CONFIRMED: Alcohol sales banned until further notice, some businesses allowed to reopen

Featured Replies

If they won't allow the selling of alcohol then everything should remain closed, and the people it doesn't affect should be made to suffer too

no restaurants, no shopping (unless to buy rice), no libraries, no forms of exercise

and certainly no golf or any hobbies in general (in or outside the house)

  • Does giving pep talk to adults on how to run their lives give a bit of a feel good. Some say live your own life.

  • I think golf courses should remain closed. I don't play golf nor do I even care. I just feel they should be closed based on the fact it doesn't affect me at all.

  • We'll be healthier than before, once alcohol ban is lifted.    Not a bad time to stop drinking altogether and spend the time and money to something else?   Some say that it takes 3

Some say that it takes 3 weeks to change habits, good or bad. Now we have ample of time to do just that.

Are you drunk? If not, you should be.

Do adults actually have any say in what they choose to do or not do? I drink and I am already healthy - I don't wish to be more healthy. The good news is metamphetamines and all other drugs are still cheap and easily available.....

Can't even have a cold one at the end of the day ? I'm done here.

I hope future potential tourists and expats remember this and go elsewhere.

Did you not stock up with your pantry being full.  Only food needed is hot dogs and Mac N Cheese, just like in the college days.....Carling Black Label beer

You could always just walk away, plenty of other countries with ready and waiting hungry families.

.......... and some of these countries allow you to buy alcohol whenever you like.

very intelligent comment. Maybe you should come here to my 13 member family and tell them your comment face to face. Now they fighting not to loose their existences.

The Indonesians have a word: korupsi. It's a broken government basically using their ill-gotten power to punish the big big booze companies because they've refused to roll over in the past and do as they are told. Zero to do with COVID-19.

Are you trying to insinuate it is because of the top 20 richies did not give the military government a handout to run the government more into he ground and line their pockets? My ears hurt!

Ok a few days ago i said i guess this would not happen. I think I have to eat my words as it did happen.

I wonder how many foreigners are now calling their embassy to be airlifted out as they feel its a medical emergency now they can't have their beer. ????

I guess a lot of people are saving a lot of money now. For the poor this is great news no fights about how to spend the limited funds on food or on alcohol. Bad news for those who can afford it but can't buy it.

If only the people had not spoiled it by holding big parties with alcohol at homes and breaking all the rules. Too bad for the good ones that everyone is suffering now.

It would be nice to hear what kind of hobbies people have started or continued because of the current and continuing situation. Solutions.

My new hobby was wine making and have recently extended it to cider making due to the current idiotic situation.

Solution!

My new hobby is trying to name all the beers and spirits that I've had in my life and giving them a mark out of ten!

Good, they should keep the booze ban.

Great to see golf will reopen can't wait to hit the links.

Prefer a golf ban and be able to have a cold beer to be honest.

Amazing how many enjoy alcohol here (including me and not saying being alcoholics) : 115 posts in less than 1 hour ????

I bought for 10 days just before Songkhran. If I'd known they were going to just outright enforce prohibition indefinitely I'd have bought as much as I needed until I can get out of this totalitarian state. I don't drink much but won't live anywhere I'm told I can't enjoy a cold beer at home when I want one.

In fact, there was one case of a drinking session where the infected person infected all his friends.

As a Thai lady I lived with once said, "Why would I care about people I've never met?"

They have been waiting to be able to buy alcohol and now they can't. What else should they do now?

I've still got two bottles of rum left .... now the mom and pop stores have all run out it's easier to buy drugs than alcohol.

These can open on May 3.

Markets, including fresh markets, flea markets and walking streets, can

Restaurants,  mom and pop shops,

Retails shops, IT shops, convenience stores and small local stores outside of malls

Most of the above never closed in Ubon Ratchathani.

Freaking idiots they are, that is for sure. They bankrupt even bars that did do OK before COVID-19 now.
Besides most bars were never busy during low season, we have less than 0.0025% infected and borders are still closed. WHAT RISK?!?! Or drink at home?!?!!?

Anyone trying to tell me this is about the virus, is crazy and I would be Santa. They force me to keep smoking pot.

Because when Thais are drunk they do stupid things and the COVID-19 cases go through the roof.

Yes, unlike Brit football fans, who are always so well behaved. ????

Spend time doing what? We are pretty limited in what we can do right now. Staying at home and being a good member of society is much easier to do when you can enjoy a drink at the end of the day or week.

Ever heard of home exercise, online courses, movies, going for a nice walk outdoors, music, cooking a nice meal, reading a book, learning a new skill online...

Alcohol is just a small part of life, and as the poster stated, it will be good for you health.

Zzz boring reply. Not even related to my answer. You must be such a one dimensional person if you think alcohol is so important.

Just ordered my dealer to deliver in my mailbox. At least I will have some pot for another month then. Bored to death and getting in fights with wife otherwise.
Guess that is at least nice, to have a loyal and safe one for over 6 years.
