Well, now would be a good time to address the double pricing rip-offs across the country.

  • In other news, all virus free tourists must exit the country before September 26th

Seems  so !  I also object  to being forced to learn to play  golf while my wife  goes shopping  unsupervised and unrestricted !

  • Good to know that those of us who stayed in the country the whole time are covid-free. I was worried for a while that viruses discriminate based off nationality.

I don't normally laugh out loud, but this comment did the trick.

I was under the impression that the TM30 was not to be done every time one leaving then going back home as long as it is considered as it is a holiday

Any hotel will re-register you and you have to do a TM30 again when returning home. No way around it.

We're not expats, we're guests. Isn't that what TVF apologists have been screaming for months, if not years?

PR or you ain't getting a single satang. And right to own land and 100% company and no work permit for PR holders. Since we're that "important".

Heard that he is planning to declare naked agogos covid19 virus free zones as the police are a bit short of cash.

Daily News said that there are two million foreign workers and students who could boost Thai tourism.

2,000,000, closer to 200,000 unless you are counting the foreign workers from Cambodia, Laos, and Myanmar who I don't think will be inclined to contribute their small wages to help boost the f.... d thai tourist industry. Maybe pipat, ai anutin, watch man, and cha cha can put their hands in their pockets and extract a few baht from their billions to help out their fellow Thais. No??? Thought not!!

No you do not have to do TM30 again, at least not i Sisaket. This Immigration office must be among the most friendly and helpsom in Thailand.

Expats always over estimate the effect they have on Thailand......

To have any effect on tourism they have to significantly increase there spending and as most are on a fixed income, that amount is unlikely to increase very much.

Figures for the numbers of expats....including those working .... range from 150k to 500 k but the latter includes very low income from ASEAN countries .

So even if they all went on holiday in Thailand for 2 weeks and took a family that would mean 2 million for two weeks against 40 million over the year.

Of course the money they spend on holiday is then lost to local businesses etc whilst they are away.

In the absence of foreign tourists due to the pandemic Pipat Ratchakitprakarn believes that foreign workers living in Thailand and foreign students studying in the country can swell the kingdom's tourism coffers at least as much as Thais, reported Daily News.

The fool totally misses the segment of the expat community with the time, money, and resources to tour Thailand.

Let's see:

StudentsShould be studying and not touring.  Visa stay is based on enrolment in an educational venue, not the amount of funds they bring into the country monthly.  In order the maintain their visa status the individual should be studying, not touring around Thailand.
Workers: Should be working and not touring.  Visa stay is based on their employment.  Funds do not originate from outside Thailand but they are paid in Thai Baht locally.  And they aren't going to be touring except on their vacation or holidays.  In order the maintain their visa status the individual should be working, not touring around Thailand.

Who did he not mention?

Retirees:  Have all the time in the world to tour.  Visa stay based on monthly income or proven reserves in a bank.  Brings funds into Thailand from outside the country which directly contribute the Thai economy by injecting foreign funds into the system.
Expats married to Thais:  For those who are not working - Same as "Retirees."

I call these ministers "fools" because they really are blinded by there own short-sightedness and stupidity.

That's right.  Temporary guests.  Each year I dutifully march down to immigration to grovel for another year extension to "visit my wife" to whom I've been married for 13 years.

Any other country in the world you'd be granted residency after 10 years of marriage.
Here?  We're just here "visiting" our family and can be kicked out at any time.  And unlike true "guests" ie, tourists, we're not even seen to contribute to the economy.

The blind, short-sighted, fools probably see us as nothing but leeches.  But how many leeches give you blood as opposed to sucking it out?  Racist, blind, short-sighted fools at that.

Finally...Haa - it will change again.

What about all the retired expats? I live in Khon Kaen and have for 10 years and will be heading to Hua Hin for a 2 week vaction this month. This is in addition to a 2 week holiday I took in March on Jomtien.

The domestic tourism stimulus package resulted in a 27% drop in domestic Thai tourism! So now we must be milked to fill that hole? There is absolutely no way that I am traveling anywhere until I have been vaccinated, and then my travel will not be in Thailand because "been there done that". So mister Minister go find another way to prop up what the Bank of Thailand refers to as the imploding tourism business.

Why Bangkok?

I was thinking why Bangkok myself. I avoid Bangkok year round except for winter season when the weather is bearable. The humidity at this time of year is unbearable.....and how many sidewalks that are like obstacle courses do you want to see?

In recent years each announcement was about making it a bit more complicated for foreigners staying longterm and now thanks to corvid a new vibe ????????

Many of the people I come into contact with don't even have the 800,000 or 400,000 to deposit in the bank. They pay 25000 to agents to get them visas and then live like paupers. These folks are not contributing much to the economy. If I was poor I wouldn't want to be living in Thailand.

The potential is already there ... it's called dual pricing!!!

Golf's pretty expensive, even at my up country 4 star place it runs to several thousand by the time you tip the caddy etc. I told them I would pay the 25000 annual fee but they said no, farang can not.

Took my Girlfriend to the dentist, to clean her teeth.

They did a good job, so I asked her to ask them if they could do mine as well?

They said they had time, so I received the cleaning.

Then proceeded to charge me 1,000 bht more than the receptionist collected from my friend.

I asked her to ask them why the difference in rate?

I have no cavities and I have my teeth cleaned every six months,

normally at the government hospital, where they have dentist as well.

The receptionist calls out the dentist, and she tells me Farang teeth not the same as Thai,

so have to charge more...

Many have criticized the tourism ministry for providing stimulus measures and promotions for Thais but ignoring the potential of the foreigners living in Thailand.

It's not only that they're ignoring expats / foreigners. By doing that and trying to get Thais to travel, they're ignoring all of the businesses and destinations that rely mainly on foreign tourists (and expats). Of course there is overlap but a lot of businesses cater specifically to Thai travelers, while others cater specifically to foreigners. The latter are being left out in the cold.

Not quite true. If I take a break for a few days or more in another place in Thailand I still have to pay my rent, TV, Wi Fi at home.

I will be eating out on holiday, drinking more, spending on tourist attractions and travel.

Why Bangkok?

Well, good time for a poll.   Oh,  we love polls

a. done had every lady in HH already

b. found out that 2 houses were not enough to escape the wrath of a female

c. uhhh,  some "slight misunderstanding" forced me to relocate take a vacation

d. heard there was a good language school nearby ????????

e. wanted to be closer to TV headquarters in case there was a recount

f. all of the above

40Thb meal/7/11 Chang beer expats/tourists wont save Thai economy. Demand 3000$ per month funds and Covid insurance for every foreigner entering the country. If they dont spend 3000$ per month, seize their money. Thailand dont need mongering cheap Charlies.

You need to go back to school to become truly recognised....think of all the benefits....acne, racing hormones, explosive temper....more Thai like than ever before!!!

I think this says less about recognising the desirability of expats in Thailand and more about the fact that they have realised true tourists are t going to be coming anytime soon, so expats already here is all they have got. Doesn’t change the rankings on the totem pole at all.

With these tedious daily postings... You could be mistaken for believing Thailand has a reliance on Tourism...to which they deny.

if they had HALF a brain cell left, every farang, tourist or not, let them stay UNLIMITED or at least till 26 march 2021 without new papers, visa, extension, ...

but no, a lot COVID FREE will have to leave, because of CORRUPTED IO's and their tactics with visa agents to take high bribes and fake volunteer visa's....
