Why do so many of you care about Soi 6?  I used to once in while walk down Soi 6 to see if any of them met my expectations.  I always left alone.  It's a great place to pick up a disease or bed bugs.

Bed Bugs would be preferable.

If you always left alone, how do you know about picking up disease or bed bugs there?

I don't need to crash my car into a bridge abutment to know that it is something I don't want to do.

And I don't need to ask you any further about any evidence to support your contention that the demimondaines of Soi 6 are raddled with disease or that the short-time rooms in Soi 6 have bed bug infested bunks.

Thanks!

I havent been on soi 6 (bar just the once) since I was in one place and bought the manager a drink. Didnt think nothing of it until I went to check bin. There were 2 Lds prices there and I had bought just one...."oh no" says cashier "manager get commission as well"

Have been just the once in three years since that and avoided that bar

Yes, the manager drink seems to be a regular thing nowadays, as is the cult of the celebrity (in their own mind) bar manager. Not only can you buy the manager a drink, you can pose for selfies and get your photo in a facebook group. Sadly, there appears to be group of sad expats who worship these celebrity bar managers, follow them on facebook, join their FB groups etc.

^happened to me last night in a beer bar too. She bought me one as I'm a regular customer so I reciprocated, it was a turbo charged ladies drink price.

Celebrity bar managers lol

Absolute utter idiots I only know one manager who just remotely might be called that from the past and that would be Larry of ex secrets and Babydolls. Certainly not a celebrity but maybe well known

Who are these fruitcakes from Soi 6 then ??

Haha, man drinks. I think I can guess you were in one of the many bars of a particular group. So avoiding the one may not suffice. Bloody commission on male manager drinks, you wouldn't credit the B.S. would you! Did he buy one in return?

Your first mistake was fraternizing with a manager.  It's best to avoid them imo.  Don't be one of those guys that likes to say "I know the manager".  Contrary to what some may think, that's not a good thing.

I've had managers track me down to bars that I drink in and then ask where have you been? When a table full of your friends suddenly disappear it makes a dent in their business. But when they don't listen to why they disappeard then that is why they are losing customers.

Farangs with their Thai partners who run the bar are most prone to not listening.  Up to them.

Its just taking the pish. What on earth goes through their tiny brains that doesnt grasp that this would likely put off a lot of people ever returning again to that bar.

Clearly lacking in the intelligence department

I guess the manager wants to get in on some matey back slapping drinking party and salary is partly compensation. Maybe with cuts if  LDs  MD  quotas are not met. Not my idea of why I am in a soi 6 bar!

From my experience as a resident, many LT residents go to Soi 6.  They mostly avoid WS like the plaque.

For what it is and what it is for, I believe it may be the greatest Soi/street in Asia.  Maybe the world.

I for one appreciate the place.

Good value, quality, plenty plenty of selection.

I tell my friends in the US and they do not believe any of it.

I show them some online videos and they look with their mouths open...

I like it a lot.

I go and enjoy at least once a week.  Rarely have had a bad experience.

Enjoy while you can because I see at some point it all going away.

I know I am certainly taking advantage of it while it is still here.

Well enjoy it while it lasts because if City Hall actually do implement zoning in June/July 2020 this time than the vast majority of those bars will be gone. They may relocate but the day it happens is the day soi 6 dies

you will learn after awhile that everything is like that here, cant bash the bar for making it obvious. in fact you may want to thank them for the valuable lesson.

Lots of changes for the good going on in north Pattaya and it's gotten very busy.

None of the changes in Pattaya since the late 90s have been "good" for Pattaya.

Pattaya had too much accommodation by this century and more is just going to make the road congestion worse, make water shortages more severe etc.

Not just Soi 6. I made the mistake of buying the cashier of a north Second Rd bar beer a drink only to be ignored thereafter. Wasn't as though the bar was busy either.

Everything ends, and the more enjoyable one finds it the sooner it ends.

What were you expecting of her? She presumably has a job to do. Maybe the days of bar-fining a cashier are done and dusted.

a fine example of how buying someone a drink does not automatically make them like you.

another gem of truism found in a pattaya bar ????

There's a sizeable block of land next to some existing gentleman's clubs on Soi Bongkot.  Still, it wouldn't fit as many bars as Soi 6.

There's actually no need for Soi 6 to be so close to the beach, and any rezoning would take into account water views for a big hotel or condo block.

The issue that effects Soi Bongkot is it's not on a baht bus route, where Soi 6 is.

Soi Post Office 13\2 needs a complete makeover, needs many more bars, make it like Soi 6

Who would put money into any place here now, in the current economic climate?

Read The Lion Pub closure thread.  The lease holder renovated 6 months ago, apparently, the landlord must have thought he would not walk away, after paying for a renovation, so put the rent up, and the lease holder shut the doors.
