"Pretty" conned me out of a million baht - says disappointed groom to be

 

 

A Lamphun man has complained to the government's Damrongtham help center in Chiang Mai that he has been conned to the tune of a million baht by a "pretty" from a well known spa.

 

Tossaphon, 30, a pig farmer, said that Woraporn had strung him along and promised to marry him. He thought it was true love and kept loaning her money.

 

Even when she wanted to delay their wedding last December he kept on transferring money to her account. 

 

In the end, what with the booking of the wedding hotel, the pre-nuptial photographs, the invitation cards and the outfits - along with the loans - she owed him a million baht.

 

He had gone to the police but when they tracked down Woraphon she said the money was given to her.

 

The penny finally dropped for Tossaphon when the separation became longer and Facebook and telephone contact was blocked.

 

Then he found out this was not the first time that his potential wife had done this.

 

So on Thursday he went to Damrongtham to ask them to try and find her. 

 

"She has done this before," he said, "and I don't want anyone else to get conned again".

Contrary to common belief, foreigners do not have the monopoly on being tossed in LOS.

Must be a shortage of Farangs these days.

Hope he took his worm for a gallop for the 1 million baht.

She worked at a well known spa ?  Well known by paying police officers no doubt, which would explain their inaction with this case.

Even a presumably poorly educated pig farmer must have known she was a prostitute ...oops, sorry I forgot prostitution is illegal in Thailand. I should have said bar girl, or hostess

Sorry, but maybe their inaction is because -- it would be hard to charge her with anything.   Since prostitution is illegal, the offering of money would be just that -- a gift with the hope of marrying her.  The fact is that other competitors for her hand were also willing to compete in the same manner.  Karma one day might catch up with her and someone one day will likely go to prison.... but it would likely be someone for her murder because it caused them to lose face.

He's lucky he's got a million of baht to play the game of hearts, many people don't. So he should just shut up and stop whining like a little kid that he is (and I thought all pig farmers were men!)

Pig farming must be a pretty good paying profession. Being a pretty must be a pretty good paying profession.

I wonder what would happen if Farrang coned a Thai woman.... Death penalty ???

To be fair to Tossapon, the article states he is the owner of a large pork crackling business. (Of course he may well own the pig farm too).

Its never been just Foreigners though Kadilo. Never understood why some thought it was. Natives get duped as well. Same in other countries. There are con artists everywhere. This is more of a "Guy" thing. Let the other "Head" make decisions and the prettier they are, the dumber the guy becomes.

No....foreigners here are just whiners who think all thai people are against them....not at all the reason they are old and miserable, so the younger women are taking advantage of them.

 

Duh....Thais get scammed way more. There are so many stories my ex told me of friends and family borrowing money from her wealthy father and not paying back.

 

I see Thais get scammed and robbed just the same....at markets and taxis. There is no farang conspiracy. There is only a complainer farang who complains about his nanny state, but expects to be in one when he moves to a third world country.

Hormones take control of a man, Then lost money! Such is life. Happened to me. Get over it. Life goes on. You learnt a lesson in life.

 

Ever notice how the farmers are the only group claiming to go hungry here, yet "pik" prices are always going up, and this guy has a million laying around to give to a bimbo.  He should have gone into business loaning it to the expats struggling to get their 800K seasoned, couldn't have been any worse.
