BANGKOK: -- The commissioner of the Royal Thai Police said yesterday the authorities are investigating the Facebook post of Laura Witheridge, sister of Koh Tao murder victim Hannah, in which she slammed Thailand over the “bungled” murder investigation.

Chakthip Chaijinda said he had assigned the International Affairs Division to translate Laura's Facebook post to inspect whether it violates any laws.

In the lengthy Facebook post on Jan. 10, Laura, whose sister Hannah was brutally murdered on Koh Tao in 2014, called the investigation "bungled" and accused the Thai authorities of using her family for press photo opportunities by lying that they were going to give the family an update on the investigation.

She also wrote she had been threatened, chased, and offered bribes by Thais.

if they would just stop beeing idiots and let that story rest they would do their country a much better service that now.

That they now investigate the sister did already make news in europe and to avoid that should be more important that saving face by some investigation of a person that will never visit thailand again !

Looking forward to more take downs if this goes forwards ... facepalm.gif plus more spotlight on the royal thai police and more media coverage on Thailand .. Thai 101 thinking ? coffee1.gif

Something doesn't have to be false to be defamation in Thailand. Idiot face thing.

Will the Junta never tire of bringing negative international attention to itself?

Wrong move , Chakthip Chaijinda , do not feed the media with more BS, facepalm.gif

but the rest of the world will look forward to it.

Not allowed to criticize the government, nor the police, the king, religion. Not allowed to criticize anything in Thailand. It's probably the best country in the world to put your hard-earned money and pensions into. Nothing to criticize and if there finally is something to criticize. Then you not allowed. Love Thailand. facepalm.gif

Contemptible. Get the feeling if they proceed it'll blow up in their faces, badly.

What an ugly, appalling outfit

I rather like that they are showing their arse true colors to the world. Who knows, the life this exposure saves may be someone you know. coffee1.gif

So if Thailand will prosecute her for negative remarks, what about all the TVF members comments? Should we be worried?

With all the stories about monitoring maybe we should and with good reason.

Surely for Thai public consumption, promoting the idea that the powers that be in Thailand have reach beyond their borders (in other words, fooling the slaves into thinking their masters have any real power).

I doubt he/they really believe they can achieve anything beyond passing some motion that if she ever goes to The Land Of Corruption they'd get her then.

Again, I say the British government needs to stand up for its citizens and warn them before going to that backwards and morally bankrupt country. This is salt in the wound for any British family who suffered when Thailand killed their family members.

What more proof do people need that Thailand does not respect its guests and needs boycotting?

Nearly all guests in Thailand have only positive things to think about the place until the Thais damage their own reputation by abusing people they should be taking care of. That is the bottom line: Thais have damaged their reputation and they deserve nothing less than to be openly held responsible and not be allowed to abuse the citizens of other countries.

Thailand, shame on you.

British government, shame on you even more.

The Thais don't know how stupid they look in the eyes of other people. Threatening, albeit a clandestine verbal one by the RTP highlights just how insular (read stupid) they really are. Hiding behind 'Thainess' just doesn't promote credibility at all. It is normal to want to defend ones own country it however here it seems all to often wannabe people open their mouths without putting their brains into gear first.

Laura's postings reveal a small part of the frustration both families are experiencing with not only the murder verdict but also the continual bullish!t that the Thais deal out.

There is a long history of the RTP perverting the course of justice and it will not stop here. There are reports that they do it for the protection of the tourist industry. Maybe so yet make no mistake that serious money has also changed hands.

I am sure she couldn't care less about what they do. If she is smart, she might even turn the heat up.

Meanwhile, old box head still roams the planet and he has caused Thailand so much more trouble than this.

Sad days indeed.

If everyone speaks their mind without fear and challenges the archaic thinking it will help Thailand evolve into a third world country of some merit. But, not if countries like the UK continue keeping their head where the sun don't shine because such unresponsiveness to Thailand's feudal mentality encourages further abusiveness.
