Thailand tourism latest! Tourists invited to go panning for gold!

A cultural expert in Bang Saphan, Prachuap Khiri Khan is advising tourists that there is gold in "them thar hills".

 

Well, actually in the klong at Ron Tong district. 

 

Krissada Muatnoi told the media that his area is famous nationwide for its gold deposits with beliefs that they are sacred. 

 

Now he wants tourists to try their hand at panning for gold. 

 

You can rent the necessary equipment at a special center in the area for just 100 baht.

This includes items such as a shovel and a panning receptacle. 

 

The visitor center is also open from 9-5pm for 50 baht where you can discover all about the history of gold exploration in the Ron Thong Klong and how to pan for the gold. 

 

Krissada said it was a great time to go panning what with gold being at a high price.

You can also buy gold jewelry at the center. 

 

Thaivisa notes that the name of the sub-district also means to pan for gold.

Tha shovel is to facilitate removal of the TAT BS mountain which is growing by the day.

if there was any Gold at all in that Klong, i think you would not be able

to move for Thai's trying their luck,especially the way things are today.

I'm still eagerly awaiting Pattaya marching bands. A parade a few years back in rainy season and knee high flooding was comedy gold 

no one is going to talk about his little nugget of gold that looks a little like the shape of thailand....except for the south a little it goes west and not east

My understanding is you pan for gold with a pan whats to rent ????

That one was cancelled already, because since tourist are not allowed to enter Thailand, they decided to send the prisoners to the countries where the tourists live

Panning for gold is a very successful activity in Thailand........Ask Kingsgate, they know everything about that

a metal detector is more efficient at finding gold nuggets

Is it possible to walk along the old railway track ?

 

Does this railway line exist today ?  Or maybe do as they do in UK .. Turn it into a cycle route if no longer in use ????.

 

Could have off road cycle race .. from the Burma border to BK ...
