Road Rage (Foreigner Style)

Featured Replies

He was in the middle of completing his turn when you approached. A sensible driver would slow down a bit allowing him to complete the turn. Instead you approached without considering his action. This suggests a degree of road rage on your part. You’ve been in Thailand long enough to know that. Keep your behavior (constantly beeping at anyone whom you think are in the wrong) and one day the driver will either shoot you or beat you up. As they say here “up to you”. 😂😂😂

Yeah, I agree. The man is an idiot and hopefully he'll get a slap one day, but it's hardly a matter for the police. Forget it, move on. And generally don't beep at people, it can be very dangerou

No shidt, and the frik’n horn is used for warning drivers to snap out of it.

Most people these days think beeping means "get out of my f***ing way!!!"  and react accordingly.

Speaking for yourself are you? Or just lacking observation? Most folks sound the horn to warn others both here and in the US, though occasionally an idiot will lay on it due to the lack of self control and making a scene, probably it’s those incidents that have left a mark on the idiot drivers thinking that anyone sounding the horn is aggressive, which of course is being well displayed on this thread.

Ok, bigot then. Better?

I said that England is full of Brits, you posted a picture of Muslims and said "count them", implying England is not full of Brits but Muslims (who are mostly British by the way). Bigotted if I am being kind, racist and disgusting if I am being honest.

And the picture you chose to show that England isn't full of Brits is actually a picture of 130 mostly British Muslim Imams denouncing the Manchester and London attackers and refusing to give them Muslim burials and denouncing them, and calling on all Imams to do the same, even though it goes against their religion. Open hearted, progressive, and intelligent - everything you are not, Gottfrid Pickering.

Yeah, that´s much better. Thank you for your kindness. Now just wait for the next bombing.

What I should do is avoid idiots like you and some of the others ignorant people on here. I'm done with you morons at this point, coming to this <deleted>hole country full of the worlds violent and ignorant misfits was a huge mistake.

Finally. The core of this self-inflicted drama and the OP's ongoing daily struggles, trapped in a country he despises surrounded by people he despises even more.

Cut me off, then after beeping at him, he does it again. Then proceeds to block me and my daughter from going home after picking her up from school, then gets out and threatens us, and takes a few punches at my window, this one might get reported to my local police station tomorrow, still deciding.

Don't beep the Horn, Let the Idiots just go .He didn't touch your car so forget it There are many like that . If those Idiots don't Hit the car Leave it be, much safer if you don't the Next one may do some Damage to your car or You.

That's not road rage.Real road rage is when they force you off the road , threaten you with a macheti , pull you out of the car , steal your wallet and phone , steal your kids school bag with his lunch money and phone and then drive off in your car...Now that's Real rage that's how they do it in Australia.

They should drive in Manila where everybody honks their horns 24/7.

This looks just like America.

I am happy not to drive in Thailand.

I will NEVER return to America, and I will not miss the road-ragers, and the RAGE....in America.

Just the viewing of this video is really so very depressing.

I do not need this.

I do NOT need to return to America.

Note: Also, what is that Black Thing he has stuck in his right ear?  What a loser.....

Very depressing, indeed....!!!!!

Having driven on the Pacific Coast Highway between San Francisco and Mexico, and all over Los Angeles, also Las Vegas, I have found the standard of American driving very high indeed, far higher than in the UK.

Unfortunately, in Thailand beeping can frequently be interpreted as aggressive and rude.

I still remember my first driving instructor more than 60 years ago. He said if you need to use the car horn, it's your own bad driving that has created the necessity.

Many times a have had motorcyclist's riding towards me on the wrong side of the road when I am riding my own motorbike. I do not just give them a beep, I give them a loud blast.

So it is my bad riding that costs these morons to ride on the wrong side of the road is it??

Seems your first driving instructor wasn't very good.

