Farangs who don’t wear face masks should be kicked out of Thailand says health minister

He better apologize. I don’t think TAT was happy to hear the words coming out from his ugly mouth, you never know. I’m also shocked the news reporter didn’t react.

From now on, no more tips in thai restaurants to show my disgrace for what this country has become, and the people aren’t doing anything about it. Let the tourism continue to sink and I won’t be recommending Thailand as a welcoming destination anymore. Racist scum!

Openly showing what this government thinks of us.

  • So much wrong with what just came out of this little man's mouth. That was extremely racist and xenophobic. Very ugly to see a person of his stature in the government talking like this.    I

  • So can we file defamation charges against him now or does it only work the other way around? ????‍♂️

I know that WHO stands for this. But they are all governed by governments WHO want to use them for their benefit - this is my opinion.

Jesus, man...stop posting!

You are showing complete ignorance!

"But they are all governed by governments...", but a Thai- minister ...who is part of (waaaaaaaiiiiiiit for it...!) THE THAI - GOVERNMENT is the pinnacle of knowledge about health!?

"Who is the WHO?"

How about you learn to use google?

...and that thing between your ears!

I know who the WHO is and Google. And yes - there is something between my ears - not sure what. But you think all this will prevent me to get this virus?

This virus is really easily spread. Masks are not going to do much. They found 40 new cases in a quarantined cruise ship today in Japan. Just because one infected Hong Kong passenger was in the ship LAST WEEK and had also already left.

No this sadly is not satire. I myself use a 3M 95N mask when I go to the Central Shopping Mall here in Pattaya. I see very many Asian people using masks. But I don't see many Farangs using them. Now the question arises - are we using the masks sick or the others?

I’ve just been outside and I’ve seen many people not wearing masks. I’d say about 1 in 10 had a mask on. I didn’t see any ‘farangs’ at all. Should a get my lasso and round them up? They’re endangering my mask-wearing health.

It all makes sense now. This must be the same bureaucratic tool that thought up the recently implemented O-A Retirement Visa Health Insurance Scam Program!! He wants all westerners out of Thailand either by forcing them to buy worthless insurance policies or now by not wearing worthless virus protecting masks.

I wonder why he didn’t also say that the Thais should rip off white foreigners with 100% -1000% higher prices. So national park style like.

There is already a hotline where the Thai people are asked to denounce foreigners.

Thailand is unfortunately becoming more and more xenophobic.

And this xenophobia does not come from the normal population, but is fueled by the government with such hate words.

Unbelievable! Where does all this hatred come from?

I understand when people talk in the kitchen, but this is on a government level. I'm speechless.

I think you would find that those who talk in their kitchens, normal Thai people, do not share the hatred of foreigners that the government has. They do though share a hatred for the government they did not ask for and do not want.

Just watched that YouTube clip with the subtitles ... well, what a Nazi tosser. Nice racist rant Oberführer Anutin.

The masks might even make this worse because so many slip it on and off below jaw and touch it all the time. Or use it for days again and again.

I did not wear one today. Anxiously waiting for the SWAT team.

again..farang, farang. What a m****!!!!! Keep those out, who belong to the riskiest group like most other countries are doing.

While I think that everyone in central BKK should wear a face, mask it`s about the HOW he talk about the issue. So I have 0 pity if Thailand <deleted> up their economy more and more. Karma and they fully deserve it!

Guess we can’t rely on the term “Love you long time” anymore ????

Anutin steamed as farang turn down facemasks

Anutin Charnvirakul

Public Health Minister Anutin Charnvirakul got a little miffed at Western tourists this week when several rebuffed the protective facemasks that he was personally distributing on a Bangkok street.

Anutin said the incautious farang should be reported to their embassies and expelled from Thailand. Asian tourists and especially Chinese were meanwhile happily accepting the masks, he said.

The Chinese are perhaps in a mood to be grateful after the government decided to keep granting them visas on arrival.

It had been suggested the privilege be withheld amid the coronavirus scare, but the value of Sino-Thai relations prevailed.

At the same time, Anutin and other officials have been strongly criticised by fellow Thais online for the government’s initially slow and ineffective response to the virus outbreak.

Anutin later apologised on Facebook for his comment, insisting the government is doing its best to tackle the situation and deserved respect for trying – not the kind of rejection he experienced.

The mask should be packed in plastic and not being given with bare hands to start with.

Who is WHO?! I think in the meantime everyone should have understood that in respect of the Corona virus we are not talking about a cold or a runny nose. We need to stop it as soon as possible and not lean back and watch what will happen. I see the proactive stance of the Thai government as a positive approach. Of course it is free to you to say "Don't worry". Let it be your personal experience and don't blame others.

Please stop showing your ignorance and do a few seconds research. Google will help you. It will tell you what the WHO is, as you obviously have taken zero notice of the news on tv, radio and the internet. And it will also tell you who is most at risk, and why. Instead of making yourself look stupid by writing nonsense, spend the time learning what you are writing about. Come back to us if you then have anything useful to contribute.

It would obviously be idiotic to take one from someone who has touched them with their hands though, wouldn't it? And also plainly pointless wearing one if you do not show symptoms or care for the sick (even if the WHO state that: although as you claim, now you remember you have heard of them after all, they only act in support of all those pesky foreign governments). So as no 'farang' actually have the virus, according to your government, the answer is, there is no point farang wearing them and the only ones who need to are the sick or those likely to have been exposed, to reduce spreading it.

Dude...the WHO (eg PROFESSIONAL DOCTORS) says, it is not necessary to wear these masks in everyday life!

Go figure!

Now you get a little golden star, for being a good little soldier, doing everything you are told!

In his online apology, he said the foreigners “showed disgust at Thais.”

“I apologize that today I kinda ‘lost myself’ to some Europeans who showed disgust at Thais who wear masks and refused to cooperate to wear the masks,” he wrote on Facebook.

That's no apology

Thais never apologize.

They're always right and never make mistakes.

And if, then it was all a misunderstanding.

Its OK, we foreigners wash our hands many times in the foreign only toilet....what next....Thai only carriages on BTS and MRT....segregation went out years ago...muppet

I am not an expert but I am confident that all the mental power here on TV can solve many if not all problems. So if you would be the Thai government what would you do in this situation?

It is quite possible the "caucasians" thought he was Chinese and avoided him (literally) like the plague!!

They would not want a mask touched by his fingers and certainly not want to get near him.

So for me the interesting take on this is that Farang and the tone it was delivered in is "using a derogatory Thai tone when describing Europeans" ...

Here we are embracing it because the Thais have sold us a story that it is just a normal general use for european people ...

That is exactly why I hate that word. It is usually always derogatory. But at this moment I have a few select ones for him, but I would be suspended another time if I did.

Oooooh...so you mean going on a racist tirade, giving out subpar masks with bare hands, stating everything is 100% under control...really helps?

So for starters, I would 100% NOT DO those things!
