Big C Extra food court looks completely different

Certainly an upgrade, packed earlier, every new table had people on, lots more choice except i couldn't find a noodle soup stall.

Still too many farang with no food or drink loitering blocking the tables.

Jury out on quality, what i had every thing was lowest quality, rice, pork, vegetables

Maybe if they cycled a bit more, they'd have less ailments. Obviously this won't solve their poverty, which is why they eat in food courts.

  • What? After all the food court Poo Poo you have posted you ate there...lol......Well thats a first...

Likewise, I couldn't find one too, whereas they had a good little noodle soup kiosk before the refit.

I was in there yesterday and it was pretty busy as you say. I find there are too many tables and they are packed a bit tight for walking around in there. I am not a fan of the thump thump bang music coming continuously from the kids play area from about 9.30 am too. Yes, many groups of falang use it as a socializing place and enjoy the cool AC. Many start with food and drink but stay longer than they consume, I always have at least a coffee, there must be about 10 places selling that! Glad the irritating crane games have been moved out.

Did you take a look upstairs at Big-C, not even recognizable.

Yes that kids music would slowly drive you mad. Yes Big C very different, keep moving things around, weird that the meat and veg area is after the tills, Thai logic there

Must have been repaired, didn't notice it, it's gone from a shopping centre heading for closure to a central festival feel

I am addicted to Queens Orange cordial. It used to be sold in Tops & 7-1. Then it disappeared until Big C was the only place I could get it. Now it's gone from there too. Has the company gone out of business?

Most likely but with no photo, who knows, sugary drinks are getting dropped by 7 Eleven

Yikes ... that's a depressing description of a place, best avoided, no matter how desperate for a bowl of noodles, coffee or AC. Not worthy the drive, hassle to park & walk in to that scene.

Get a 'cup of noodles' and or coffee at 7-11, sit surfside, hopefully in the shade, or in your car, if driving one. Done that more than a few times, when too hot out.

Don't forget, you got the 'World's Largest 7-11' with seating upstairs

Not only that, he's looking for noodles in a food court, some of the cheapest food around.

LOL. It's not worth the effort to park and walk up the stairs of that 7-Eleven, assuming you mean the one shaped like a ship on Pattaya Tai. I had no idea it was the world's biggest, and the inside is not the biggest I've seen, if you don't count the seating upstairs. 7-Eleven's are getting bigger by the year, so there's some stiff competition.

I really enjoy some noodle dishes for lunch - and if good value then what is wrong with that?

Does anybody know a good Chicken noodle place which uses actual chicken legs in a tasty broth? The ones I used to use disappeared a while ago?

Pattaya Klang's Farang Club - where the cheap charlie sexpats go to die - don't forget to check out Nirun/Flybird condo bargains on the walk to the toilets.

Not everything is about price, noodle soup can be really good sometimes, not HISO enough for you?

If coming from out of town it is one of the easiest Malls to get into. Usually come down soi 36/1 and then Yume to access the car park at the rear. Easier than Central and T21 to get to. Also open earlier.

I could no be so sad as to buy food and eat it in my car!

Only at surfside if it's brutally hot and beat sitting inside of mall, unhappy with your food and or coffee.

Only as an alternative from sitting at your favorite vendor with a view.

Sit down grill bar actually inside the supermarket on upper floor seems nice, I had a beef burger there yesterday, good menu and very good service!

Big C are on a nationwide upgrade with new layouts, colours and logos. They're changing the supermarket concept to a "lifestyle mall" one-stop shopping concept.

Up here in Udon, the main Big C branch is in the middle of this metamorphosis on the main retail floor. Looks a bit shambolic as there's loads of stuff moved around after each overnight work session and pallets of stuff gets relocated. The staff have been very helpful in directing 'lost' shoppers to whatever they seek. New fridges and coolers with no new shelving above head height so it makes the floor look much bigger and open plan. Not sure about the food court as I've never been there.

Meanwhile, on the north side of town, the main Lotus's is totally unchanged underneath a huge, new shopping mall that's still under construction.

Chiang Mai, Big C (Hang Dong) certainly is being upgraded, not oney the food court.

Why would big c put up posters whinging about the ceiling above the travelater and not just get someone in to repair it ??

The one in our small town in Isaan is being changed around too. It isn't a big one at all, but not a mini big C either. They moved the aisles around, along with where the items used to be. They also have different items then they had before, my Muesli cereal is gone, hopefully they bring it back when they are finished upgrading. The 20 baht store in the parking lot was kicked out, the shoe store inside was also vacated. the only thing left is the gold shop and True/dtac store. The Big C is always busy, so no danger of it closing down.

It was posted on asean now forums

I noticed a new boat noodle place on the left opposite the big 7/11(with the market behind it) as you go down Yume away from Big C northwards. There used to be one outside Big C which was quite good but no idea what this one is like.

The whole shopping center is being given a much-needed make-over, inside and out. Several new restaurants and most of the others, such as Fuji, have remodeled. Big C has been completely re-done and the last time we were there it was doing a very good business--I think many shoppers are returning and welcoming all the changes. We were amazed the first time we went in and saw what had been done in a relatively short time period.