It was obvious the way this thread was going, as soon as it was clear that the OP had no capacity to understand that there was a different perspective other than his own. Then when the other protagonist of exactly the same ilk joined his team, his fate was sealed.

Once fred hits your team, you know you are on the wrong side...

No offence meant, but if you look at the people supporting the OP, they all have issues with anger.

Testosterone poisoning. I recognize as an American ... Department of War ... yikes. If a foreigner, lean toward reporting. Clear car plate and video ID. Up to you if you want to let him go at Polic Station with an apology and accompanying Wai. Hmm, suggest to Police he make a donation in your name as an apology. Might help you gain "face".

No. It's your anger management problem which causes you to blast them with your horn, whereas I accept it as part and parcel of driving in Thailand.

What does your petulant attitude achieve, apart from potentially leading to a confrontation where you may come off worse?

I have been driving for over 60 years. In Australia, I have never had a front-end collision. I have been rear-ended twice by drunks, and T-boned from the left by people who thought a give way sign was for decoration. Not much I could do in all four accidents.

In 15 years of driving in Thailand, I have had one scooter accident, when a Thai woman texting on her mobile did a right turn from the left, and drove straight at me. Not much I could do in that situation either. Zero accidents in a car.

I'd say my driving instructor did a pretty good job with me. The icing on the cake was having to pass a defensive driving course, before I got the keys to my first company car.

Given your attitude, you would probably benefit from one of those courses yourself.

Two simple messages:-

1. Don't bleep. Doing so can lead to

    trouble in any country.

2. Stay calm, and move on. No need

     to prolong the confrontation.

I will repost the video without mentioning any names, as it still can be useful when dealing with certain types, in a road rage situation or life in general.

I have had 20 years experience of driving and riding a motorbike in Thailand, and no accidents at all. Driven PSV and HGV in the UK again with no accidents.

It is the easiest thing in the world for motorcyclists to avoid riding on the wrong side of the road, and I will keep blasting anyone who deliberately puts my life and wellbeing at risk.

I have not and will not approach any bad drivers in Thailand for obvious reasons, unlike when I  was much younger in the UK.

Terrible behaviour but I dont understand why you think he cut you up. He was legally turning left a long way from you and stopped to let people cross. Perfectly normal.

I accept scooters going  on the wrong side of the road in Thailand is normal behavior. Apparently the etiquette is to give them the inside lane.

Your choice to use a blast. To me, it's a futile gesture which achieves nothing.

I am guessing driving a PSV or HGV involves some defensive driving anyway, due to the mass involved.

OP seems upset that someone is in his space.  I've been there and momentarily, in a bad moment, lost my temper.  The other driver was avoiding  padestrians and you should have given him more space reardless if he was in the wrong. If you were both walking and he swerved into your path what would you have done?  Strange how people get when they are in the safe confines of a car.

You both are fools albeit  the driver of the red car was the bigger fool.

I agree with you about motorcycles riding on the hard shoulder if that's what you mean, in the opposite direction when they are going to turn off, but the biggest problem is when there is traffic on the first lane, the MC's will not slow down and can easily force you into the path of oncoming traffic, but I have my way of dealing with them, and believe me it is very effective.

My method of dealing with the problem ( and I agree it is a problem ) is to use my rear vision mirror well in advance. If there is oncoming traffic which would endanger me, I come to a complete stop.

They then have the choice of getting around me, or crashing into me. So far, everyone has chosen option 1.

IMO it is safer, one variable instead of two.

I force them to stop by letting them think I could hit them. I force them to stop or slow right down, and I mean slow in plenty of time.

One morning when I was riding on the hard shoulder and there was plenty of traffic coming up my right hand side, a MC came riding down towards me, rather than take my chance with the traffic coming at my right hand side I came to a complete stop, leaving plenty of room for him to pass on my left hand side, the guy on the MC still did not slow down and when he did, he skidded on the dry gravel and came right of his bike, remember I was stopped dead. I really enjoyed that.
