Red Bull Boss: He's charged again with driving under the influence of cocaine

Following a meeting between officers from Region 5 of the metropolitan police and Thong Lo police yesterday it has been decided to charge Vorayuth "Boss" Yoovidhya with driving under the influence of cocaine.

Boss was behind the wheel of a Ferrari in the Thong Lo area of Bangkok in September 2012 when a collision occurred that killed senior sergeant Wichian Klanprasert.

The high profile case saw charges dropped recently but after a public furor one charge has now been made.

Another may follow.

The renewed investigation will interview three men - a senior engineer, a deputy of the Prachathipat political party and a physics professor at Chulalongkorn university - within this week.

This concerns the investigation into the speed at which the Ferrari was travelling.

The cocaine charge has been made after it was discovered that the substance cocaethylene was found in Boss's system in a Ramathibodi Hospital analysis after the accident.

This substance is produced in the liver after the metabolism of cocaine.

Boss - the heir to the Red Bull energy drinks fortune -  fled Thailand in 2017 and his whereabouts are unknown.

Bummer. He probably had already packed his Vuitton suitcases and arranged for a crowd of (paid) worshipers to fete him upon his triumphant return to Bangkok -- banners, laurel wreath, cymbals and drum

But what about the original 'causing death whilst driving' case?

That is still dropped and a much heavier penalty.

Bummer. He probably had already packed his Vuitton suitcases and arranged for a crowd of (paid) worshipers to fete him upon his triumphant return to Bangkok -- banners, laurel wreath, cymbals and drums and all.

And now a second round of carefully orchestrated "donations" to various needy parties is soon to commence in order to eventually make those charges vanish just as the first set did.

Am I cynical? You bet I am!

How about putting 'reckless driving causing death' back on? They kinda admit they made a big mess off that and the arguments to drop it were not exactly proper. So I don't quite understand why they say say they can't without new evidence? Doesn't overturning the 'new' evidence of the supposedly below 80 km/h speed count as evidence conforming earlier evidence of speeding etc? It just $eem$ they don't really want to...

How long until all the evidence for the new charges is lost?

Well then, the Red Bull heir is in big, big trouble.

The wheels on the bus go round and round, round....

Time to resurrect that dusky pink red notice and find him ????

RED BULL ..the saga continues

The saga continues, why can’t everyone just accept that he has the funds to make this disappear and if I was him I would simply employ someone to talk to the ultimate power. A marriage to a suitable lady could render him untouchable, imagine money and power...

Then how about charging him for possession. Surely cocaine possession gets serious time.

Regardless of what he's charged with, they still have to locate him.

At least they've gained experience in trying to find him over the last few years.

Simply unbelievable.

No it's not.  It's getting quite monotonous now.

I'm suspecting that this is the charge with weakest evidence, easily challengeable by the defence team. Nothing to see here, no Boss in jail ever. It would be unnatural for such a hi-so whose grandfather invented Red Bull to spend a night in the clink.

If he does come back I wonder what sort of contorted rationale the presiding judge is going to give for allowing him bail after he has already run away once.

I understand that the notification that charges had been dropped had been sent to him - they know where he is, and it's probably closer than we think.

Since the beginning of the Chinese plague…the Committee of Incentive Payments reports that the funds collected through the government’s innovative “Bribe and Walk” program has declined by 23.7%.

This obviously has had a major impact on the financial well-being of the nation’s Generals people....and the Godfather himself has directed 'immediate action'.

Therefore, Committee Chairman, Police Big General Somchai Poontang has faithfully accepted the challenge. He has calculated that at a minimum, 58.2 % of the shortfall can be recouped with the patriotic cooperation of the Yoovidhya family…putting the program solidly back on track.

Trusted leadership’s Thailand's future is again secure.

And how fortuitous that the government already has an expert in that particular field :whistling:

Why is he being charged with driving under the influence of cocaine?

His dentist came forward and said that this was due to his dental treatment!

Ok, so now that proves the dentist was deliberately lying to try and help Boss. Shouldn't he be charged with obstruction of justice and maybe the brown envelope should be confiscated too.

This means next to nothing. Another in a series of payments to the police franchisees. And he likely remains in exile, where he is having the time of his life, with his 25,000,000 baht monthly allowance. And nobody will pursue him, just like the first time around. Jokes all around the world. At the expense of the ever amusing RTP.

So he is addicted to cocaine, maybe he need to visit a luxury rehab.

They can charge him with whatever they like he don't care.

He's Not in Thailand and won't come back. end of crappy story.

When does the Statute of Limitations run out on charging someone suspected of taking cocaine? Does the Statute of Limitations run from the date Boss is charged or the date of the accident? If the BIB go abroad to arrest him will they all have to undergo luxurious quarantine?
