cigs 9 years ago.

Or when I quit drinking 19 years ago.

Growing one week older... 😉

I received a flu vaccination.

I have met all my targets: exercised (biking and walking) seven days in the week as I did last week.

Nearly everything I set out to achieve, I am successful; of course quite a few things are easy and routine

It's a matter of perspective!

Nonsense. The wards are full of oncology patients who used to smoke cigarettes.

Along with 2-3 pack a day smokers who died at very old age with no 'smoking' related issues.

I repeat, the wards are full of oncology patients who used to smoke cigarettes.

Managed to mow all of the lawns in 85 minute respite from the rain. Wife was keen since she has homestay guests from today for five days. Getting too much at my age.

Close to Pua in northern Nan province.

A nonsense question. Of course all people suffering from cancer, from whatever cause, will likely finish up in hospital unless they choose otherwise.

Well in reality how long do you think you have ...less than 10 years say

You've said this a few times, actually somehow foreseeing others demise. Do you not realize no one knows when their time is up, including you? People die at all ages, and seeing you spend more time in doctor's offices than many other places, you shouldn't be talking about others. You could be wasted by a rogue monkey in Thailand one day.

No more of a nonsense than you stating that oncology wards are "full of those who used to smoke"

Many with cancer have never smoked and I would suggest that  non smokers outnumber the smokers in the oncology wards

Rough week.

Surgery and recovering from surgery.

Fever was getting high, but went away next day.

Stomach in agonizing pain for 3 days due to anti-biotics prescribed. Gut microbiome must be all destroyed now. Goddarn anti-biotics.

Still going through some of that for the H Pylori treatment 7 months ago. . Yogurt, collagen, kimchi, probiotics along with basically a healthy diet. Good luck!

Yeah the wife hosts quite a few big bike riders. Favourite roads seem to be 1256, 1081, 1148, 1169, 1091, 1333 and 1097. Even the far northern portion of 101 gets some folks excited. There are also some good short rides up into some less visited mountain villages.

Fact remains, smoking is still the leading cause of cancer, or other tobacco use. My dad smoked 3 packs a day for probably 60+ years and they found a mass in his chest after he hit his head from a fall. That was his last week at 79. Some smoke and are lucky. Most who do pay in some way.
