Perhaps if I get one with 'Covid-19' written on it, I'll get a seat to myself on the bus.

  • Now who else wanted minorities to wear armbands, let me think.

  • I'm sure the locals are going to super friendly to anyone seen wearing one of these wristbands. They'll be treated like lepers. How long before shops have signs outside "Solly, wristband people cannot

  • They really need someone with an ounce of common sense to stop all of these ridiculous ideas before they make fools of themselves every single day.

Are 'we' still barred from interprovincial buses...not that I have the balls to catch one?

No doubt track and trace devices coming to expats and immigrants next... try it out with tourists first.

It might be something like that or something that says CV19 free so the general Thai public doesn't start freaking out on every foreigner.

I'm sure the tourists heading for the soapy massages will be chuffed to know the authorities are looking out for them.

I dont think this goes far enough. Some kind of sandwich board declaring the wearer to be unclean should be employed.

Maybe a cow bell around the neck should also be used. Oh and a big red flag.

If anyone hasn't yet grasped that Thailand with its enormous financial reserves can keep the borders closed for decades should they so choose, then you have now

You can come in but the restrictions will be so onerous that no one will. Thank you for your past custom x

Never work.

What they want is electronic exploding neckbands that decapitate if the tourist wanders out of an allowed perimeter.  I think most tourists would be ok with this given all they have already had to go through to get here.

Exploding male chastity belt would also be good whereby the crown jewels disappear if any horizontal activity happens.

Why are they borrowing so much, as announced today? A serious question.

Had the termite inspection out to the house Sunday.  My Thai comprehension is poor but I did pick up the old guy asking GF where I was from and when she told him America,  he mumbled something about Covid-19.  I asked her after he left but being polite as always didn't comment. The older generation especially really don't like foreigners mucking about their country

Granted.. USA has done a terrible job and I really don't blame him.. But the general population cannot distinguish between tourists or long stayers.

I think that wristbands would be too easy get around. Chip and PIN has to be the way to go. Tourists first as a trial and then expats later.

Only the Chinese tourists will agree to wrist Bands.
Will they be staying in their own Hotels owned by Chinese.
Do they still sell those fake COVID19 FREE certificates on Alibaba?

As it's only a couple of days until the first inmates tourists arrives, the government only got this type of wrist bands available.

Many years ago I visited regularly the Dominican Republic.

Every tourist/customer got a wristband in the all-in hotels.

No wristband, no free drinks/food.

I am prepare to wear again a wristband here.

I already wear one  a few years ago, when

my Thai wife gave me one, to show  support to King Bhumibol.

Same the world over nominal interest rates. £255 Billion in foreign currency reserves says they can frankly do what they want

That means all foreign tourists allowed in under the special tourist visa must wear GPS wristbands so that their movements can be closely tracked.

Here's a less costly alternative! Clowns!

The Marine golf course in Sattahip has banned foreigners because of the fear of catching Covid. The people who make these rules must have pea brains as well as being xenophobic

That is a key question. Do they?

They do not want any foreigners here, not at the moment.

It's pretty obvious, but these schemes are the typical Thai way of saying, look, we're trying and we are open for business, when the reality is, we don't want any foreigners here and we are closed.

Thais are experts at fooling people into thinking the opposite is true, just look at the famous smile.

But he suggested that people who didn't want the country opened were not those suffering in the decimated tourist industry.

so just ignore the majority, sounds familiar

would it not be much safer to financially support those in the tourist industry and keep the borders closed for now

How would they know who the tourists who are supposed to wear bands are vs the expats who are already here ?

They'd be identified, obviously, at Immigration at the airport because they're coming in on STVs!

Peter Denis,

don't understand what confused you in my post 52.

We have all our personal limits of which we are prepare to undergo to be able/allowed to stay here.

I wear before wristbands for different reasons, so I am prepare to do it again.

Of course I can easily understand that you and certainly others, are not prepared to accept this, and will prefer to leave the country.
