Looks like they might have to pull a few strings  to get out of this one or face the music

I'm not French ..... why does it give me a bad name?

It doesn't BMT. Take no notice.

I am French and I'm dismayed that this has happened. Everyone knows that French musicians are among the best in the world. The BinB should have listened and enjoyed the scene and ambiance.

Bring on the Revolution! I'm sure that the new Thai generation would be happy to enjoy a bit of song and dance rather than the Gestapo like atmosphere the current authorities embody.

Christ! I've been a musician for 50+ years, paid and unpaid. It's part of the joy of life.

Lack of joy is a keynote of the Thai authorities.

How terrible, some people having fun. Get over this Covid hysteria already.

I left LOS permanently (having lived there on & off for over thirty years) with my Thai wife (married 20+ years) and daughter in 2013 because of, in order of hates - 1, air pollution in Chiang Mai (and everywhere) since about 1997 and only getting worse each year & 2, systemic and endemic corruption at all levels of Thai society & 3, the totally dangerous and unsafe driving 24/7 by Thais & 4, the rotten, drunken, corrupt Thai cops and quasi-government officials who pull this kind of ***t ! Need I go on ? I left behind a very broken society, plus a shed-load of farang Thai "apologisers" who refuse to either accept, or believe, the truth ! I got throat cancer from breathing that ***t that Thais call fresh air and had three months of radiotherapy in Oz, to avoid death ! Sadly, I left behind a two-storey mansion in Saraphi (C Mai) that I built to western standards - now owned by the local hi-so Amphur guy. Built in 2008, its' once lovely red Australian roof tiles are now stained permanently black, from the filthy air-pollution in C Mai. I sold out at a good profit, in 2013. Fast-forward eight years on and as my family looked out over our farm in northern NSW Australia today, with crystal clear air on our daughters' eleventh birthday, I explained to my wife in Thai - (I speak all 3 dialects) about this B/S "arrest" of farangs for 'performing music'. If a tourist plays music in Oz, nobody gives a rats' <deleted>, including the Immigration Dept, or the police. The missus just stared at me and said in perfect English, as she is now an Oz citizen and goes to college for free to learn to read & write English,  "I am never, EVER, going back there - why do you even talk about it" ? Damn good question on her behalf, actually. I went back on my own in 2015 & again in 2019 for dental work, but she's right, - I won't be going back to LOS again either. At nearly 70, there are just far too many nicer places to visit, where one is at least treated nicely.

????????????

They seem to have a great comedian as well.

The upside of not being able to stay in Thailand the past year is, not having to think about how to avoid the types arrested or the nomads.

Restaurants are allowed to sell alcohol all day. Only Seven Eleven etc can't sell in the afternoon. Also not all the artists were french lol This is exaggerated news!

My girlfriend and I moved to Koh Samui in December and we went with a friend but did not arrive until after 5:30 pm. We were told by the bartender that the police had shown up and cleared some people out and that the owner went to the police station to “clear up the matter”. Long story short; apparently the owners had not “cleared the matter” with the police prior to the party taking place. Interpret that any way you like.

People were still arriving and there was a Thai Hippie band playing bongo drums and a didgeridoo. They eventually gave way to reggae music the likes of Bob Marley which was played on the sound system.

With all that being said, the establishment had just undergone a recent remodel and this was their re-opening party. It’s right on the beach in Lamai and an otherwise decent place to go for drinks.

So no one was dancing then.....

I agree....in order of wrongness:

1. Accordion

2.Pan Pipes

3. Electric organ with drum machine

Harmonica, Recorder, shakers, cowbells, tambourine are preferred torture device of hippie.

I am not distressed over the hassle of these vagrant type people. They do not look like they are contributing much to the world. Just how are they supporting themselves? Maybe they are legally employed at something  but it would be interesting to know what they do and how people of this age are supporting their life of leisure in  sunny Thailand.

Cretins. They had it coming. I am ashamed of some of my compatriots.

black list them all.

Bo Phut police and military officers descended on a restaurant on Lamai Beach that had organized an illegal drinks and music party.

Kannika Thongreuang, 48, identified herself as the manageress and was charged with selling alcohol out of hours.

Two bottles of beer and a couple of bills were taken in evidence.

Four French musicians - some pictured on the Bo Phut police website - were arrested for illegal work without a permit.

One was playing drums, another on sax, a third on bass and another playing guitar. They were singing too. They were taken away to Bo Phut police station.

The party was attended by 100 Thais and foreigners and a sign on the police page read "Hippie Festival Samui".

All IDs and passports of attendees were checked during the raid yesterday.

Complaints had been received about an illegal party.

   Fyi .

In the Good ole days ,  a Frenchie was known as a condom .

Seems , they advanced in the Rubber industry .555

In France they called a condom 'an English Overcoat'.

Is this the same place that got busted a few months ago rammed full of people and selling drink when there was a booze ban in bars on samui ?

what a shame for thailand.  ????‍♂️
soon there will be no tourists at all

and the islands will have rice fields like in Isan

How glad am I that the hunt is still on and that all those job destroyers from faraway dirty farang land are being caught in the middle of the action, evidential elements like two beer bottles and some bills were secured and the entire story is published online on the WORLD WIDE web.

This might backfire as well - but there is nothing to backfire to meanwhile ........

Hippies?  Working?

Surely you jest.

Hippies go out of their way not to work.

The Thai haters are out in force on this one but most are missing (or choosing to ignore) the main point.

This was an organised, illegal, money making event selling alcohol illegally

Not a jamming session.

The police here often do nothing when foreigners play at impromptu events, but when the police are called out and laws are being broken, they will throw the book at everyone and anyone.

Covid rules. Not party animals that do not give a hoot about anyone but themselves.

Them French should be banned from singing anyway

Yeh frogs in their throats not good for 'yer vocal cords.

I didn't know there was such a word as "manageress". Now I know. How about "managera", the "a" designating a female?

Wow that place is packed! Definitely needed cracking down. Let's get rid of all the pesky foreigners! That's the most important thing for the police to do these days.

"Hippie Festival Samui".

That's all I need to see

Much nightlife going on in South America.  (without masks)

Hard to figure why it can't be done legally in Samui.

If you search youtube for "Leblon district nightlife  Rio de Janeiro Febraury 2021" you can see for yourself.
