Trump: The Big Beautiful Failure

I don't know about that.

But he is making friends with the leaders of the one of the most important countries in the world ie Russia.

No one on here acknowledges that it's a good thing. That alliance could be very beneficial.

People are fixated on "Putin is a dictator". Russia has been attacked by the west for decades for geopolitical purposes and Putin is doing what any leader would do ie defend his country.

Man the anti-Russia propaganda we were brainwashed with is mind-blowing, complete with all the bad guys in James Bond films being Russians. I was terrified of Russians as a kid. But not anymore.

From Russia with love ... but with Trump it's not a play on words.

Keeping communications open with RU, or any country is always a good thing  👍

Trump has made a mistake on this one regarding Putler. He has listened to, and had it stroked, his ego and desire for legacy, instead of what is right for Europe/Ukraine. Trump has done many things that are okay because that's what he said he would do... so he has followed through on many topics... but not Ukraine.

Trump wants a Nobel Peace price as a legacy on his CV etc. but has failed to realise he is playing the same role as Neville Chamberlin... and will come back from Moscow in the next meeting waving a piece of paper saying "peace in our time" etc., then too look silly.

Trouble is, at the end of Trump's term, or the start of the next president's term, Putin will make his move (assuming he is still alive) and go for it after the next 3-4 years of re-arming.

History will judge this time of appeasement very harshy... just because Trump made a bad call on this because he admires dictators and that is no different from the CEO business top-down management. We'll all see the truth soon.

No, keeping communications open with any country is not always a good thing, though it is often beneficial in diplomacy to prevent escalation, negotiate ceasefires, deliver humanitarian aid, or exert pressure for change, even when atrocities are involved. The key is context: blanket isolation can hinder crisis resolution, while unchecked engagement might legitimize abuses or enable them.

In cases of war crimes, genocide, or similar atrocities (e.g., under the Responsibility to Protect doctrine, where states and the international community must act to halt such violations), full diplomatic isolation is sometimes warranted to avoid aiding the regime or signaling acceptance. However, cutting all ties can limit options for monitoring abuses, protecting civilians, or brokering peace, as seen in selective U.S. engagement with authoritarian regimes despite human rights concerns. Critics argue it risks reputational damage or hypocrisy if the engaging country overlooks violations for strategic gains.

Appropriate communications, if any, should be limited and targeted: backchannel talks for humanitarian access or atrocity prevention; "naming and shaming" to impose reputational costs; or multilateral efforts through bodies like the UN to enforce accountability, rather than normalizing relations via trade or alliances. In extreme cases, like ongoing genocide accusations, the obligation is to avoid complicity, potentially suspending ties until abuses cease.

So all countries should cut off China, for its genocide against the Uighers.

What tax increase???

I guess you dont know that if the bill didn't get passed the middle class would've gotten hit with a big tax increase, so we didn't get a tax cut (it extended the tax cut from 2017), but it kept us from getting the  big tax increase.

Also now no Tax on overtime (not all overtime some of it)  No tax on tips (amount limit) and then personal deductions have been increased.

I'm happy my taxes aren't going up!!!!

The reason America can't sell those ginormous SUV's in Europe is they suck fuel like a fire hose sucks water. Gas is expensive there.

The other reasons are many European roads are narrow, and Europeans like vehicles designed to turn through corners.

he's not doing so good  on the polls and many maga cronies are turn their back on him, he knows he will lose the mid terms and then it all goes down hill and impeachment...

The poll ultimately found that Trump had a 38% approval rating among all Americans, which is down from the 47% approval rating in January.

Don't fool yourself.  Tariffs are a tax paid by the importer and passed on to the consumer in one way or another.  And tariffs are not just imposed on fished goods, but also on raw materials.

If we put aside all the media noise and negative commentary about Trump, looking past all of his own grift, corruption, criminality, sex related crimes, and even the fact that he's an insurrectionist and a traitor, and focus only on his recent campaign promises and achievements, I would say that the only positive action he has taken in his seven months in office so far is bombing Iran. That took a great deal of courage and leadership. Whether it actually achieved anything in slowing down Iran's nuclear program remains to be seen, but the act itself showed decisiveness and should be acknowledged.

Aside from that, he has failed to end the war in Ukraine or in Gaza, failed to lower grocery costs for Americans, failed to release the Epstein files, failed to eliminate taxes on Social Security benefits, failed to reduce taxes for the poor, failed to create any type of national healthcare program, failed to cut two trillion dollars in federal spending and balance the budget, and the list goes on. He has also failed to bring back jobs to America and has, in fact, contributed to a slowdown in new job creation, which has just resulted in a sudden rise in unemployment. He has essentially failed to deliver on all of his major campaign promises. In reality, seven months is enough time for him to have achieved at least a handful of these priorities, yet he has not.

There are also broader failures worth noting. He has failed to secure meaningful immigration reform, failed to restore trust in American institutions, failed to unite a deeply divided nation, failed to take meaningful action on affordable housing, and failed to present a clear and consistent foreign policy strategy beyond reactive measures. Not to mention all the added chaos and confusion caused by his tariff madness.

At this point, there is little more that can be said. Love him or hate him, call it a hoax, a witch hunt, some sort of anti-Trump syndrome, or whatever buzzword you like, the reality is that he has become a lame duck president. In fact, he has done more harm to Americans, their quality of life, their public welfare programs, their freedom of speech, and their civil liberties than any president in modern American history. In a word, he's basically achieved absolutely nothing to make America great again.

University of Michigan economics and public policy professor Justin Wolfers wrote on X that after perusing the EU-US trade  deal, he discovered Trump's promise of $600 billion being sent to the U.S. from the E.U. isn't on the list.

The deal mapped out on July 28 promised, "The EU will purchase $750 billion in U.S. energy and make new investments of $600 billion in the United States, all by 2028."

The Aug. 21 deal changes the language significantly, shifting from a commitment to phrases like "make new investments" and "invest," and now saying things like they're "expected to invest."

'Resignations seem likely': Economist predicts investigation of Trump's $600 billion fail

"In this context, European companies are expected to invest an additional $600 billion across strategic sectors in the United States through 2028," the document says, removing the firm commitment. "

I'm pleased you posted this because one of the things that I have been particularly perturbed about is his grift, corruption and criminality (not to mention his sex-related crimes with young girls) because it would appear that not only he, but many of his family are on the take and corruption exercises that he has become involved in.

This article is a very good read for those who take the time to do so.......

The Trump administration has blurred the lines between family, business and Government, with the President conducting diplomacy with the same foreign governments that are negotiating cryptocurrency and real estate deals with his family.........

We essentially have two camps - those with working brains (aka "the choir") and those with nonfuntional brains (aka "MAGAnistas").

You won't receive anything other than thumbs down from the nonfunctional brains camp because they have no reasonable arguments. Your points are backed by facts, Kryptonite to the MAGAnistas. For the rest of us, you're preaching to the choir.

I'll get the perfunctory thumbs down for this post from the MAGAnistas without so much as a reply calling me anything from their boring bag of standard name-calling (leftie, woke, blah blah blah). Because, again, they have no arguments they can back up with facts though I wish they'd try.

Question: why are you eying on received emojis? Do you need the clapping hands (thumb up) or the "Boo" (thumb down) shouts ?Accept that AN members are overwhelmingly not "brain-active" but follow the stereotypes of common propaganda, No matter from the right or left.
