I'd need to see some photos of what you get.  But if it's a big buffet with proper western breakfast fare, then I don't think 500 baht is a bad price at all.

  • Firstly I would not chose such an expensive hotel to eat at, I would only pay 500b if I had a gun to my head...

The point is not if you pay more back in the west.

The point is that is such a price worth the deal, considering the low wages, cost of products and other expenses in Thailand ?

For similar, you will get it half price in a non touristy area. Sorry, but most of these prices are inflates only due to the foreigners who blindly pay and wrongfully compare with prices back home. You need to compare prices within Thailand instead.

If you're a savvy shopper, like this Gmap reviewer of the Rad Blu BKK ... 👍

he Dutch are big on roast beef for breakfast, they do it very well.

And Dutch pancakes (panekoeks). Really good.

Absolutely, heck 3 fresh coffees can run close to 1/2 that.

It is actually a bargain if you compare it to the Marriott or some of the higher end hotels.

The worse deals I think are some of these cheap breakfast with 2 eggs, one piece of white bread, two hotdogs and their instant garbage coffee.  All the hung over fatsos in their stinky tank tops thinking how wonderful it is.

Ours as well, went in covid for about 2.500 baht a night, they make the coffee individually for you, everything is made in house such as yoghurts and bread, they even had bread and butter pudding, real five star. Did the Chatrium riverside as well, also good breakfasts.

We useally stay at Chatrium now, and their breakfast is good, but if you not been to Goji Bar and Restaurant yet, absolutely worth it, and their walk in Lunch and dinner buffet to.

I'd agree the Marriot is very good, just that its so big and very busy  with people everywhere. More of a food factory as opposed to a restaurant.

It was not as busy before, but now I agree and better to go days that commonly is not that busy.

We also enjoy the Australian No Idea instead when in Sukhumvit now if high season and busy days

Once you have visited D'Maris in Vietnam, nothing else will do.  None of those silly time limits and drinks such as coconut water and sugar cane juice are included.

I was thinking the same.  If it's a buffet style where you only get one style of a dish for 500 THB out of multiple selections of foods? I'd give it a pass and I'll find a real breakfast buffet instead.  The breakfast buffet that the CM Expat club had at the Riverside pre-Covid was good. No idea where that club and breakfast has gone since everyone except a handful of us didn't roll up in a ball of terror and stopped being sociable in order to "Stop The Spread."

Next breakfast at Duke’s Raumchok. Under 500 baht for the Buffett and save 100 baht if signed up as a Duke’s Insider (look up their website).

I mostly agree with you but I guess you have to take into consideration the location of the restaurant . If its in a prominent popular tourist area the rent will  be high which will be reflected in their prices . At the other end a so called English breakfast at 99 baht is mostly rubbish , serving reconstituted so called " ham " , chipolata sausage . Absolute garbage . I have been surprised on this forum recently on the same subject where an English breakfast could be had for 99 baht in Pattaya . The profits must be next to zero . In my wife's restaurant up in Issan she sells English breakfast at 200 baht and consists of 2 toast ( home made thick bread & not sweet ) , 2 pork fat boy sausages , 3 bacon rashers ( either back , streaky or smoked medallions . Quality baked beans, 2 fresh eggs ( fried or poached )  , black pudding , freshly picked tomatoes and mushrooms . She has many 5 star reviews for her breakfasts . However when you factor in the cost of staff and air-con her profit is meager . Hence my subsidizing .

Its 500baht is not exactly next months rent!

But if you looking for a treat once a month it's a great BF.

So instead of a gun at your head you rather eat breakfast with rats at your feet harhar.  And get that for 99baht....   We all make our own choices, fair enough.

Looks good value.

pay a lot more for a lot less back in the UK

Cheaper than Denny's in the US that also carries a tip and taxes.

Spent a few weeks at this hotel just after the Plandemic - too many Indian and Chinese tour groups made the buffet breakfast a noisy 'foodfight'

Best breakfast is in holiday inn express..... just kidding....Hilton (any) and Crowne Plaza

I always considered JW Marriott breakfast to be one of the best, Sukhumvit Soi 2, I dont know how much but I think it was more than 500 baht,

Casa pascal in Pattaya is well worth it at half the price.

I used to go  there regularly but after covid the price went up, think it was 350 last time I went.

As far as I am aware they stopped the daily and then brought it back for Sundays, but not sure  what price.

I also used to go to the Holiday Inn, that is very good and 499. We had a card to get the breakfast at 299   but this year they pushed the price on the card up to 2000 baht and being occasional visitors gave it a miss.

LK Empress is probably about best value in Pattaya at the moment,  350 if I remember right.

Dirt cheap compared to 4000 baht crab omelette...

We all know you can get food from low prices, and if staying in hotels it's often included.

But would you pay this for this kind of breakfast?

At 2780 calories that's higher than my entire days consumption.

That is crazy! Thats not a breakfast, its more like an overdose of food to make sure you get FAT!!! 🤮

Sheraton Riverview has a killer breakfast buffet, been a while but was not cheap for non guests ...

I think the Intercontinental Bangkok was the best I've had in Thailand.

Nothing wrong with the Pattaya Hilton.

Sheraton Sukhumvit is great as well. So convenient with the Skywalk from the Asoke BTS/MRT station.

I didn’t have the same experience there with the Indians and Chinese, so far so good, but there have been a few times it was way to busy, and not that pleasant yes. Still the food was at the higher end. And we always get served by the same lady who remembers us who have worked there since before covid, who makes the whole experience much better of course.
