Thai woman goes berserk at Chiang Mai airport - breaks guard's leg and drags him 20 meters under pick-up

A Thai woman aged about 40-50 went berserk outside the domestic terminal of Chiang Mai airport yesterday afternoon.

 

She was angry that she had been clamped then fined for parking in the drop-off area.

 

A security guard on traffic duty was left with a broken left leg and four vehicles were damaged. The guard was dragged 20 meters by the woman in her Toyota Vigo pick-up.

The woman was arrested after being stopped about 50 meters from the incident by airport officials.

 

Witnesses said that the woman had parked illegally outside and gone into the terminal.

 

Announcements were made on the PA to get her to return to her vehicle which was clamped. She eventually turned up after an hour.

 

She was made to pay a fine then went crazy driving into the guard and four other vehicles - a Fiesta, a Fortuner, a Toyota van and a Mercedes Benz S500.

 

The security guard is in ICU at Maharat Nakorn Chiang Mai Hospital.

 

Police said the incident occurred at about 4.15pm near gate 5 of the domestic terminal.

 

She has yet to be named and no charges were mentioned in the Sanook report.

The guys being treated outside the international terminal. No matter, hitting a Benz s600 is going to cost her (or her insurance company...) She better roll up to the hospital with flowers for the security guard, pray at a temple and think of an excuse for her actions quickly.

There is little doubt, this should be an attempted murder charge & jail time... People cannot be getting away with such outrageous behavior and harming others.

My Mrs got clamped picking me up. It was paltry,  I can't even remember the amount.  The guard was polite,  cheerful, and prompt at freeing her.  The fine was probably equal to the pittance the car park charges,  and I was a bit miffed she kept us hanging about after a day in airports. 

They should tow offenders,  it makes more sense. 

I hope this psychopath gets more than a slap on the wrist,  but the cow probably knows some influential arsehat who will smooth it over for a few wais, and some beer money.

Incidents like this make me realise why Thai people are so tolerant of others, rarely complaining, they understand their own better than we do! knowing full well this could well be the reaction if they do complain. ?

What fool would think they can park their car in the drop off area of CM Airport and leave it for an hour? Its like a slow moving gridlock outside the terminal nowadays. A 400 baht fine is cheap to get the clamp removed and 1 hour of parking outside the entrance door! She should be happy with that but no she has run over the security guy and drag him along under the truck. Notice how they don't even handcuff her. Will she go to jail maybe not. She might not even have seen the inside of cell at the police station before she was bailed. Meanwhile dirt poor rural folk picking mushrooms in the forest get jailed for 30 years for "illegal logging".

Do what they do at Lahore airport. Anyone leaving their car more than two mins risks a fork lift coming along and lifting the car over the barrier. Road rage impossible.
