How are the bars, restaurants, agogos, massage shops, gentleman clubs and any business doing during covid?

Drove past the other day and noticed a big 711 store had opened there.

I notice no question mark.

There's a fine line between setting up an online business, and begging online.

What are selling, exactly, to the people sending money to the bar, and I am not talking about whatever is in the glass.

Hopefully it does not take over the business 100% and eliminate real bums on seats.

It could, if there were "private shows upstairs."

I might avoid the places myself, or certainly want to know which areas are under camera, so as to sit elsewhere.

I haven't come across it yet.  Maybe just the days and times I go to Soi 6.  If they start a webcam in the bar when I am there, I will leave.

I think if you asked them to keep you out of the picture they would comply. A real live customer in the bar is always valued.

The near bonhomie I get by being a real life bum on a seat to some desperate soul stuck in a Western winter.

Hopefully it will be apparent and obvious, but cameras are small and capable these days. It did not impact a night out I had recently, but I am pretty sure none of the bars were streaming.

If they had a "stage" in a corner of the bar, no problem.  If the webcam is at the front of the bar, or at the back of the bar, filming the whole bar, that's no good.

I played a couple of pool league matches in that bar - one before Covid and one 2 months ago or so. Personally I wouldn't choose to go drinking in there on a normal night out......

His more general view may well be true however.

I don't know the bar at all, I very rarely go Soi 6 now, but it's an interesting insight that the streaming is killing the atmosphere / other bars

I doubt online drinks are as lucrative as he makes out.  More a case of there simply is no customers, or expats are not prepared to pay Soi 6 prices.

If it's as lucrative as he suggests, I am sure he would have set up his own streaming by now, and if incapable of doing so, then his days were numbered anyway.

I was in one place where it was angled up and the girls crowded in front and raised their glasses and gave their loud appreciation to the mug customer over the wires. But it isn't happening at nearly all the places I go into. as mentioned I am getting Notifications on my phone when a few bars go online and curiousity makes me look, and see 3-4 girls crowding in front of a camera hopefully.... it does not entice me either way, as it looks completely empty behind them.

Has anyone questioned the legalities of streaming bars with girls online? Surely violations of the Computer Crimes Act could be construed... alcohol advertising being the second most obvious.

Not saying I agree or disagree with the concept, everyone has to make a living after all, but I won't be drinking in there, those bars are not my thing anyway...

I was on Pattaya Tai/Sai (the South Road) last night, first time for a long time, and was surprised at the number of Thai bars/eateries up towards the top end.

It was early on so not too busy, but I might make a trip back soon and later in the evening for a change from the ghetto.

I reckon it's a fad that will fade away, guys will surely realise they might as well watch porn online for free

They might be attracted by the interaction with someone  they have prior carnal knowledge of. I find it hard to grasp the sense of chucking money at Paypal, a bar and a distant girl for a bit of Skype type interaction.... but then I can ride a bike for a few minutes and get the real thing.

I don't get it either, but cam sites like Chaturbate, OnlyFans, and girls taking donations via Patreon for online virtual sex work are going quite strong. The top ones are pulling six figures. Their customers get infatuated and obsessed. I reckon everyone being kept inside due to Covid has fueled this fire.

But what I tell these guys when I see them in threads talking about it, is man, just go on the Philippine dating sites like PinaLove, Filipinocupid, etc. For the price of topping up their phones, and a little money for groceries here and there, you could have stunning Filipinas keeping in constant contact like a real GF, and fulfilling your every whim.

Sure, you'll get the "emergencies" and requests for large amounts, just move on. There are tons more appreciative of whatever you can offer. If you're into that sorta thing. ????

When I first read about it, I thought a guy who was online could see the girls over the bar's webcam and then he could buy a particular girl a drink, and then that girl would sit with the online customer, one on one, on a laptop, in a different spot in the bar.  Just like would happen if he was a walk in customer.  This, I could possibly understand, especially as guys are in lock down in various countries and are bored.

As we know, it doesn't work like that at all, and I find it strange guys would send money online to see a half dozen girls down a shot in front of the camera, say thank you,  and walk off.

This guy was on walking street nearly every night, seems he's passed away. He did the street card cigarette tricks. No more detail

Remember him well.... what happened to the Michael Jackson impersonator, I  recall him coming into a GGB, sitting nearby, buying a few LDs and then back out again to strut his stuff, and make some more money for the girls.

The GGBs would end up looking like one of those Computer Game playing businesses with a few rows of laptops.... from spotty teenagers to bikini clad BGs.

Works in China, Korea,  and Japan.

People pay to watch this girl eat dinner.  Crazy.

"In South Korea, one-person households are extremely common and on the rise. Reuters reports that one-person households could comprise a third of the population in 15 years. That’s a lot of lonely dinners."

Well, all I know is, Pete has not informed any of his Ex-Staff that he is re-opening in 2021 yet.

And I think things would have to be a lot more back to normal before he would even consider it.

It's possible the facebook poster is confused with all the new beer bars vs Pattaya Beer Garden

That would be my interpretation, but if the BIB want to shut something down it's been suggested that this law may be what is manipulated to allow them to do so.

Why would they want to shut this type of online purchase down?

Because they are not getting their cut?

They surely could come up with some reasoning, like 'bad Image of the world class resort'.... I am more worried there might not be the incentive to go back to the old ways, girls in bars lolling over us fat old guys whispering delights into my shell like. This internet scrounging from sad buggers in messed up countries looks like easy pickings.

The point of sale is in the cash economy, but the Thai government still gets its taxes from the production and wholesale of alcohol, so they still get their "cut."

I think you will see the freelance business model stay for quite a while after covid has gone, and the use of apps to meet up with girls will continue to expand.

Well providing the drink bought for the girl over the internet is actually alcohol and not water shots!
