What do you wear on your feet in Thailand? Or is it nothing at all?

I actually bought them to walk on the beach, and now got now one pair for gym and walking, but use original naked barefoot on the beach. Still wear flip flops and other shoes depending on place and time. Normal streetwear for travelling, hotels and emigration just as example

Bought Tractive gps for my cat, priceless to keep track of where he is and get him inside the night.

Yes....have looked at those....I really should invest.

He has wandered further than he should have on three occasions and GPS would have nailed him

What, like the 30 Baht kind from the night market? Do you wear socks at least to hide your minging toes?

In Thailand it's only the tourists who wear flip flops all over trying to get the cool cofunder start-up tropical look !!🤣

Thos with a minimum of common sense will wear a good pair of sneakers. Far better for walking of course but also mainly to prevent against any of those slithering nasty creatures that can bite. Unwanted enounters with snakes or scorpions are very common in Thailand.

Tractive works very well in Thailand and you can set different levels of fences and live surveillance.

Good lord that's rather judgemental.

I do own a suit, and scrub up rather well when necessary.

But even at work and in the office I wear shorts and sandals; I'm employed for my mental skills not my sartorial elegance.

Thats fine, I would note I see loads of Thai businessmen and government officials in flip flops and shorts. You are entitled to your opinion.

I confine my extreme beach look for the house. My mode of dress has worked for me for almost 40 years, no need to change now.

I'm a geologist, not a government suit or businessmen.

I always wear amphibious shoes everywhere...the closest I have found to being barefoot. I have two pairs: one for gardening and another for going out. I have size 14 feet so my options are pretty limited.

Neither do the owners of dogs which attack and kill babies, children, older people, anyone.

I assume you wear your flip flops when attending a meeting with government guys?

I don't have meetings with government guys. I confess I do wear safety boots on the mine together with long pants, but not in the office. I don't wear flip flops outside the house, stout sandals only.

I never move around barefoot in the garden or outside. Always a good strong pair of boots or sneakers. I once nearly got bitten by a snake in Hua Hin and thanks to my good shoes am still hear to speak about it. I told the manager in the rental residence about the snake but they did not seem to give a sh...

I wear a jock strap and gaiters, the gaiters are fur lined as it feels like ball to ball carpet.

That should read that the jock strap is fur lined.

The worst are those centipedes. I saw the result of a bite on flip flop toes, ouch.

Docksiders, no socks. Long pants are only for formal occasions but they might have elephants on them.

When I’m going out and about, I always wear my high heels. I wouldn’t be caught dead anywhere without my red stilettos, they are basically my whole persona at this point, I am not even sure where they end and I begin. But when I’m hanging around the homestead, I normally just wear my ballet flats, you know, something a little more relaxed for when I’m not out there turning heads and breaking hearts.

I used to wear sandals from the typical brands you find in Tesco e.g. Adda or Gambol. Not the very cheapest versions, but say 400 baht. The last few years, while they are still comfortable, the build quality has gotten worse. I keep having to throw pairs away as they fail at stress points that are near impossible to repair.

I like the ones from Decathlon. Not too expensive, and they last a long time. Regular slides or flip-flops I can't wear; I need the support of a strap type sandal.

Barefoot in the house, cheap rubber “ slides “ in the garden or popping to 7-11, flip flops irritate me between the toes.

Going out i nearly always wear sandals, trainers and socks if driving any distance or plan to walk any tourist area or market etc.

I too wear the cheap sandals, before I would wear the leather sandals ( similar to your bottom photo ) with the memory foam in soles from Bata or the like, very comfortable but the soles would always crack after a while.

I wear sketcher shoes mostly, on the beach I wear scuba shoes because am afraid I will step on glass or something sharp, or even a jelly fish. I don’t wear socks unless I’m going out to dinner.

Crocs flip flops most every day. Not the original, ugly crocs but the sporty looking flips. Very comfortable, even for long walks. Only problem is, they are cheaply made. I've had 3 different pairs break in the same spot-the vertical bar where your toe slides in-within 2 years after ourchase. Kind of exasperating for something that costs 1500 baht. Complaint emails to their Thai offices get shunted around until you give up.

$50 shoes that only last two years?

Going outside I wear loafers plus metatarsal supports. At home (almost all the time) I go barefoot. I have atrophy of fat pads in my feet and barefoot is better than the metatarsal arch.

I live in flip flops. I only ever wear shoes and socks on a cold evening in Northeast Thailand.

I wear welling boots/gum boots when working in the garden. Barefoot inside the house. Thongs when travelling locally. Cycle shoes when cycling. A good pair of comfortable shoes when travelling. I never wear socks. A good shoe should be comfortable without socks.

I find that sweaty feet rot shoes from the inside. We have more sweat glands on our feet; than our under arms.

I always wear the shorty shoe size socks for that reason.

In and around the house barefoot.
