"Thailand is in talks with China to establish a quarantine-free travel corridor by January to rescue its ailing tourism industry"     This maybe a risky move!  I have been following a Vlogge

Would you expect anything different. Suppressing human rights and media coverage is an art they have perfected, much like the former USSR.

And safely walking through "Walking street" visiting the go-go bars.

Don't worry folks, we are safe. They are all bubbled-up.

Well it had to happen  I knew  China  would be open to   Thailand  before any other country  ( with no restrictions  ??????)

But  January is a way off yet

Wait  see  if the  first  lot of Chinese  bring the  virus back

Then  see if  by Jan  China  dont have another  wave of virus

So many things   these dreamers   cannot  see

Why  will no other  country  let Chinese  in  ?

Also with Chinese  here  again  not  many  other  tourist will  want to come anyway

Why  not  just  give Thailand  to China....... China  owns  most of Thailand  anyway ... become  a provence  then all the Generals  will be safe  from  demonstrating  populations

Cos  China  will use water  canons   they  use real  guns

Good Luck  Thailand

You are spreading false information here. The EU would allow the Chinese in if the Chinese reciprocated, but the Chinese didn't agree to open their borders.

I'm currently in EU and have never travelled to China, would love to visit as the travel options are very limited now.

Times are bad for everyone right now. I think people need to be more of a jack of all trades and not a master of one.

This maybe a risky move!  I have been following a Vlogger called serpentza on Youtube for a few years who lived in China for 13 years and has a lot of contacts there and he is saying the Wuhan China virus is still a huge problem in China.  The CCP are not telling the truth about it!

Read Nathan Rich on Youtube about Serpentza and educate yourself. Then read Jaoyo, Gweilo60, Numuves, and Barrett to finish the job.

well if they test and have no virus as well as the mobile tracking then what's the problem ?

The WHO estimates the IFR for covid is 0.14% so it's not much of a problem, well not more than the flu anyway.Don't bubbles have a tendency to burst?Perhaps they should call it a "travel corridor" or something.

These are bubbles and probably would not do anything for the general Thai population. Will feed the hands of certain entitled individuals only.

No, those bubbles definitely don't burst. Those are quality made bubbles. Bubbles made in C.HINA do not burst, they bubble.

Let's see how eager the Chinese really are. They seem to be quite pleased with keeping their people safely under lock and key while promoting domestic tourism, which has been booming. Coming to Thailand, they might even get to see street protests, heaven forbid!

Thai people don't want Chinese and they don't want your useless gov. Stop posting this rubbish.. Thais want farang and they want you gone. The dissent is to strong and you are A failed gov.

This bubble <deleted> is laughable it shows your absolute incompetence also. Go back to barracks.

I have seen a photo of Chinese queuing for vaccine shots and statements that said it was available to any who paid. Apparently Russia is doing likewise without stage 3 finished.

My guess is that in January many countries will follow suit and that desperate Thailand will allow entry to anyone who has proof of vaccination.

The usual nonsense. What are they waiting for ? Taiwan could be open already as a bubble country. The strategy is to wait and follow others ????

I don't think the Chinese government wants its citizens to mix with pro-democracy protesters or to know anything about those incidents or human rights.

They will have to be dealt with first.

No doubt the Chinese Communist Party is advising the Thai government on what should be done to suppress and control the Thai people more and prevent them from expressing any political opinions. Wait for some new anti-human rights and state surveillance laws, and some more bans and crackdowns.

Fanciful to say the least and completely without proof.

Stop saying CV19 is like the flu.  It's NOT!  Stop trolling.

What does this cliché even mean in this context...China (and a few other countries) have demonstrably no/low Covid rates...why wouldn't Thailand reopen to tourism from them?

I would guess that because China is a much larger market for Thailand tourism. The other reason being that such talks are bilateral and it also depends on the willingness of the other sides which are understandably cautious.

Serpentza was an English teacher, become a vlogger and motorcycle modder and suffered big time from Marco Polo syndrome because white dude wearing a cheap black suit speaking marginal Chinese can do anything. After he become irrelevant and the government started cracking down on unlicensed businesses and his iffy immigration status.  Now lives in the US and exploits anti-China sentiment. Bitter and resentful.

Typical, Chinese tourists, using Chinese businesses, only money going to Thais is in the form of brown envelopes for the upper echelon mongrels making these decision.

end of rant

Who'd waste their time with this nut?  Uneducated also.

Rich is the only child of Julie Miriam Rich, a pet communicator of Polish-American Jewish descent,[5] who died from cancer in 2010.[1][6][3] He completed only two school grades, seventh and eighth grades, at Dunedin Academy. He spent four years at the Mace Kingsley Ranch when he was 8 and 14 years old. At 17, he left home and was later disowned by his family.[7][8] He spent seven years homeless while using and dealing drugs[3] before attending community college.[1] On Oct. 1, 2000 an arrest record showed his hands were tattooed with “THE” and “IN” written on his thumbs and “C I T Y” and “S L U T” across his fingers from his time as a member of a gang called Slut in the City.

I guess all the drivers bussing the tourists are imported Chinese workers, as are all the hotel housekeepers, chefs, servers, and everyone else who collects a wage/salary at the hotels where they stay and all the tourist attractions they visit. Heck, even the boat boys and captains here in Pattaya who take (or used to take) the hoards of Chinese tourists on their day trips to Ko Larn are Chinese, who take their wages back with them to China to spend there.

The WHO has NOT estimated this.

An article published in the WHO newsletter (not the same thing as a n official WHO pronouncement) which reviewed data from various studies found wide variation in IFR across locations and an average IFR of about 0.23% in those specific locations and made no claims as to an overall worldwide figure.

A study recently published in the International Journal of Infectious Diseases concludes:

  • Published estimates vary, with a ‘true’ fatality rate hard to calculate.
  • Systematically reviewing the literature and meta-analyzing the results shows an IFR of 0.68% (0.53-0.82%).
  • This rate was variable from place to place, with a lower range of 0.17% and a highest estimate of 1.7%.
  • Serology studies with a lower risk of bias appeared to demonstrate a higher IFR than those at a higher risk of bias."

Why the range...underlying age profile and pre-existing disease profile of different countries and quality and availability of healthcare?
