Amitpal Singh Bajaj was killed while on holiday in Thailand in August 2019. Police have now stated that the victim was murdered.

The investigation into the death of a man on holiday in Thailand has developed as police now say he was murdered.

Amitpal Singh Bajaj, aged 34, of Southall, London, was on holiday with his family at the five-star Centara Grand Hotel on Karon Beach, Phuket.

However, at around 4:00 am on August 21, 2019, Roger Bullman stormed into Mr Bajaj’s bedroom after singing on his balcony.

A fight ensued which ended when Bullman strangled Mr Bajaj in front of his wife Bandhna Kaur Bajaj and their two-year-old son.

Norwegian national Bullman, aged 53, was arrested and charged with manslaughter but went on the run before appearing in court.

I'd also be looking at how he managed to get out of the country and who was involved

so many question marks with this story, why would anyone sings at 4 am and disturb other guests, how can anyone storm into locked hotel room strangle a man and no one calls for help? and why the police has to take the time and think weather it was a murder, natural death or a suicide?...

You're omitting manslaughter from your choices. And since it looks like it would be manslaughter or murder, a decision not always easy to make, that is important.

If someone was singing on a hotel balcony at 4am, I think it quite likely that at least one of the nearby guests would be disturbed and open the hotel door to go into the corridor before knocking on the door of the person causing the disturbance.

If someone is the type of person who thinks nothing of disturbing others at 4am (perhaps through alcohol, perhaps not) then I think it's likely that a confrontation would ensue, escalating into violence.

Perhaps the other guests were heavy sleepers, didn't want to get involved. Someone called the police, I'm sure. I'm also sure that the arrested guy had a story different to what actually happened, maybe claimed self defence and said the other guy attacked him, we don't know...

The original report stated that he was singing and drunk on the balcony, the British man complained. The drunk man jumped from one balcony to the next and attacked him. Wife ran out of the room and screamed for help but before any help arrived he was dead.

the question as another poster has mentioned is how on earth he managed to get let out on bail, how on earth he was able to leave the country and what efforts are being made to bring him back to face charges. I guess lots of people will have their theories on these matters.

They should have thought a litle more about this before letting him out on bail.

from the full story:

"She was shocked and very upset when she learned that Bullman had been freed on bail and feared he would disappear… and he did just that. If only the Thai police had given more thought about releasing him, he would have been before a judge now and the case would have proceeded."

The Thai police is true to their standard.

It would depend upon whether it was premeditated or not, did he enter the room to kill or was it done in the heat of the moment, more likely is that he was/is mentally unstable.

Actually amazing Norway, where a security guard gets paid enough money to be able to afford 5 star hotel ????

This happened months ago, guy has been on the run for months, whatever happened with that? Have they not been able to find him? or another wrongly filed interpol red notice?

They spotted him at the Hanoi embassy apparently looking for a replacement passport.

How does one get from Thailand to Vietnam, crossing three national border checks, without a passport?

It seems there are so many homicide investigations in Thailand that just do not end well. They had the suspect in custody, they had an eye witness and then the suspect doesn't show up for court. What's wrong with this picture? What was the suspect doing being free to begin with when he killed someone? A murder suspect just seems to vanish. It seems the Thai Police need an overhaul in their methods of investigation, apprehension and the holding onto of suspects.

Sorry, 4 border checks without a passport? Assume he went through Cambodia?

Thailand exit

Cambodia entry

Cambodia exit

Vietnam entry

I'd understand sneaking over one border, but 4? Seems impossible.

Says a huge amount about the ineptitude of the Police system here

Always thank and compliment a Norwegian on his singing. My Grandmother told me that when I was a boy, now I know why.????

Says more about the power of a bribe in Thailand, IMHO.

Why not use Google? You will find tens of articles from August-September about this story.

And BTW the attacker was first charged for "fatal physical assault". It's what changed today.

I'm sure that can be put down to the general incompetence of the Thai authorities.

You mean that there are no bail jumpers in other countries?

Through the balcony...

"Mrs Bajaj showed officers how Bullman burst into her bedroom through the balcony doors."
