Employment rate for the third quarter falls 2.1 percent

The employment rate in the non-farming sector, for the third quarter of this year, has fallen by 2.3% whereas, in the farming sector, it has fallen by 1.8%, according to the National Economic and Social Development Board (NESDB)

NESDB Secretary-General Tossaporn Sirisamphan attributed the fall to natural problems, economic slowdown and shrinking exports.

Production, wholesale and retail trade and construction have generated fewer jobs, while job vacancies in the tourism-related sector, such as hotels, restaurants, transport and warehousing, have increased by 1.04%, or 394,000 job vacancies.

Or as most people would see it. Unemployment rate rises by 2.1 percent.

I think they got "up and down" mixed up. (not sure which way is up)

I found the OP quite confusing, even after a few reads.

If the NESBD don't know the difference between rise and fall what hope does the country have.

Wonder if the unemployment rate of coyotes and bargirls is and where they are going up or continuing to go down!!!

Tourist numbers are supposedly up by an impressive percentage, yet employment in the tourist industry is down? Go figure! If both is correct (and you never know), it probably means that the "quality" of tourists has slipped - more of them staying at cheap hotels that don't need as much staff?

How many more fake figures do we have to read about , ask the ordinary thai person in the street about the economy and the state thailand is in . What is being achieved by these manufactured figures the people will tell you they are getting poorer and struggling to pay there bills .

I would advise the few incoming single farangs to shop at Home Pro or Global House.  You will meet some cute young ladies—much purer than in a girlie bar.

If you speak a bit of Thai head to a city,  town or larger village up country and your supply of nubile young things will be almost limitless.  Even a crusty old dog like me gets into conversations with sweet young things.....and sometimes I tell em I am married but she keeps the conversation going!  But I don't play around.  So,  there you have it lads, blow off Pattaya and Patong and head North.

About 1/2 of the Thais seem to work at Home Pro.

Work do not seem to me the right word;
make a show of presence , the smartphone in hand , waiting desperately the clocking time ....:crying:

But I am sure they still have openings.

Thaiwatsadu have lots of openings for those who like dark corners and dislike customers.  Over-manned by 50% minimum.

I also wonder how they do to survive with so many employees paid to do nothing except watch the latest stupidity on their smartphones.
If their employer asked them to leave the smartphone in the cloakroom, I am sure that many would commit suicide.

Unlike Home Pro then

I was in there a while back and was looking at cupboard handals. When I turned around 4 of their staff had crept on on me from behind and were hovering 2 meters away like a pack of wolves.

I was startled and blurted out

" No , don't eat me ! I'm not tasty "

That got a laugh and they backed off.

For 3rd month I can not get staff. Advert gets 16 interested people , 2 actually bother to call and none show up for interview. Like this for 3 months. Once who have shown up for interview do not match a single criteria I am looking for. From as simple as being 25 years old and up.
