Nearly one in six Britons would refuse Covid-19 vaccine

Featured Replies

Thai news this morning talk about vaccine the way to finish covid. Oxford. I hope that.

But the big problem is...

Nearly one in six Britons would refuse Covid-19 vaccine – survey

Nearly one in six Britons will refuse a coronavirus vaccine if and when one becomes available, and a similar number are unsure whether they will get one, according to a survey.

The findings come amid a significant rise in anti-vaccination sentiment on social media, and represent a threat to efforts to contain the disease.

People refuse the mask, refuse the social distance, protest the statues, now protest the vaccine. Difficult and selfish= thousands die.

Unbelievable.

Although any vaccine will not be 100%, who should care for those without good reason who refuse getting one. Maybe those who refuse should be charged for service in advance.

So nearly 80% would take it, thats good news and means the virus would be eradicated completely dependent on the efficiency of the vaccine.

Not wanting to turn this into a Thai-bashing answer, but do 1 in 6 wear helmets when riding motorbikes, have insurance, licences.

Maybe they are of the view that until a vaccine has been properly trialled clinically (tens of thousands of patients over years: not 45 people over 30 days wtc), and possible complications and potential side-effects properly understood, the risk for them might not be worth it.

Ironically the potential for an adverse reaction to a hurriedly produced vaccine is greatest in the elderly and those with weakened immune systems or other serious underlying health issues - the groups most at risk from serious illness from Covid.

Hmm, I think everyone (thai) will get vaccine. Better than loose business, job.

I agree people lazy to wear mask now a bit. Still necessary supermarket, plaza.

Because we win covid already.

No case now 50+ day already. If have, everybody be serious again, sure.

Totally different in my part of Thailand all are still wearing masks. A bit less then before but when shopping all are wearing masks. People i see making trouble about it and putting fake names on lists are foreigners. I think Thais are far more likely to take the vaccine then the selfish gits that post here complaining about masks, social distancing and tracking.

The freedom and independent thinking that you speak of comes from youtube channels and news sources that care more about clicks and advertisements than about the truth. It is absolutely, fantastically hilarious to watch the new generation of facebook idiots proclaiming masks are a fraud then a month later die of corona virus.

I don't know if I would get a vaccine or not. I am pretty sure I got corona at some point. Would I take it if I knew I could kill my mother with a virus? Yea, probably yes.

Good News indeed.  Those being vaxxed would be 'safe' and would have no reason anymore to force it on those with a different conviction.

So as long as the government doesn't make covid-19 vaxxing mandatory for all, they can promote that 'solution' as much as they want for all I care.

But personally I will never take it when I can avoid it.  The problem however, might be the less democratic attitude in Thailand, where they could make it mandatory in order to be eligible for other services (e.g. hospital admittance, entering the country, etc.).  But as this is Thailand there would doubtlessly be 'solutions' for getting hold of a Vax-certiificate with the Vax in the bin instead of in your body.

I am neither here not there about who takes what but.......

When I see someone like you who otherwise seems intelligent say such a silly thing I wonder.....

Obviously your pro vaccination so that is fine & you will have it if it materializes but.... Why the vitriol towards someone who does not want it?

Where you the same every year towards anyone previously? If someone didn't take say the Polio vaccine would you want them also cast into outer darkness?

Do you not believe in your vaccine? You took it so does your worry not end there?

On a side note my Thai cousin is a lifetime polio wheelchair case as she contracted Polio as a child in Thailand after receiving the Polio Vaccination

(hot batch happens more often than many realize)

But on the good side the Queen of Thailand has a program for such folks & has taken care of her/supported her in school etc.

It's good to know that you now understand that it is a choice. To answer your question, not initially, no, and def not one that is made here or comes from China.  Once proven to be effective, then maybe, yes. But I get to choose. ????

Because in general vaccines help more then they don't those that not want to take it want to benefit from others without themselves taking risks. Those kind of selfish people should be punished. You see it in my country in the bible belt. So yea i have a thing against anti vaxers.

Also the risks are low (this will be tested well) and I believe in that without some stick you get more and more selfish people who want a free ride. I doubt they will release a vaccine that has serious risks not when its for the whole world.

You can't deny that over all the vaccines safe more lives then they ever affect negatively. So why would some people then get a free ride (as a matter of speech). Let them then pay for their free ride in other ways with limitations to certain things like travel to certain countries. I for one am totally for that.

They can still refuse but have to give up something, just like those who don't refuse take a small risk for the greater good.

I am all for your free choice i just hope it means that some countries wont let you in. You want a free ride (benefiting from others who do vaccinate). Id love to see selfish people like that paying one way or the other too.

No i don't different thing. Anti vaxers want a free ride benefiting from the (small) risk others take. So let them pay one way or the other.

there is absolutely no way of measuring vaccine effectiveness
so those saying they benefit everyone today are making illogical statements
you can only measure the ineffectiveness of vaccines which is at minimum 40% INeffective

i also choose not to inject my body with poison, my choice
i would even prefer to have NAS branded on my forehead than take any vaccine
so the sheep know to stay 2m away, their choice

i will not prioritize other peoples fears

I cant imagine how the Thai Authorities will react if there were Foreign Tourists in their Country from the UK that had not been vaccinated.

Maybe another Tourist requirement for the future from Thailand will be a certificate of Vaccination.

A bit similar to being a Dog and having to have a Distemper Certificate.

Then that is ok, entry into Thailand for you. At least your willing to give up something for your convictions. I can respect that. I don't respect the people who want a free ride.

Not bad at all weeds out the selfish people and makes them pay for their choices instead of having a free ride. Freedom is good as long as you pay something for it and stand behind your convictions even if it costs you something. Its not good if you want your freedom (no vaccination) but are not willing to give up something for it  but want to benefit from others taking it.

...

Did it ever occur to you that those 'selfish people' you want to punish, might have very good reasons for refusing vaccination?

The only selfish one here is yourself, who wants to punish those with other convictions because they would - in your opinion - benefit from the 'free ride' by those that choose to get vaccinated.

I am disgusted by such attitude!

i am already here
if they required me to be vaccinated to be able return at any time
i would not return and then sell everything
buy the wife a 2nd passport and move elsewhere

one stat i would really like to know
is how many positives
had already had flu vaccines prior?
