Netizens rage! Angry Farang locked Thai workers up in dog cage!

Thai social media was in meltdown after a popular fan page posted a story that claimed a "farang" had locked up his Thai workers in a dog cage after a disagreement.

Foreigners came in for some bashing after the story hit as it was claimed that four workers were being kept imprisoned with no food and water.

Netizens slammed the foreigner for treating Thais like animals.

However, Amarin TV went to investigate and were given access to the Blue Dream Shelter - a facility with 40 kennels that looks after 200 dogs in Ban Kruat of Buriram in Thailand's north east.

There reporters met with Michael though it was his wife who did most of the talking denying that the story was true.

A Thai Rath News Show feature posted to YouTube showed an angry confrontation over working conditions between the foreigner - Michael - and staff who stay at the facility.

The pregnant wife told reporters how it was all a misunderstanding.

She admitted that her husband was a hothead who sometimes had a go at the workers when they messed up.

But no one was imprisoned at the facility - they were free to come and go. If that was not the case the police would have been - they had not gone to the facility, she said.

The Amarin report suggested that the workers were paid in excess of 10,000 baht.

Daily News reported that the kennels had been investigated in October about its financing.

The story had broken on the fan page "Karian La-orn Khum 3" on Facebook.

probably was true because the way the police work here is to do nothing if a thai will get in trouble when a farang is involved therefore the farang also wont get in trouble. Thais dont look nicely on cruelty to animals so blame the farang and everyones happy????

Same sort of thing happens to me every couple days with my retarted neighbors????

Know this guy, total nutcase. Google "The Sound of animals". Met him 7 years ago, he was raving about his love of dogs, some friends living in the Prakhonchai area say he used to go around to feed the strays. Which makes him a nuisance that should be sent back to his homeland. But he developed his "Go fund me" to the extent where he employs about 10 people to take care of hundreds of dogs. There will be some nice work for the authorities who let the situation develop...

Farang bashing is a national sport here, just to remind them all the good stuff farangs did for this country and its people, but as we all know, it's very easy to hate than to be tolerant and non judgmental...

sounds like a real tool, hope they run him out of here..

I know a couple of people over that way who have had experiences  with him. Nothing  good. Apparently he has no income other than by skimming some of the charity's  funds. Many of the  locals apparently despise him and  have some quite horrifying stories about him. Also was/is in the habit  of claiming he is a qualified  Medical Doctor but denies it in moments of  official trouble.

Barking mad: Workers in Buri Ram complain of being detained by kennel owner

By The Nation

Police were called on Sunday (December 22) to a kennel in Buri Ram’s Ban Kruat district to investigate a claim by a worker that the staff were being kept captive by the owner of a shelter called “The Sound of Animals”

When the officers arrived, they found 15 workers arguing with owner Michael  and his wife Tanyanun.

Savoey, 41, who is employed by the kennels told police that the shelter has a staff of 15 looking after the dogs and that between them they take care of 15 to 20 canines, feeding, bathing and exercising them for a monthly salary of Bt10,000. While they are satisfied with the salary, they have to put up with Chour’s frequent angry outbursts.

“It’s getting harder and everyone is bitten often but Michael will not let the workers go to the hospital until their shifts are finished at 6.30pm and they have to pay for the treatment themselves,” she claimed.

She went to the police after the owner ordered the staff into the kennel and refused to let them leave as a punishment for talking outside. Because the only water was outside, they became dehydrated,

Tanyanun admitted that her husband had a quick temper but said the workers must do the jobs for which they are paid. “If the dogs don’t get enough care, he gets mad,” she said. “But the claim that they were detained is untrue. The doors weren’t locked so they could have gone out anytime they wanted.”

If its that bad they can quit anytime , they're not being forced to work their and pretty much mostly only have one dog to take care of so not exactly overworked are they .

I can only imagine how much time they spend sitting around talking/smoking like most Thai workers you see everywhere around the country .

Not excusing what this guy did, if it's in fact true.

However, Thailand, Cambodia etc aren't really renowned as havens of workers-rights, slavery on fishing boats etc, exploitation.

Didn't google him but I hope he is not a total nutcase according to you because he feeds strays and looks after hundreds of dogs.

It is mind boggling to me, that society has devolved to the point where a post on social media, is now taken as "news and fact". It means nothing. Less than nothing. A post on social media is less than zero. It has not been vetted, it has not been proven, and it could be completely made up. Social media is lowering the quality of life, for the entire planet. Some forums are functional, like this one. But many are simply inane. And then you have the "influencers". Like I am going to buy a product due to what they say? I may be showing my age here, a bit, but the entire social media thing seems a bit ridiculous to me.

And then you have this whole online rage thing. Really? Do you have a life? Do you not have anything better to do with your time, then rage against these silly posts? I know I tend to vent a bit on this forum, but somehow it seems less contrived. Am I living in a state of delusion, or is some of this close to the mark?

Or, I know it sounds crazy, how about just treating them with some respect and not making them wait till the end of their shift to go to a hospital if they have been bitten - crazy I know.... or we could just ignore them cos Mr Barstool says Thais are lazy

Story is very incomplete. He is accused of killing dogs for no reason. 22 known cases, accused of being a fraud , pretending to be a vet , mistreatment of animals .

accused of tax evasion , refusing to show books to all donors. Had to pay and did pay 1.8 baht in tax just last week.
