Consequences can be walking away and her losing her paycheck. You stay with one of them they might make you do something you don't want to, and you'll get the blame, especially here as it favors the woman in court, if not in general.

The Yank could have just stepped between them to separate them, he looks a lot younger and fitter than the Brit'. But then, at 3.30 in the morning probably not too many clear heads involved. Don't know what happened to instigate things, but the woman certainly wasn't an unwilling participant. Probably not the wisest idea to be drinking in the bar where your ex' is working, the Brit' should have been elsewhere.

It looks like she was the one that started the argument, and he was retaliating - he was sitting down, she was standing up waving her finger in front of his face, and even grabbed him by the the throat before he retaliated - she gave as good as she got IMHO, even throwing a drink/glass in his face before the American intervened.

Video starts ...and we have no idea what went on before the video began. She has her finger in his face. Words were exchanged. She grabs him by the chin ( not the throat...look and you can see her 4 fingers are on the side of his face). They have some hand-checking, and then he throws a pretty good punch to her face.  She responds with a glass of some liquid ...I cannot tell if it connected or if just the liquid reached his face, but he punches her again in the face. He throws one last punch to her face, and she turns her back and begins to scurry away. The man makes a move to follow her. Before he can take a full step, he is yanked back and tossed to the ground. There was nothing thuggish about it, except a grown man old enough to be her father, hitting her in the face with his fist 3 times....THAT'S thuggish. The young man essentially just grabbed the guy as he was going after her for apparently another go at her face, when his progress was redirected to the soi outside the bar. Sadly there was a 12 inch drop off there, which exacerbated the injurious effects of his landing. The man yanking the old codger away from the girl ( and he was going after her until he was interrupted) made no further attempt to do anything. He stood there looking at the feeble old man, who was real tough hitting a woman half his size 10 seconds before, now moaning with  a broken arm, and a bleeding face. Sometimes punching a woman in the face in public canresult in  health issues. He definitely threw the 1st punch, repeated a punch, and punched her face again. THEN was going after her to do more face-punching, I presume. I do wonder wtf others are looking at.

The Brit landing like he did wasn't intentional as we can see. he just pulled him away and threw him to the ground.
