OK, it Brit bashing time!🤣

Like the local labor laws restricting certain jobs to Thais only, the Brits seem to consider Brit Bashing to be an avocation reserved for Brits only.  They certainly seem to get a lot of practice on UK street corners every Saturday night.

39 baht beers mixed with kush,.is it any wonder

Sharing the bill with a friend and sharing the bill with a stranger are not the same in my book.

Another red letter day
So the pound has dropped
And the children are creating
The other half run away
Taking all the cash
And leaving you with the lumber

Got a pain in the chest
Doctors on strike
What you need is a rest
It's not easy, love
But you've got friends you can trust

Friends will be friends
When you're in need of love
They give care and attention
Friends will be friends
When you're through with life
And all hope is lost
Hold out your hand
'Cause friends will be friends
Right till the end

Now it's a beautiful day
The postman delivered
A letter from your lover
Only a phone call away
You tried to track him down
But somebody stole his number

As a matter of fact
You're getting used to life
Without him in your way

It's so easy now
'Cause you got friends you can trust

Friends will be friends
When you're in need of love
They give you care and attention
Friends will be friends
When you're through with life
And all hope is lost
Hold out your hand
'Cause friends will be friends
Right till the end

It's so easy now
'Cause you got friends you can trust

Friends will be friends
When you're in need of love
They give you care and attention
Friends will be friends
When you're through with life
And all hope is lost
Hold out your hand
'Cause friends will be friends
Right till the end

Friends will be friends
When you're in need of love
They give you care and attention
Friends will be friends
When you're through with life
And all hope is lost
Hold out your hand
'Cause right to the end
Friends will be friends

Friends will be friends
Friends will be friends
Friends will be friends
Right till the end

Seems like he couldn't pay his share of the beers/drinks lead to the fifth.Anyway violence is not the answer.

Happened to me in Bangkok.I meet a guy from my country in the embassy. We agree to go and have some beers and drinks together. We agree to share the bill.He said he need to use the toilet and didn't return. The bill was about 3000 baht.Irritating, but i sat a couple of hours more and paid the bill that ended about 4500 baht.I never agree to share bills again with anybody. That said it happens sometimes that i don't have enough cash to pay but i know the manager so he just say i can pay the next day.And i allways do that.

Someone did a runner over a measly 3,000 baht?🤣

Another reason to stay away from Pattaya and Phuket.

These pics always get to me

The guys decked out on the floor obviously needing help, but a selfie is so much more important

Maybe bent down comforting him would have been more appropriate?

Also happened to me in Siem Reap. involving a fellow countryman. When it came to paying the bill, he returned from a local ATM saying it would not take his card. I paid the bill and later found out that he had no funds in his card account. Like norsurin - never again!

I've never shared a bill with another man in Thailand, let alone a stranger. Seems odd to me! (no offence)

Either take it in turns pay as you go, or have separate bins. Maybe I'm the odd one 😄

So, it happens sometimes that you don´t have enough cash to pay. You know it´s 2025, right? ATM´s, QR codes, Mobile Banking, Credit & Debit cards???

I would never ask the bar or restaurant to pay the day after. In reality they are laughing at people who does such things and see them as all from amateurs to poor suckers. I would never put myself in a risk of being looked upon like that.

For you, I guess there must some other reason then.

Doing 'rounds' is just a common thing in the UK, it gets less fair as the number of people increases and round dodging is more common later in the evening, a sudden need to go to the bathroom is the usual skip. For Thailand, well you don't want to be in a round with a 2 week millionaire who buys lots of LDs, and the only round should come from the bar owner or manager.

You need to decide on the exact amount, not just a shared bill. I had it happen with a neighbor.

We talked about throwing an outdoor soiree in the communal garden with alcohol and beer and inviting people and agreed to do it, but never agreed on how much would be spent. Nor did we agree on an open tab. We also did not agree on whose friends would be consuming and if we were equally responsible for just anyone who was there. He was also a heavy drinker which put me at somewhat of a disadvantage.

He bought hell of stuff at the store and also catering for food while I was away on a visa run. When I showed up to the party he wanted me to pay half, around 10k baht.

His idea of a party was 20k baht, my idea was more like 5k. His friends who showed up vastly outnumbered mine.

I paid what I thought was fair for me and the people I invited, but not what he wanted. The place was a mess the next morning, beer bottles everywhere, left over food sitting around, etc.

It ended our friendship. Be careful partying with rock stars. 🤣

Maybe, but how many times can you ring the bell to buy a round for everyone? Just once, maybe? Also, how does one survive on 100 baht a day for food?

Survive is the correct word. Pleasant it ain't. But doable. Certainly no more Big Macs.

Today I only had coffee and a basil shrimp rise meal from 7-11 and it's 4pm and I'm content. That's under 100 baht. More like 70 baht.

I would not want to do it every day or feel like I had to do it. You can do it and be Ok though. Could also get two sit down rice dishes at a local restaurant for 50 baht each. Free water or splurge for a perfectly fine drink at 20 baht. The place near me also has a pretty good fish & chips for 70 baht. He could eat one meal in the evening and just some peanuts and cheap snacks during the daytime without much difficulty. 😂

Can't go to Germany for football, might as well go to Jomtien.

I said tuition fee rather flippantly further up, but I can 'afford' to. Paid 'em once in Singapore many decades ago - never again 555

Two things I take from this. No where in the op does it say what you think it seems to say. It could have been any amount of money needed from the ATM for absolutely anything. Secondly who, besides you, shares bar bills with a guy they just met for the first time? Duh?

Au contraire.

It's like a free floor show.

Seems pretty obvious. How would you know what to order? The bloke goes for an expensive whisky, then you don't want a beer? You just keep one upping each other? 😂

It sounds more like the server did not ask if they wanted seperate bills (which they rarely do with a group) or they did not want to bother explaining it to them.

That sounds delicious, I’ve been missing Mama noodles since being away from Thailand. 70 baht for fish and chips? The cheapest I found in Chiang Mai was around 280, but I still prefer The Duke’s version lol.

Honestly, going without Big Macs is probably a good thing, lol.
