Exactly, not the 'lack of shopping venues and hotels' is the problem in Thailand, but the fact that international tourists get much better value for their buck in Vietnam, Japan, and other destination

  • There dreaming  again  vietnam is booming thailand has to do something  about the baht they  can dream about numbers but its just a dream

I wonder how many foreigners living here, with their Thai family, no longer visit tourist attractions or travel and visit, to stay a night or two? All because they get mightily shafted with their ridiculous TM30 "tourist challenge" - Visit outside of your province and on return, you have 24 hours to visit their den of hell immigration, to renew your TM30, and just to keep it interesting, a 1600 Baht "fee" for late reporting, I just can;t wait to head out.

I travel often the last 20 years in Thailand and have never worried about a TM30 update.  Never met another foreigner that did for short trips (under a couple weeks).  Do you really not travel without filing a new TM30?  Also, you do know you can do it online and it takes a few minutes but I don't bother.

As soon as I saw the figures I thought that TAT would be behind it somewhere. Sure enough- 2nd paragraph, there they are taking the spotlight off Galaxy Resorts! 🙂

Eventually, it was decided to make Thailand a TOURIST HUB! ☝️

Lets face it, it has nothing else going for it.

Love national parks, but never been to a Thailand one. Wanted to visit with someone (Thai) a small, relatively unknown temple in Samut Prakarn, but was quoted several-hundred-baht entry fee per person... Not going to Wat Phra Kaew anymore due to the high entry fee for foreigners. - I like to visit national parks, museums, temples, etc., but rarely do so in Thailand, but, instead, whenever I travel to other countries. (Another reason, besides the constant overcharging, is the trouble with the TM30; go somewhere, then get into trouble next time at the Immigration Office, being charged 800 baht, or more for "late report" - no, thank you!)

Does anybody actually bother doing that.

Steps Necessary to Achieve 60 Million Tourists by 2035

-Ban harassment and witch-hunting of foreigners online, with criminal penalties similar to defamation laws.

-Prohibit police raids in entertainment zones where foreigners are the majority, except in rare national security cases.

-Streamline visa policy:

         Eliminate the 90-day reporting requirement

Shrink immigration services by two-thirds in line with reduced responsibilities

Remove any incentive for foreigners to use corrupt intermediaries

-Simplify foreign bank account opening rules and strictly forbid closures except in clear cases of misuse.

-End double and triple pricing practices completely.

-Prison terms for the Thai drivers operating a vehicle against traffic, and tougher penalties for other forms of prohibited driving.

-End the flip-flop policy, at least in aspects directly affecting foreigners.

I think you will have overloaded there mental capacity with so many systems that need to be modernised and made practical. Especially the last one on your list, oh and also didnt you know that Thai's know better!!

That photo is terrible - hoards of people and boats in a small area….tone deaf marketing

Ahhhhhh , here we go again…..God loves a trier. When will this nonsense ever end .

"developing man-made attractions"

They can' even maintain their sidewalks.

Why not "dream" really big. Go for 50 million, heck even 75 million or a hundred. Whatever the number, they're all just dreams. There's so much unrest going on in the world right now, any dream is just that, a dream.

They are just trying to get a bigger piece of the pie - whoever they are as I have not come across the name before.

Looking at their website at the moment they have no slice of the pie.

Clayton mentioned integrated resorts with hotels, shopping, and venues as a transformative opportunity. These resorts, already successful in places like Japan and Singapore, could help Thailand claim a larger share of the projected US$267 billion global entertainment tourism market by 2030

And who exactly is going to stump-up the money?

Clayton advised caution regarding Thailand’s planned 300-baht tourism tax. He stressed the importance of transparency in fund allocation, suggesting that revenue should enhance tourist experiences through better infrastructure and insurance.

The pot will be milked for other things.

perhaps by keeping the Baht high the can attract the quality tourist they prefer?

They don't have anything for the high quality tourist to enjoy, once outside of the 5-star hotels things take a dive very quickly

when has TAT ever hit its target

Overseas jollies ?

Why not go all out and put 100M in there, or one trillion? I mean, donkeys are justifying their position in that Mickey Mow organisation, but just give it a F rest already and/or perhaps try to APPRECIATE the tourists you have now!

It's like someone saying I plan to win $100 million on the Powerball by 2035, and I'm currently considering what type of yacht and what type of sports car I'll buy after this win.

Should the emphasis not be on TOTAL REVENUE rather than TOTAL NUMBER OF VISITORS.

If you are letting in trash tourists, criminals, and low spend tourists from developing nations then it's pointless bragging about the number of tourists visiting.

QUALITY OVER QUANTIY - but time and time again those in charge simply look at the total number. Thailand simply does not have the infrustructure to cope with the current numbers, never mind doubling it. All that happens is quality tourists go elsewhere, and you are left with trash.
