  • I posted on the other thread (about businesses opening and closing) a few weeks ago about the Pulcinella Italian Risto-Pub that has opened in the former Punch & Judy premises on Soi 17 (Soi Region

  • You have mentioned this in other posts repeatedly???? I know a good short time hotel.

  • Yesterday, went to Welcome Inn on Darkside for Sunday Roast. Had the mixed meat for 260B. Outstanding value and enjoyable meal, could not fault it. Welcome Inn has A/C and had about 6 or 7 punter

Well honestly I've only tried Ali Baba Express once and I found it better. For example their Mutton vindaloo was properly meat on the bone and authentically vinegary. Best tasting vindaloo that I've had in Thailand. Also had a wonderful regional daal and the vegerable pillau was very good too. I did ask for extra spicy so not sure if that made a difference

So 69 baht for a full non red meat curry set including 5 Rotis if you want rotis rather than rice plus free delivery is overpriced to you?!?

You want them to pay you to eat?

Have you tried it yet? If not why would you trash food you haven't even tried?

Sorry can you post photos of the actual dishes ?

I cannot find them everywhere.

I am wondering if it's true that for this price you get less than their usual dishes that are already so small with 25g of meat (a maximum of 5 small pieces...)

Look, I already said two times already that the curry portions are small. I'm not going to put the food on a scale and I'm not going to post pictures either. If you want to see for yourself, try it for yourself. If you don't like the FLAVOR of the food, I will regret recommending them, but you can't ever please everyone. As far as the curry portions, that's why I'm suggesting ordering multiple dishes to have a wonderful varied meal from there. But portion isn't the only factor in value for money. For me, deliciousness is much more important. Also keep in mind they're including a generous portion of BASMATI rice (typically about 80 baht in a local restaurant) or FIVE tawa rotis (typically about 100 baht at 20 baht per roti in a local restaurant) with the curry portions at 69 baht total unless ordering mutton at 99. Come on now, people. If you want delicious FREE food, delivered free, I can't ever help you. I don't think meals on wheels operates here.

Yes it's clear that they are small, but it means nothing ! small compared to what ? is it so  difficult to post a photo ? how ridiculous to not even be able to post a photo or a location as I saw on other posts ?

SO THESE DISHES ARE EVEN SMALLER THAN WHAT RESTAURANTS USUALLY SELL !

is it soooo difficult to just say it ? and do you think that we really need your opinion about how many dishes we should order ?!

wondering if people here are just old or also crazy !!!!

Yet another very tempting daily changed menu at Ali Baba Express.

As I've mentioned before my suggestion to order multiple items at Ali Baba Express as it is so cheap and so good you can enjoy a variety of curries, so why not?

Well for me that means having leftover rice and rotis as their portions on those are so abundant.

So sort of a funny story.

My current main go to Indian restaurant has been Indian Rasoi. Available on multiple apps for delivery, most everything there is quite good and fairly priced particularly their tandoori items. Ali Baba Express btw doesn't do tandoori.

So anyway I ordered a tandoori based meal at Indian Rasoi without rice or bread as I had leftovers. Well they included a free naan anyway! Second time that has happened there.

Another rebuttal to those that think local restaurants are always trying to rip us off.

Thank you for the ridiculous link, I understand that it is sooooo complicated to post a clear picture as this one

and another photo to show the kind of ridiculous portions that they serve and that people support. Finally people will know what kind of scam we are talking about !

Well I think you might agree MOST Indian restaurants in Pattaya are overpriced, with small portions, and soso food....They have gotten a bad rep for a reason...

So maybe you have a list of the good ones you could post?

Actually because so many of the local Indian restaurants have closed because of the pandemic I don't really have much of a list. I have tended to usually have a few go to places that tend to shift over time. Long ago it was the Bollywood place long closed. Then it was a place offering an amazing stuffed tangri kebab but again long  closed  In recent times I was into Masala Twist Jomtien but not lately. Currently its been Indian Rasoi, sometimes Mayura for all vegetarian, and of course I totally love the new addition of Ali Baba Express which has been open less than a week. What really makes Ali Baba Express stand out way above the competition even more than their super low prices which invite sampling multiple dishes is the amazing feature of their DAILY MENU offering more exotic and unusual curries that would excite anyone with a REAL passion for Indian food. For those that always want the same routine dishes such as chicken Tikka masala its obviously not for them though. But really cheap prices, delicious varied cooking,  and constant new choices is like a dream.

I had some food out of 'Indian by Nature' ( next to Frasers ) the other day, very nice but not cheap.

Krua Nha Bann

Very well known Thai restaurant

North Pattaya

Now on Hungry Now app listed as Krue Nha Bann

KRUA NHA BANN, Pattaya - Restaurant Reviews, Photos & Phone Number - Tripadvisor

I reckon many locals know this place and have probably been there. I know it too but I haven't ever eaten there (for a reason that I won't mention so don't even ask).

Anyway, I noticed their menu on Hungry Now without realizing at first what restaurant it was. I was very impressed with the wide variety of menu items including lots of options that aren't on every Thai restaurant menu.

I'm sure I'm not the only expat that struggles sometimes to not to get bored with Thai food. For me a big reason for the boredom is how similar the menus usually are. Maybe it's not fair to say you've seen one green curry, you've seen them all, but I guess you know what I mean.

So I'm always attracted to Thai restaurants that go beyond the obvious choices.

So I did order food from there. Had two dishes.

Snapper over wide noodles in a Hong Kong style vegetable gravy (Thai Chinese style really)

Ribs stir fried in Southern Thai yellow curry

Both dishes were about 150ish.

I would rate the quality and flavor as a solid B, but that's not a dig, a solid B is a good grade!

The portions were medium to somewhat on the small side.

The food good enough for me to want to try a number of dishes on their menu. For example they have what sounds like a hor mok talay which is one of my favorite Thai dishes and isn't on most menus (though it's not called that on their menu).

Eaten many times there.

Was great when it was the original owner, who seemingly was a Thai Celeb?

Sold it, to a Thai Woman a couple of years ago, who seemed more interested in promoting herself than the Restaurant, and the food just slowly went downhill.

IMHO

Certainly used to be called Hor Mok Talay, and have ordered several times here.

[Be careful of Galvanic Shock]

Dish on the left is Laab Thawt.

I meant on the Hungry Now menu. Its called something like Steamed coconut seafood curry there.

BTW about the fish dish I meant to say sea bass not snapper.

Interesting.

OK. Down from  great. So far I don't think it's great either as I rated the food a B. But do you still think its pretty good or not?

Have noticed a popular, but inexpensive place near the junction of Sukhumvit/Thepprasit (not the Tesco side).

The menu looked relatively simple. Steak, fries salad. That sort of thing. But the prices seemed good. Perhaps from 49 or 59 baht. I'll take pics the next time I'm there. Has anyone tried it?

Looking for some feedback here.

I know I'm not the only one that's doing a lot of delivery food these days that ALSO likes discounts.

Do you think current discount information such as promotional codes for delivery apps should be posted here or perhaps there should be a separate thread only for that kind of specialized information. What do you think?

Keep it here because people are also reviewing the food and some might wish to pay a visit to the premises to eat in based on the reviews. More places are probably going to be recieving sit-in customers from today.

Which in the end will be neither.

I don't think it's open.

You already know my thoughts, when it last came up almost a year ago.
